Its been a long time since Ive played MGS, it was 2011 I think when they closed MGO on the PS3 down. Ive only played 1-4, so what would be a good point to jump back in? I watched the launch trailer and saw Metal Gear Erect and im hugely confused and lost.

Man I'm glad someone else shares that sentiment on those weirdos. Post after post of different versions it's insane.

I mean I like MGS and consider it one of my favourite franchises overall in the things I like, but come on... some of those guys spend some serious time actually jerking it over MGS it would have you believe by reading some of the stuff they are posting.

I just wonder why companies can't make a normal-sized LE anymore. Just have a special artwork box, an extra DVD (or an art book), and presto, it's an LE. But, it's not just MGS V. I really couldn't care less about all of the frills and cheap plastic that comes with limited edition game releases these days.

I swear, 99% just come across as ignorant sheep that just eat it up solely on the fact it's MGS... just look at how much praise PW gets... like it was ****ing memorable or iconic? Are you high?

They got to be, most probably got introduced to MGS with MGS4 or anything after. I still can't believe were approaching 20 years since MGS1... I feel old.

We've discussed it so much already, but I think it's a lot of the new fans who've recently come into the series that have been hyping this game to oblivion. Yeah, it's doing well in reviews, just like every other MGS game that has come before it. But, if you've been following this series since 1998, there's no reason to get so defensive about it. You can appreciate the series, but the writing is so spotty, and some games end up being much better (or more nonsensical) than others. That's just the reality of MGS.

I just think if anyone's had their rose-colored glasses on since MGS 1 and still thinks that this series represents the pinnacle of great storytelling, they probably have a severe case of aspergers.

Kojima is like any actor that has been in some really great films in his early days... and the last few have been lackluster... but he's still loved and doesn't get the beating he deserves because of former accomplishments.
