Why is it the first photos available are always from someone with NO idea how to futz or pose a figure?

:lol So true.

For me, aside from the price, so far that's the only problem with them. Properly futzed and with a little weathering these are gonna look great. The bandoliers look nice, the fabric probably could have been better but it's not entirely inaccurate at that scale and it looks as if it drapes nicely.

Had these been $150 I'd be tempted to get two sets and do some customizing.

Yeah, I think they'll look great with a little TLC. Hot Toys Leia (with the exception of the head sculpt) looked like a $20 Barbie doll. With a little water treatment, she looks just fine...

WTF!!! The UPS tracking said the Jawa set was going to arrive on Mon, but they almost always deliver on a Fri for me before the weekend. So I was disappointed when it didnt arrive. But just now on Say evening I saw a tiny note wedged in the front door indicating they left the package in the ****ing electrical meter box!!! WTF!!! At least it was OK but damn at least update the tracking to say that!!

Either way, first impressions. Whoever packed this in the factory needs a kick in the head!! Shoving the damn Ion Blaster all the way into the hilt so that it gets stuck during shipping and is near impossible to take out without breaking is stupid!!

Luckily my blaster simply separated without snapping and I could wedge something inside the hilt to get the large front bit out. GGAAHHH!!!!

More first impressions.

Damn the bodies are floppy as all hell! The joints feel very loose, and one of the hands just popped right off out of the box. Scared me because the furry thing around the wrist came off with it and I wasnt expecting something furry lol!!!

Thanks Kool - glad you got them okay... can't wait for some properly futzed pics :)

I must say I'm pretty sick and tired of Sideshow's crap body and floppy joints, etc. Now that we are being gouged dollar-wise, these mongrels need to step up their game and at least get on par with the HT bodies... I mean, how farking hard is it???

It's not like we will have many (if any) options to replace bodies of this size. :slap

I do have to say i like the material they've used for the undersuit and cloak. Not sure if it's totally movie accurate, but feels soft and flexible and not so delicate that I'm scared to touch it (i hate overly delicate costumes).

Will do video review soon and hopefully try to post some decent pics lol

I hate to hear that about the bodies. I hope they're not all like that.

Looking forward to some properly posed Jawa pics, kool! :yess:

So far I'm not encouraged by anything I'm reading or seeing here. I don't think these guys just need futzing, they need major surgery.

Kill them.

:lol poor Jawas.

I know some people find comparisons between Sideshow and Hasbro offensive, but I honestly don't see how these are better - for the money - than the original Hasbro jawa. If I bought these it wouldn't be because I wanted them, it would be to complete a 12back shelf, and it would feel like I just couldn't help myself. The fact that no body swap is possible without considerable expense - I guess waiting for HT Yoda is the best option - makes these a no for me.

But as ever, I hope more pics and reviews somehow change my opinion.

No comment on these figures per se, but the Hasbro Jawa has all manner of issues that make it a poor representation in a 1/6 environment, from scale to lack of articulation - the belts/weapons it comes with are also completely worthless. Frankly, there's really nothing one could nor should re-use from a Hasbro Jawa to make a decent 1/6 version.

My last flex payment for this was June 5th but was moved to the 15th so hopefully I'll have them shortly after then. Really interested in seeing the review by Kool Kollectibles and am hoping these can look better. So far even though they haven't looked great there hasn't been any really great shots of them. I'm inclined to think that for the price they probably aren't worth it but if they can look decent I'll be happy as I've always liked the various Tatooine creature and Jawas in particular.

OK, some more pics. But before you guys kill me, know that I am not the world's best futzer LOL!!! I almost always copy a better pose from a photo in here by collectors far better at it than I :) But hopefully these give a better look whilst my video review is uploading. Any questions in the mean time, just ask away I guess.

Quick summary.

Pros:
- The material of the inner suit and outer cloak I actually like. The inner is the usual stretchy material similar to spandex (eg. Hot Toys Superman). The outer cloak is a "onsie" type material that is pretty easy to futz and looks decent.

- The tattered edges on the hem around the bottom of the cloak and the sleeves looks decent. The weathered is not too noticeable since it's all brown, but is there especially around the bottom of the cloak as expected.

- The fake leather pouches and straps actually look really nice, and have a good tumbled leather texture to them. They dont feel too delicate either to move around. The use of different materials looks great too.

- The light up eyes are pretty nice, and even with lights off I find they look decent enough with the slightly reflective yellow translucent plastic used. Battery and switch on the back of the head is easily accessible.

- The hood is a bit of a pain to futz, but with two options for how the hood is wrapped around the head, it gives good options. Lots of fun for those that can futz properly.

Cons:
- The underlying body is the biggest negative. It feels too floppy in areas, especially the knees, thighs swivels, elbows, and bicep swivels. It does not feel of a good quality, and may be prone to breakages or things becoming unattached (eg. I was bending the elbow and the forearm came off. Not broken, just annoying I had to roll up the sleeve all the way to reattach).

- The blaster and droid caller holsters are too thin to actually place the accessories properly into them. At the factory, whoever packaged them shoved them all the way in, which deforms the holsters a little and makes it very hard to remove the accessories (be careful not to snap the blaster!!).

- The stands are pretty crap, but ultimately are a necessity since the figures do not stand on their own very well due to floppy knees and body.

Summary:
Overall despite the negatives, I'm actually pretty happy with them. I think they do look nice on display, especially with the droids. Are they worth $220? That's borderline I would say. With the pros and cons above, I would say a price around $180-$190 would be OK. But in the end, they're pretty nice representations of the characters, especially for fans of the first movie.

Thanks for the photos and comments. I enjoy futzing and it looks like there's a lot to work with here. Huge drag about the floppy bodies...hope it's not that way in the entire run. That could put a crimp in my plans to snap some shots of these guys on my next desert trip...we'll see.

Looking forward to your video...always makes the wait easier...thanks again for this early look...
