Deadpool: 8.5/10

I'm judging this as an action comedy, and man, did it succeed in being one of the best action comedies in years! You could tell that the budget was small, and personally, I liked that. It made for a more personal movie. As a longtime 'Pool fan, I was pleased that we got a mix of all the different versions and not just WayPool. All in all, it could have been a teeny, tiny bit better, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Carnage: 9/10

It might seem boring to some, but as a fan of "smaller" movies with casts of less than 5 people, this was a treat. It played like a college film, but with experienced actors. It was surreal, to the point that I felt uneasy at times. I mean, it was so "mundane", that I thought something shocking was sure to follow. Surely a great dark comedy that I wouldn't mind revisiting.

The Witch 8/10

Beautifully filmed and acted its a movie that sinks in deeper well after viewing it, and wont be forgotten anytime soon. I'd say its better to sell this movie to someone as an intense family drama set in the 1600s that eventually takes a turn into horror territory but not in the typical sense. No jump scares, or overly violent imagery, just a maddening descent into hysteria and evil. I've always loved the idea of witches and I think this movie nails down all those things that frightened me as a child. The witch is hardly the focal point of the film, but the film does recall some classic imagery that we all know and love (fear?) about witches. By the final shot a sense of dread and evil is deeply embedded into the minds of the audience. And as a bonus the score equally as disturbing. Would definitely recommend for those with patience looking for food for thought. Certainly not for those who find themselves coming out of horror movies saying "THat wasn't even scary" "That's how it ends?"

Glad to hear the good reviews for this film, I've been wanting to see this one for months. I look forward to a genuinely good horror movie, as I hate slasher and gore porn movies. To me, the great horror films are more like The Shining and Rosemarys Baby.

In my theater many people booed and shouted they wanted their money back, which is an oddly a common thing for the more subtle horror movies out there (even for krampus, which I found to be a satisfying experience). I find myself looking for any movie similar to the witch to watch now, which is a sign of a good movie. Sometimes a movie gets in your head and you want to visit a similar experience with different movie but it always seems next to impossible with something this unique. If anyone has any suggestions let me know

Its hard to say but based on different reasons like tone, setting, subject matter: kill list, babadook, anti-Christ.

Out of those 3 I've seen Babadook. I liked Babadook but not it's ending.

The one with Liam Neeson. I was ready to write it off as just another Neeson thriller but I’m surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. It had me guessing and on the edge of my seat til the last minute.

Not to me; I loved that movie! It was the first (and only movie) that I saw with John C. Reilly, and I was shocked with how good he was since everything he was in never appealed to me. Everyone was great though, and it was very true to life. I love intimate movies like Carnage, Repulsion, Rear Window, The Conversation, Sunset Limited, and Locke. There's so many awesome movies with characters confined to a single room. That's one of the reasons why "The Fly" was one of my favorite Breaking Bad episodes. I'm always a drama guy first...except when it comes to BvS, I'm making an exception because Batman LOOKS AWESOME!
