That's it i'm sitting this one out. :lol

Rental it will be.

Cool, more money to put towards my Jakks Batman custom.

The rule is because over there they respect ghosts and its meant to be good luck to honor them and ghosts represent loved ones and stuff.
Not spooky scary skeletons being shot in the crotch.

That is way off. They banned the movie in China because China is a communist country and they do not allow any activities that might promote religion.

Chinese superstition and religious belief has long been linked to the supernatural or spirits and the communist government has been trying to erase that aspect of the Chinese culture for decades.

BINGO!

I've been to Hong Kong and there are plenty of Buddhist Temples and even Christian schools.

that might be real reason, but the reason I saw people mention was the one about honoring or whatever. Has the government officially say they are trying to erase any promotion of religion? whats the official response with ghost movies in general?

The article stated that the population was unfamiliar with Ghostbusters, therefore they feel the film spot would be wasted on this movie.

China only allows a certain number of Foreign films in the countries cineplexes each year, as they feel it is important to protect their culture and do not wish their domestic films to be overwhelmed or overshadowed by too many foreign releases.

im talking about ghost or paranormal movies in general, whats the official status, or the official reason for not allowing them?

Gotta agree with Feige's article. Richard Pryor, Woody Allen, Louis CK, Ricky Gervais, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chapelle, all overrated hacks.

:lol

Wasn't Ween against this movie though?

I probably won't see it until it's on disc, but I don't think it deserves the hate it's getting. I won't give it that much attention because I really don't care.

I like 99% of the movies I go and see, so I'm used to getting bashed. :lol

There are lots of Chinese movies featuring Ghosts. I know I have "The Eye" in my collection, for one.

Looked it up, didn't know about the ban, that seems odd.

It's mentioned that movies that make claim that ghosts are real are subject to banning, so I suppose a small on-screen disclaimer that the subject matter is purely fantasy might be a way of getting around the ban.

in our modern society men are obsolete, anything a man can do a machine can do, our society can self sustain, the truth is men are not needed anymore, Paul Feig knows this, he is ahead of the curve.
Once cloning is perfected men will be absolutely completely useless and their existence should be terminated for the good of the planet
(without men there would be no wars, no famine, no oppression, no crime) take men out and the world becomes an utopia

Those guys wish they were all as funny as Melissa McCarthy! :slap

I'm watching Back To School with Rodney Dangerfield, all I can think is how much better his part would be if it was played by Tina Fey.

My honest opinion......hate if you wish.

This is a video rental on a slow night for me...why?

1. I saw the original in a theater (first movie I saw alone as a kid) so I am , old white male and a geek. It has a special place in my childhood.
2. The original had WITTY humor, genuine scares, a original story and some laugh out loud stuff. (Again, witty cleaver humor!!)
3. The trailer shows the humor to be the typical low ball, gutter based trash humor people can't seem to get enough of these days .......("it got in all my cracks and crevasses"??? puleeeze.....
4. One character seems to be loud ALL THE TIME...screaming her lines....guess which one????
5. The director's answer to legitimate dislike of a terrible trailer has been to cry sexism...a thinly veiled attempt to make controversy around a likely mediocre movie to drum up additional box office revenue.
6. It just does not look funny to me, and thats what I was hoping for....who cares what type of underwear the actors wear....(or do not wear.).he hahaha ehe ehe hee...thats for all those who love 2nd grade humor.

One mans useless opinion.....call me old, sexist, white, nerd, troll or any combination....

Honestly , Most of the "funny" movies the last few year sucked to me......so suggestion on an actual comedy thats good are welcome...

Last funny movie I saw....

Tucker and Dale VS Evil.

From my understanding while there is no official gov stand on the matter, the Chinese government has been cracking down and persecuting religious groups like Falun Gong, labeling them as terrorists or sect. There have also been cases of Christians and Muslims Chinese being persecuted.

I have not really been up to date with Chinese cinema for a long time but they do seem to have basically zero horror movies releases. The well known Chinese horror released has been from HK.

However, the Chinese government are also known for their inconsistency cause they have multiple remakes of journey to the west tv shows which feature deities, spirits, and demons.

They do tend to leave Hong Kong alone, for the most part, at least until they have finished tearing its economy down and syphoning it's income to their major mainland cities.

Y the Last Man did a pretty good job of showing how that might work out.

What We Do in Shadows was pretty damn funny. But forget recent movies. Lots of classic Albert Brooks movies on Netflix today. That's what you should be watching.

OMG.....YES! YES! I sure hope this happens! :yess:
