Mr Fell Beast, I noticed your tag line of "Better then you" - I may be missing the context, but if I'm not, then one thing you're not better than me at is the use of then vs. than, lol. :nana:

CONGRADS as you are the first one to call me out on that, I forgot about that line!!!

NICE!!

Lol, no worries. I had a guy in my fantasy football league whose team name was Drunken Monkies for 2 years before I was finally like "Dude, it's Monkeys."

In honor of you I am going to leave it..............:wave

Hi just to be sure you did not mean my pics were of a recast? you are correct about the styrofoam, also things to look for on the shipping box is postage labels, dates etc, always good if the statue comes with these as this type of info can't be faked.

Back in January 2013 I unknowingly purchased a recast RWOS from ebay. I found out that my new RWOs was a recast after reading this thread. My recast RWOS looked just like the one in Daimon's pictures. Daimon purchased his RWOS from dmkworkshop and I purchased mine from a seller in California. After much research I have come to the conclusion that my RWOs probably originated with dmkworkshop. After suffering through alot of despair and regret I decided to keep the fake RWOS. And then i purchased a real one last week. Now I have both a fake and a real one(don't hate me because I kept the fake).

I thought that the fake one looked pretty darn good until I compared it with the real RWOS. You all were correct about the off-color paint job. I looked at alot of photos of other people's RWOSs and I found myself really wanting a rwos with those milky muddy hooves.

There is one other thing I wanted to add about the recast RWOS. It
seems to be heavier than the real one. Here is a photo of both the recast and the real RWOs tht I took with my itouch.

The one on the left is the recast. I did think that the flash would change how both statues would look in the picture. I could try to take some more pictures. I believe that the one on the left is a recast because the ebay picture looked just like Daimon's picture. Both statues have the same yucky styrofoam.

The first picture is the same one that Daimon posted at the beginning of this thread. The second picture is from the ebay listing of the the RWOS that I purchased in January. And the third one is a picture of the RWOS that I purchased last week.

Take a look at the pics and tell me what you think.

I have a real ringwraith now and I'm happy about that. I only wish that I knew about recasts and this website before I purchased the recast. By the way, there were four other recasts listed on ebay around the same time that I purchased mine. All the sellers(probably the same seller) used the same pictures in each listing. All four recasts were sold!

I just bought an original RWOS, I will post some pictures that I took last night with the phone.

Hi Daimon :wave, they both look great to me. :rock

How different are they, seeing them side-by-side in hand?

First the recast is smaller, the ringwraith looks almost to the side instead to the front. The details are really close but still not as nicely done as on the original. The wooden base is smaller and the details of the engraving on the wood is not that good.
If I get some time I will use my dslr to take some pictures of the differences.

I didn't even know that recasts were even made! Great info on this site to protect buyers from future purchases. Thanks for the heads up!

Tnx for the photo's you can clearly see now some differences between the original one and the fake one.

What are you going to do with the fake?
Just keep it or sell it?

Hi, found this old thread while searching google for some info, hoping this will bump to recent and someone will be able to help.

I live in England, not a Sideshow or even memorabilia collector but have been wanting a mounted Ringwraith ever since I saw a 54mm white metal one from the Ralph Bakshi film in a shop when I was little and wasn't allowed to have it :-( I meant to buy the Sideshow version when it was released but events conspired to stop me again. Now I'm on the hunt for one & found this on ebay at a vaguely affordable price but am concerned it might be fake. The mud splattering looks very heavy & the browns of leather & painted reins don't look like they quite match. But the seller & their history seem genuine enough, although I guess that doesn't mean it isn't fake & they may have bought it in good faith.

First link is the affordable ebay one, second link is a too expensive one on Amazon that I'm comparing with and that looks totally genuine. Sad thing with replica's, during my google travels I even found the Chinese are making bronze castings of them now, $1k a pop!
