There is something off with that BD Lager shield for me. I love BD as mentioned above, but I think they went a little too over the top with the spray on the red and didn't fade the blue enough. It looks exactly what it is, random airbrush blotches. Would have looked better with a dirty wash all over and just highlight where the BD hits are on the shield.

I am a fan of Lager stuff, I have their Mjolnir which is very nice for the price and what it is. Just not feeling the shield.

It's not airbrushed damage. It's actually damaged, real sratches. Silver parts are the real metal from the shield under paint. Only the black has been painted. It's all good though, just wanted to point that out. No more Lager talk in the KA thread from me anymore, sorry guys.

So I just took some more pics of the 2 shields.

EFX is 24" diameter. 1/2" thickness. 9" diameter star.

King Arts is 23-1/2" diameter. 1/4" thickness, 8-1/2" diameter star.

Trying to figure out how to position the 2 shields together to show thicknesses. Top one is King Arts (still screwed into the stand). Lower one is EFX (supported by my knees).

I didn't take pics of the measurements of the stars as I didn't want to try resting my tape measure on my domed shields to potentially scratch it while taking the pic. But trust me. It is 8-1/2" diameter for the King Arts. And 9" diameter for the EFX.

Great measurements and thanks for the pics. I would unscrew the KA shield and remeasure the diameter on there. it should be 24" just like the efx. I think you may be cheating it with the mount on there. The pic looks like the ruler is going at an angle off from center. You might get an extra inch if you measure straight across the middle.

No it's not. The tape measure is metallic and is straight across. Not a seamstress cloth tape measure looking to cheat lengths

It is 23.5" diameter. Had to support the tape measure heavy end with a candy tin so it wouldn't tip over for the photo.

I think he was asking if the tape measure is going straight through the center of the shield or if it's slightly above the center, in which case the length would show as a bit shorter than directly through the center diameter? It might be, I can't tell because the back of the pedestal is blocking the way.

I wouldn't measure anywhere else other than the center. Because that would be the whole intent of measuring the diameter is at the center.

To be honest, I don't truly know that answer at this point. Perhaps, I haven't fully thought it out. Each has its own great features.

EFX photographs better because it doesn't have the glare of the metal and clearcoating, which is what we also see on-screen in some scenes in the Avengers and Captain America The Winter Soldier movies. The leather straps are really nice. The accuracy and size of the star. Limited edition of 1500 shields worldwide.

King Arts is a real metal shield (i.e. fully front and back). It's got that nice metal clink or twang sound to it. Since you guys asked for the knock video, every time I walk by it, I have to knock on it with my knuckles to remind myself of the nice metal sound. I fully blame you guys for this . But it is not as accurate as the EFX and the straps are cheap. The star is noticeably smaller but better detailed. But even though the shield is thinner than the EFX, it is heavier due to it being fully metallic.

Just from seeing photos of the various shields on the internet, at this point, I think I would have to say the Chris Fields shield may be my all-time favorite. High accuracy metallic shield at its finest. Too bad I haven't started this hobby collecting when he was making these shields and completely missed out these runs before Marvel stepped in with their legal action.

So I don't know if my thoughts of these 2 shields will help you in any way because I like both in their own ways. Personally I would typically prefer the metal shield over the non-metal. But the accuracy thing also plays a pivotal role in me deciding. Neither shield is perfect. Both are close and better in different ways. If you are debating between which is better to get if you are restricted at purchasing only one of them, then it will all depend on your own personal preference. To me, it is still a toss up. The Lager shield also has a nice front finish, but I can't remember of the back resin material is true to the movie or not. If Cap's shield was a full piece of vibranium prototype shield from Howard Stark's lab, and all he did was paint the outside red and blue, then the back of the shield would still be bare vibranium, in which case the Lager shield should not have a resin material on the back of the shield. Sorry my inner geek is speaking outloud

Beautifully said and a very fair assessment of both. For me it was being able to answer "absolutely; it was made in concert with the same guys who made the ones Chris Evans carried on film" and direct a bunch of complete non-geeks to the story within the EFX COA and be genuinely impressed was enough to make the EFX my display keeper.

I really like that metal sound to it and the display stand, but I don't think I could order both shields and sell one later, I'm not really a reseller and I don't want to risk running into a transaction issue and deplete my funds completely for both. I want to get it signed by Stan Lee since he was an early writer on it (Simon and Kirby autographs are unfortunately not possible) and someone said there may be an issue signing the metal shield? Does permanent sharpie not stay on metal? The carry-on bag is also helpful but I wish it also came with a display stand instead of that wall mount, which I cannot use.

I know what you mean about the potential hassles of reselling. I haven't sold anything before because I fear the hearing about horror stories and that some buyers trying to rip sellers off.

The King Arts pedestal is a really nice display stand. So it is great for displaying. Although, mine is currently sitting on the floor right now. But it gets dusty. So I have to wipe the shield down with a soft cloth often.

Coincidentally, my EFX shield is also sitting on the floor but is stored in the carrying case and leaning against the wall. I too find the EFX wall hanger is a little lacking in excitement. That's why for now my EFX shield is being stored in the carrying case like a musical instrument I like the carrying case more than the wall mount. And being in the carrying case protects it from dust accumulation.

Would you have the shield signed on the front or back? I would think a sharpie would be fine to be signed on any surface. Probably would take just a little longer to dry on metal though. So be careful with that to not get the signature smudged if the ink is still a bit wet. It would be cool to get it signed by Stan Lee that's for sure.
