I dunno... I was thinking exactly the same thing as Pixel :lol

Yoda is as underwhelming a likeness as Han, Obi Wan and Luke. For two hundred bucks. It's reinforced for me that my SW shelf begins and ends with ANH.

I'd rather have the jawas.

I'm getting both but you can't really compare the jawas to yoda. I wouldn't say one is a better value than the other. Sure you get 2 jawas, that's great. And sure the jawas light up. But no stands and really no sculpts/paintwork. Yoda comes with 2 detailed heads, a dio base, etc. And its yoda so there is probably some bogus A-list tax. All this stuff costs too much but between the jawas and yoda I don't think I'll feel any better or worse value wise one vs. the other.

The jawas look acceptable to me as jawas. If I was happy with Yoda then I'd be ok with the price. So for me it's not about actual value so much as perceived value.

Yeah, you'd have to think that the headsculpt is the key cost factor in terms of sculpts/tweaks/complex paint. Jawas don't have a headsculpt. Yeah, they have a light-up feature, but so do Hasbro 3 3/4" figures from 15 years ago.

That is where we differ. I like the yoda figure. Could it be improved? Sure. But so could the jawas.

Nice chatting though :duff. I'm tapping out before you unleash the gifs:)

Yep. And ssc cited this as the reason why the new jason figure didn't get a sculpt even though a prototype was made. There are some unhappy folks in that thread.

I've been quoted $30 per head in resin fully painted to match my master if I order 100 units or $20 in PVC if I order 500. I'd be surprised if HT's cost is higher than $5.

Which head and quoted from whom?

Prices to mass-produce your own finished head, I thought that was pretty clear, having said "my master." Those are factory production costs, FOB the factory location (this means you pay for shipping).

There are loads of ways to solve the power source issue, but before that point, there need to be a bunch of deign considerations for how to route the electrical connections on the figure itself. That's the most tricky part, IMO because it can quickly take a base body from generic to custom, which isn't good for the bottom line.

You can run wiring/connections outside the body and under the clothing more easily for some figures and that would be a way around making custom considerations for the plastics, but it can't work for everything.

At the far end of the problem spectrum is a figure like HT's various Iron Man iterations. Some of those have many separate battery compartments even though the bodies and parts may only be for that one figure. That's a complicated one to solve because with lights on the extremities, you'd need multi-conductor couplings for all the joints if you want to be able to take it apart - at the very least wires would have to pass through the joints. Glad I don't collect Iron Man. :)

Like you know anything about electronics and small figures......LOL

No I meant which character, my master.:lol

And who did you seek out? How do you find a factory that can manufacture heads for you?

I keep trying to convince myself to be happy with what I have and quit or at least cut back. Hell I meant to buy just a 1/6 Luke and Vader, that's it. I'm too far gone now, I'll probably be done when my spare bedroom is floor to ceiling hot toys/sideshow boxes.
Truthfully in terms of Star Wars I feel like I'm at the slowing down phase. With most of the main characters from A New Hope in hand that covers a lot of what I want. Now I have the Jawas and Boba Fett coming soon and Yoda on pre-order. I feel like once we get Lando, Jedi Luke, and the Emperor I could be satisfied for the most part.

A would probably snap up Jedi Luke and Emperor....All the rest of the HT line just do not hit that mark for me.....close but no cigar. (except Leia, and I am waiting for Slave Leia......

I wouldn't buy Leia without Luke, and Luke is not so hot, HT....

So my hope is a great Jedi Luke and a great Emperor.....to display with the great Vader....

Thank you gents. It's hard never knowing exactly how the robes will turn out and you can only work with what you get, but luckily we get gold a lot of the time.
