Sold a PCS piece on eBay

Id like to use funds for this. Are the gift certificates on the site applicable only to US residents?

Have money now, by the time this ships Id probably have spent it on something else

Id prefer to just pay in full now

Out of sight out of mind

Edit

Goblin from an opportunity cost perspective will cost me $300

The Sideshow gift cards are US only

Man, have to get this piece. I like the no Ex. on this one. Hopefully, demand will be low and QC good.

Not to be a **** stirrer, but what is the justification for such a noticeable price increase on this piece? I feel like it should be the same price as Spiderman. Maybe slightly more.

As the times change (inflation, QC, etc.), things go up. I think it's a bit high, but yeah, those are the trends. (I hear you though).

theory on why some items like Batman and Spider-Man PF remain "low" in price in comparison to villains and C-Tier Characters.

Economies of scale - In microeconomics, economies of scale are the cost advantages that enterprises obtain due to size, output, or scale of operation, with cost per unit of output generally decreasing with increasing scale as fixed costs are spread out over more units of output.

----

Arbitrage - The simultaneous purchase and sale of an asset in order to profit from a difference in the price. It is a trade that profits by exploiting price differences of identical or similar financial instruments, on different markets or in different forms.

----

Sideshow offers coupons and discounts this time of year, the price factors in the redemption of these coupons.

They logically assume that more people on average are interested in A-Tier characters like Spider-Man and Batman, therefore the factory quotes them on a lower per unit cost due to higher demand.

To produce a C-tier character, demand is lower and costs are higher since production does not utilize discounts of economies of scale.

Fewer people will buy Goblin verses someone like Batman and Spider-Man therefore their costs have a higher break even point to profit.

They are in the business to profit, nothing illogical about that.

I can understand a gradual increase from inflation both in the US economy and Chinese but the QC has not gotten any better imo. If anything it's steadily declining especially in the higher ES pieces. I was contemplating getting this to pair with Spiderman but I'm gonna have to pass. I can't justify that price increase for what would have just been something "non essential" to my collection. Hopefully it performs like Superman PF of Christopher Reeve on the secondary market. Then I'm in.

I can definitely see those points. I'm merely speculating. I think some of it is simply because they can (and people continue to buy....like myself.) :lol

Found a Canadian place selling Green Goblin for 679.99 with $15 shipping. Sad thing is 520 American is actually 715 Canadian right now. Then add on $50 shipping 80 import fees 680 bucks is a god damn steal of a deal :slap No possible way I can justify spending that much on a character I'm not a huge fan of.

Spiderman is $550 Canadian where sideshow is $649......I just might lose out on ANOTHER RND. Even with the $40 loss I'd still save around 140 bucks. However it would mean no exclusive for me. :gah:

I learned the best thing to do is get rid of the pieces you don't like in your collection, for the pieces you do.

easy peasy.

Hi,

Does anyone know where I could get statues like this one and other ones in from the UK and not US?

I have seen a few sites that do them but not 100% sure as they cost a bit more.

I have seen a few sites that do them but not 100% sure as they cost a bit more.

Collectibles direct is usually the best place in the UK for these, or Forbidden planet, they will always cost more here in the UK because those sites still have to pay taxes, import fees, etc and then sell them to the customer at a profit, Collectibles Direct have a lay away payment system so that makes it a bit easier to afford.

Of course if you get them direct from Sideshow it makes it a lot easier to get refund/replacement if the statue is damaged.

If you are getting into this hobby then you just have to accept that we will pay more for these pieces since we are international customers.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

I agree. Letting go of pieces you don't need generates money and space to use on upcoming statues you do want. I've sold off some of my collection and it's made picking up new pieces easier.

I'm seriously looking at selling some of my collection off, just wondering if Ebay is still as ****** as the past and has it gotten worse?? That's pretty much the only thing holding my back from selling, having to deal with scammers on evilbay...

Especially with the dollar exchange the way it is, I will stand to make money even on the items that haven't inflated terribly or even devalued, while some others have skyrocketed.

Why don't you try selling here?

I'd like to see what SS would do with Kraven, I like XMs take on the character but there's no way I'm paying the XM price to get it.

Hydro and Sandman might be interesting to see but not likely.

Now that I think about it, you are probably right

The companion piece to Symbiote Spidey is most likely Sandman

and Doc Ock is the other villain that's in the works (according to SSC there are two pieces in the pipeline)

Sandman and Doc Ock seem highly probable

----

I'm kinda rooting for Scorpion or Kraven myself (maybe even Chameleon)

Wasn't a new Venom heavily hinted at? I think that when Igo confirmed no classic head for Green Goblin he also added something about another very fan loved character for which they were working on a long time requested switch out, and people immediatly thought it was a Venom with a McFarlane switch out head.
Good point about Sandman, I'm still debating about how to build my display. I have the Symbiote on order but I can't afford to add many villains, a Venom vs Symbiote would be a classic fight diorama, but Sandman would provide some more interesting colors to the display.
