I just came from a trip down south and saw this Frozen show, it was great, funnily enough the cast was completely different from your pics save Elsa, who looked the same. Fantastic pics!

Thanks, yeah... I've seen it with different casts and there's certainly an A-squad and B-squad... even a C-squad. So depending on who performs, some people may dislike it heavily.

new Soarin' Over the World launched. Overall, I like it okay. I think it's too polished and CG infused compared to the original though. I prefer the original but this is pretty to look at. Patrick Warburton is still the pre-load guy and Jerry Goldsmith's score is still present, but adapted with new arrangements for the new film.

And if you saw Finding Dory, there was a pipe at the aquarium with words. It was a nod to the Submarine Voyage at Disneyland.

When is the SW park supposed to open at DW?

The dates that have been thrown around are anywhere from 2018 to 2021, but nothing official from Disney has been announced.

In related news....

Due to the slow-pace of development, both Imperial and Rebel forces have arrived to oversee construction to ensure that workers double their efforts!

When does all the SW stuff at DLR end? I love the hell out of SW, but the prevalence of it in Tomorrowland makes the land feel like it's lost its original identity.

I'm officially back!! Whirlwind of Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland. I took 5,200 photos so it's gonna be awhile to sort through them all.

I don't think there is an end in sight, unless the Star Wars movies slow down. Synergy is the name of the game now.

Bleh. I don't even think it reads like synergy at all. It reads to me like, "You love Star Wars, here's Star Wars, also you're in Tomorrowland but don't sweat it here's some Star Wars stuff."

The SW stuff all feels so tacked on, not like a properly-implemented theme. Especially because half of Tomorrowland is themed, and half isn't - and there's no proper separation or balance (no pun intended) to it.

Well, I'm with you. I'd like Tomorrowland to go back to what it was originally. Interacting with new, futuristic concepts brought to life and/or on display.
But for the Star Wars attractions, it just made sense to put them into 'Tomorrowland' without expanding the Disneyland territory. The space-frontier theme could not fit in any of the other lands.
By the way, Lucas already had a huge relationship with Disneyland before he sold them Lucasfilms, which also includes Indiana Jones... another attraction that was already there well in advance.

I would imagine that the SW attractions in Tomorrowland will be replaced once the new SW Land opens. Space Mountain will return and Star Tours can be renamed and converted into a different experience (i.e. traveling on the surface of Mars or something else that continues with the concept of 'futuristic'). Season of the Force will continue in the new land and young padawans can pretend to fight Vader at the new place as well. :)

It may not read like synergy but it essentially is. It's all aspects of the company supporting another. But yes, there is another aspect that is trying to deliver what fans want. Some of it feels tacked on, some of it doesn't.

It is interesting seeing Star Wars implemented in the other parks. I'll have pics to show but I'll discuss for now...

In Shanghai, they have a Launch Bay as well even though the country as a whole isn't exactly that excited about Star Wars, but I did see a lot of kids sport BB-8 hats and even more kids with Kylo Ren lightsabers. So the young kids of China, they get it. And that's really awesome.

In Hong Kong, the Star Wars Tomorrowland Takeover is definitely more slapped on but it's more implemented throughout the resort. Restaurants and rooms at the hotels for example have Star Wars desserts and food options as well as a room package if you pay for it, where you get star wars slippers or what not.

Disney has always milked the franchise. Now that they own all the rights, they're pushing forward full... eh, force. Sorry.

Disneyland opened 61 years ago today. I've been to Disney World 4 times in my life but I've never been out west. I don't really have a bucket list but a trip to Disneyland is definitely something I want to do at some point.

I'm happy with any Disney trip, but I prefer WDW. That said, DLR is a must do. It's the original, it's awesome, and it does some things that WDW can't or won't do. Even for comparison's sake, a DLR trip is mandatory for a Disney parks fan.

I keep saying one of these winters I'll make the trip to California to see DL and yet I always end up back in Florida. Only 194 days until I'm sitting on the Boardwalk again.:impatient:

Geez! The park was jam-packed yesterday. Even more so than on a crowded day. :lol

Sixty one years ago, yesterday, this place opened with a few rides. I made sure to visit each one: Main Street Railroad station, Jungle Cruise, Autopia, Carrousel (Jingles removed for refurbishment :(), Mr Toad's Wild Ride, Snow White's Ride, Mad Tea Party, Peter Pan's ride, and Storybook Land boat ride, and the Mark Twain (docked but boardable for pics).

The trains were not running (due to the SW Land development/production) but the engines and boxcars were boardable. You can even speak to the Engineer that normally would operate the thing.

I pretty much absorbed everything that was going on in Main Street and Sleeping Beauty's castle for most of the day. This is where most of the celebrations took place 61 years ago and a lot of the buildings and attractions can be found still standing in their same locations today.

I was impressed at how full the place remained even after the fireworks presentation... on a Sunday evening! :yess:
