For me, it will prevent RO from seamlessly integrating into ANH (same with the RO Vader looking so different.) It's no biggie obviously, but it would really have been great if they had simply put the Vader and stormie (and other OT) costumes on the copier and just replicated exactly what they were in 1976, warts and all.

I mean if used in RO, the only people who would have noticed the imperfections (that SW panel guy in video is describing) are the diehard fans. And yet they're the only ones who are now going to notice the retconned details. No casual fan will notice it - so it's self defeating in a way.

What an odd, but disturbing paradox. So, lets face it, the armor changes are for nothing. :lol

I love SW and have seen all of them multiple times. But I would still put myself in the casual category. The only reason I even know there a differences in stormtroopers, Vaders, lightsaber hilts, etc., is because of this forum. And even then I don't KNOW the difference, I just know that there IS a difference :lol

It really is an addiction, am I the only one who would watch the episodes back when Spike would spam them? Even though I had multiple copies of every single movie on my shelf, it was like a ****ing moth to a flame, I just couldn't click past it. :lol

His backpack contents look so literal: Coffee thermos - check! Dumbell curler - check! Toilet roll dispenser - check!:lol

Don't forget shake weight. Check

I do that all the time. Never makes sense to me why I watch it, commercials and all, when I have a copy right in front of me :lol

Honestly though I think that, for me anyway, watching it on TV isn't a commitment. I can leave as I please. When I pop a movie in, I have to go through the whole process of "do I really want to watch this? What else should I be doing? What time will it be when it ends?" Lol.

Saw the HT ANH and RO comparison pics on FB.

Prefer the ANH version overall. The chest especially looks odd. Helmet might be better on RO though.

I'd assume that Jedha is the planet's name because I was thinking wth would a trooper be called that :dunno

I'm thinking it's again just for the toy as they'll probably have different of these Sandtrooper figures and then the regular Stormtroopers. Sort of like how they had the Jakku trooper.

Yeah, because these troopers can definitely be mistaken for a sand trooper. However these troopers seem smaller than a sand trooper. Not sure if the armor is thinner or the actors are smaller guys than the ones used in ANH.

Yep doesn't look bad. The helmet is certainly flatter looking on the face. BuGz photo shows that very clearly. As nice as it is I still think I'll stick with the Deathtrooper, Shoretrooper and Tanktrooper. And maybe mix my Sandtrooper in there with them.

About time they got that aspect (flatter face) correct. A consistent mistake across most toy lines has been too much muzzle.

I think it's just the cheesy new suits. :lol

Again I think the concept of this film makes no sense to me. I think having the setting before ANH loses the creditably of the SW universe. It just doesn't fit.

I think a different story in a timeline shortly after ROTS would be better. In the EU, Vader had many adventures traveling all over seeking and destroying all the Jedi , etc.

Will see how the script plays out for this film, but for the diehard SW fans bringing in remerable characters like storm troopers and changing outfits is ruining the character

The truth is Disney really wants to make films set in the OT era, as it's the most popular and lucrative portion of SW, but since the story is essentially complete they have to shoehorn things like this, another prequel that's not really a prequel but is totally a prequel.

I'm sure these have been posted already, but here they are again. This better illustrates what I had issues with when the first trailer hit, the new armor. Like someone else said in the thread, this will be the one big thing that prevents this film from seamlessly merging into the OT. I understand making tweaks and updates because of new techniques etc, but the Stormtrooper immediately stood out to me as wonky looking. Vader may or may not have the same issues.

I don't understand making everything about the new helmet soft and rounder looking, soft, round eyes, chubby round chin and cheek pipes etc, and then make the new body armor box and clunky looking. It's so weird to me. The troopers just look generally dumpy and a big part of it is the design placement of the waist/belt. The belt on the OT trooper is high, where a waist really would be, but the new troops and the belt lowered to the hips, which lowers everything else in the design, making the leg armor shorter and dumpy looking. Again, the helmet is all curves and chubby looking even, but the body is all squared and boxy, the leg armor looks squared off and all the form fitting curves of the OT armor is gone.

I know this sounds like a crazy nerd rant lol, I'm not super upset or anything and I know most casual viewers wont give a ****, but I found this stuff to be instantly noticeable.

The way I see it is that each PT film was the evolution of the stormtrooper this film will be no different IMO. I think this trooper is a step up from the ROTS trooper design but not as advanced as the ANH trooper.

I look at the RO trooper as a basic trooper, probably not as accurate in shooting as a trooper in ANH and not as intelligent either which probably explains how the blind guy can knockout a group of troopers with just a staff :dunno

I think the armor was made to look simplistic and dumpy, because this the transition from clone to elite stormtrooper. Obiwan said in ANH that Sandpeople couldn't attack the jawas and dismantle their equipment, he mentioned only Imperial stormtroopers have accuracy in shooting. :lecture

The narrowing of the chest plate and the shorter shin guards were obviously done to give the actors greater movement, but it's the smaller helmets that make them look really awkward.
