Deadpool - 8/10

Man, what a breath of fresh air. It's like an elevated Troma film - 80's levels of violence, gore, full-frontal nudity and screwball humour. Not entirely perfect, but neatly avoids or parodies most of the more obnoxious tropes of a superhero origin film. Also takes a few swipes at the worst trends of both modern Hollywood and the modern comics industry that sadly will go over most casual viewer's heads.

Probably my favourite comicbook movie since Blade.

Just finsihed watching Divergent and Insurgent last night. My wife read the books and really wanted to see them so I finally conceded and we sat down to a 4 hour Divergent/Insurgent marathon. Initally they looked like more young adult films like Twilight or Hunger Games, but I have to admit that I actually enjoyed them. I thought Divergent was definitely the better of the two, but even Insurgent was pretty well done and for the most part entertaining. I would probably give Divergent an 8/10 and Insurgent a 6.5/10.

We thought the final movie was coming out next month, which is one of the main reasons why we decided to finally sit down and watch these films. We figured we could close the series out just a month or two after seeing the first film. Unfortunately, we didn't know that they had decided to split the final film into 2 films, which is clearly the popular thing to do in Hollywood these days, so they can make even more money on the franchise! So now we have to wait a full year to close out the series. F'ing Hollywood, lol.

This is good to hear. I'll probably be seeing it next week. It might end up becoming one of if not the most successful R rated film made.

Crimson Peak 3.5 out of 5. I enjoyed it. Sort of a strange way to tell a story. I could give you spoilers and it would spoil nothing as you know what is going on from the very beginning. You are always three pages ahead of the plot and it's reveals. I don;t know if that was intentional but I did not mind. I enjoyed watching the main character grow and waited to see how her story panned out in the end. Beautiful film to look at from frame one. 3 and 1/2 out of 5 for me.

Spectre - 6.5/10

It was alright, not as bad as QOS, but nowhere near as good as CR and Skyfall. If this is Craig's final Bond, wish they could have gone out on a better note.

I'm really happy to hear Deadpool is a win. I'll get to watch it in my new house theater in a few months or so.

Lucky # Slevin. 10/10. Just fantastic. Slick. Clever. Entertaining. Funny. Compelling. Solid gangster movie.

Really underappreciated.

Man, I haven't even thought about that movie in years.

After that one I hope it is his last. He's bored off his tree with the role so give it to someone else or shelve Bond for a while again.

These were some of the most generic and pointless movies in recent memory. Pretty much all these recent 'small group of teenagers save the world' movies.

Night of the living dead - 8,5/10

Despite technical flaws it is indeed a groundbreakin' film of its time.
Most likely my first AND last viewing, I didn't enjoy it.
DotD is still the best zombie film in my book.
