He was gluing the nameplates at first, but now he does not. And I love having the versatility on display because of that.

SSC has a 20% code for this right now but I'm still having difficulty pulling the trigger, mostly because I already have an Iron Patriot. I'm thinking about holding out for IM2 WM or what may be released from Civil War; are there any pics released from Civil War, other than what's in the trailer?

There is the promo art too. Personally I would wait for the CW version, assuming they make it of course.

I can see why people might want to hold out for the Mk3, or the Mk1 for that matter. I may have done that myself if I hadn't gotten my Mk2 before images on the Mk3 emerged or the announcement of a diecast Mk1. BUT, I will say that the MK 2 in of itself is a beautiful figure and makes for a great representation of War Machine to have.

I would also say that any of these War Machine figures will ultimately be really cool, but I imagine that it is very possible that the price for the future diecast ones will cost even more. Getting Mk 2 new at 20% may be the best deal on the character we will see. If the particular version of the character isn't that important to you this might be the version to get giving you the most value.

The more I look at the Mk3 from the CW trailer, the more I'm convinced I should just get the Mk1 DC and call it a day. The new design just looks a bit off.

Hopefully the trend continues and I can catch this a few months down the road after release at a discounted rate instead of spending top dollar like on this version. Lack of experience. I ordered this within days thinking "exclusive" meant limited. Won't make that mistake again unless it's for a figure where I know won't look back and regret paying the premium price.

I agree. I myself prefer the looks of the Mark I and the AoU over the CW.

Unless it's a really appealing exclusive, just about all HT figures will be discounted, somewhere at some time down the line.

Yea that's what I gathered from the few months I've been on this board. Slowly learning the ropes.

I still haven't learned, even after paying full price for the Batman Armory, three RoboCop figures and the Hulk deluxe set. :slap :lol

I'm waiting for the next SSC code so I can finally PO HT Vader even though I'm pretty sure he'll be around for at least several months and therefore subject to some sort of discount.

That Vader figure looks amazing with a little bit of futzing. And as much as I say I'm learning, we'll see how I hold up once POs for the XLVI and III come out. I always semi-panic that something I really like will sell out so I end up not taking any chances :slap

There are so many places to buy figures from these days, I'm hardly preordering anything.

It's very easy to get caught up in the hype of an exclusive figure, but look what happened with the Stealth VII. Waitlisted within hours and now people can't sell them for retail prices because so many are trying to sell at the same time.

This WM was just too overpriced from the get go for me and seeing as the character was barely even in the film, I scrapped it from my want list.

They are limited, but limited doesn't mean its desirable. This is the 4th paintjob on this same exact figure (+/- the star on the chest) and the most expensive so far-

IM3 $285
Patriot $310
Hot Rod $295
AoU $340

IM3 and Iron Patriot go for $100 under retail. Hot Rod is the only one that you could break even on right now. They oversaturated the hell out of the War Machine market, and given that the majority of War Machine fans either like the Mark 1 best (and a re-release is coming soon) or like what they see in the CW concept art, that has even further dropped the bottom out of the market of this line.

Not everything will fall below retail (see AoU Cap), but the one thing that is probably on people's minds now more than ever is there will be lots more figures to come, and plenty of re-releases too in the Iron Man arena. If something doesn't really float your boat, don't be afraid to hold off.

Great first point. It's something I find really refreshing and one of the aspects I love about this hobby. Resellers are everywhere, but it doesn't seem too ingrained in figure collecting. And people (seemingly) don't bend to the will of resellers. Mark VII Stealth is a good example of how a limited figure was sold to a bunch resellers who are now sitting on what they thought was going to be an awesome investment.

Definitely a lot more figures to come. This is a great time for Hot Toys. Between Star Wars and Marvel, they're breaking the bank. Not to mention Batman vs. Superman. PLUS revisiting the IM line, whew! So I'm definitely going to be extremely picky and smart about what I pull the trigger on and when.

I was so tempted to get this armor on sale but I can not pull the trigger. The DC mk 1 is what I'm eyeing up. Besides, it will allow me to have a Iron man 2 display since I have mk 6 and dc whiplash already

Not sure if already posted but this guy is now available for $192 with free shipping after discount + coupon code listed on page. I can't afford it right now so I figure I should let everyone know. Unless someone wants to hook a brother up that is out of work and addicted to plastic crack! :panic:
