I opened a case through PayPal, I sort of feel bad because I don't know for sure that the auction isn't legitimate but something doesn't feel right. I wish I had paid more attention before jumping on placing a bid. I'm usually pretty cautious when buying on eBay, I just saw what appeared to be a good deal and jumped on it.

Don't feel bad, it happens to most of us at one point or another. I learned my lesson when I used to collect Hot Toys Marvel stuff and got stuck with a bootleg Wolverine. The deal was too good to be true for a reason in that case lol. It's definitely better not to wait to open a case if it doesn't feel right.

This, Bossk and IG-88 has been advancing on my want list for quite sometime now. Ive decided that Im going for Imperials and bad guys only.

Not going to be able to get it at the moment unfortunately but atlest I can be pretty sure that HT will make a new Boba.

i think if hot toys is making a 1/4 scale boba fett which looks 150% accurate , im sure they will do a 1/6 one too > this SSC Boba I love a lot , but hes not worth some ebay prices at the moment , scalpers are wanting too much for it .

I went a total of 11 days without Boba in the collection after selling mine, and now he's back!

Definitely better chest armour, and the shin pockets as has been mentioned earlier, do seem slightly smaller.

Overall, very happy to have it again.

So I just snagged this figure off of eBay for $187.50 shipped.

You just outbid me on that auction actually. I bid just over 185. THANKS! ;)

I opened a case through PayPal,

That's not right. That's totally uncalled for and in my opinion, a very rude and aggressive move. You're sending the seller a message right away that you may be a scammer buyer. You are protected by eBay and their subsidiary PayPal, so you should wait a reasonable amount of time to receive the product and inspect it before taking any action. Disputes are not for "feelings" under any circumstances.

It is against policy to ship without tracking though. And for things to take 30 days to ship starts to get very close to the period that you can no longer file a claim. They should be using tracking for their own seller protection on $187 items.

Dammit. Pixelpiper is more and more on point with each passing day - :wink1:

He's right. According to your posts, barely more than 24 hours has passed between your purchase and your formal complaint. You gots to chill, man. I've purchased many items from overseas, and I've yet to be burned. Sometimes it's taken a little longer to arrive than I'd like, and without a tracking number, but it gets here in about two or three weeks.

Do you think I'd be best off opening a case right away or should I try contacting the seller first?

You'd ALWAYS be better off trying to contact the seller first. It makes any claim you file stronger, if you have to take it to the next level. That's a no-brainer.

I'd like to know why you think this. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think you're wrong. Emphatically.

I haven't heard back from the seller yet despite sending one message on PayPal and one through eBay. Honestly I may have jumped the gun but it seemed kind of fishy and I'm still not entirely sure what to think about the situation. I was able to view his history of items sold and he seems to have previously sold small inexpensive watches and bracelets and stuff, no 1/6th stuff at all. I mostly found the no tracking thing and the fact that he sent a shipping notification within twenty minutes of my purchase odd. For one I would think they'd want to protect themselves and provide w tracking number and it seems odd to mark something shipped that quickly. Maybe I over-reacted but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Honestly my eBay track record is good and I only filed a claim one other time for an incorrect item that was quickly resolved.

He JUST won the auction. You have 180 days to file a claim with PayPal.

You definitely jumped the gun. I can understand feeling uneasy about a fairly high-priced item, but you never want to jump the gun. Especially with something like eBay and PayPal, where you ARE protected.

No worries, I hope this is all for naught and your Fett gets there safe and sound.

I freaked a bit by some of the posters in here. I didn't think much of the transaction other than it seemed odd to not get a tracking number and the item marked as shipped so quickly. In hindsight I should have waited but I got paranoid.

Well, I'll certainly look like a jerk if something goes wrong, but my bet is that all will be well.

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, so don't read this and think that, but it's got to be said.

By filing before you could ever hope to receive the item, you're not being safe, you're being disrespectful at the very least. I sell things for a living, but I haven't done an eBay sale in 5 or 6 years, only purchases, but I'd never think to file anything the day the auction closes. It sends an alarming message. You have to give people the benefit of the doubt, that's what eBay is all about and that's why the various protections are in place. If someone ever filed a claim on any of my sales before an item was shipped, I'd immediately cancel the sale, refund them their money and be on my way - that type of dispute sends up a HUGE red flag that they're going to be a problem buyer. If I had already sent the item I'd be super paranoid that buyer was going to rip me off - that's one reason I'd never, under any circumstances, sell anything on eBay without a tracking number. But just because someone else chooses to do so doesn't make them a crook - it means they're either very trusting or a little naive that someone else isn't going to rip them off. I buy plenty of items that get shipped without tracking. I don't sweat it because I know I'm protected.

Also, to satisfy my curiosity, on what grounds could any dispute be filed? Did you put through an item not received? If so, I consider that fraud. Yikes.

I hope you get the item and at that time close any pending disputes and send the guy an apology along with positive feedback.
