Ehh.. you guys should know by now - SSC are the approximation kings. :lol

In looking over a few figs I thought I'd catch up on, they do seem to have missed the bullseye (in terms of screen accuracy) on the head/helmet sculpts of Fett, IG-88, Bossk, stormtrooper and Vader... and upcoming, both 3PO and Biker Scout have some issues.

Fortunately they nailed the headsculpt on Luke X-Wing. Maybe if everything was $240 this would be fixed...:wink1:

Kind of hard to be harp on it though - the inaccuracy is subtle and the rest of all the figs mentioned are pretty stellar.

General Grevious came out earlier this year at $250 which definately stung, but was mainly accepted after a three year wait for development and production. Vader also came out for this price and included numerous accessories (wanted or not) and was a huge jump from the previous big name release of Boba Fett in 2012 for $175. The pricing on these figures has climbed and will continue to do so. R2 almost feels like a steal now compared to the other figs.
3po's price is unfortunately a bit high, but is a reflection of the research and development that has been invested in him. Personally, i think he looks great, small inaccuracies aside, and will be part of my collection.
The pics shown of the two droids look fantastic, but if R2 was just a touch taller, they would be perfectly scaled to each other.
Can't wait for the po to be up!

I just hope SSC 3PO doesn't come out with a production finish looking like SSC's version of a certain artifact in your avatar.:lol

So, if The SW license is so expensive as SS has stated, why is something that has unique tooling (and can't be repurposed) come in at less than Luke's price? Something seems fishy.

Maybe when Lucas sold LF, part of the deal was that the SW actors (whose actual faces were shown on film) would get a piece of the pie for any new merchandise using said likeness. C-3po wouldn't fall under that as it doesn't show Anthony Daniels, face. Lucas taking care of his peeps? Just a guess.

What, oh you mean dullest, crappy and totally wrong gold. Hey i love that finish! :)
But seriously, yeah i also hope they can avoid this type of thing happening to the final product.

Had it occurred to you that those discrepancies may look less significant to those not wearing 'AR' colored glasses?
Of course mate - but I was responding to Talibane's post specifically, right?

Credit to him certainly, but he's been pretty engaged in the detail debate too for what it's worth, so you just fired a rubber bullet. :lol

I know it's not black & white like that, I've already said in multiple threads around here that my unconditional love for HT has pretty much dissipated anyway, but really - unless they use a rubber body suit for Vader, & make him too short this time, they'll have the fundamental details handled much more properly - i.e, helmet sculpt / shape / size, better overall proportions - & yes, a MUCH better tailored bodysuit.

Type this a few times in every response - "The power of the sculpt compels you... "

He'll talk smack about your mother, but he'll back down.

Why not go all the way? :lol

Cause they nailed that so well with Han and Chewie.

I'm surprised Hot Toys is still being hailed as the perfect Star Wars messiah given how off those figs are. Their stormies look better but the helmet sculpts are also way off.

A) the Han & Chewie are ages away - so however unlikely you feel it, tweaks are possible.

B) Their Stormie sculpts are way off? Ok.. so elaborate - please, don't just throw that out there. :lol

Round headed 3PO doesn't look like 3PO. Doesn't have the correct personality in the face. It's not just a case of helmet inaccuracy with this one.

There may be inaccuracies (I don't notice them) in the HT troopers, but they look like the bestest most accurate Stormies we have seen so far. HT did an amazing job with the Troopers IMO.

The slender body on this looks like a better sculpt than the Tamashii one. Everything else though? Not a patch. Looks like an impersonator 3P0, personality/character wise. The Tamashii feels and looks like THE C3PO.

R2 looks great though. :rock
