It's too bad this isn't doing better. They should have gotten off their asses and released this a couple years after the first instead of waiting almost 10 years. The marketing was nonexistent so I don't know what they expected it to do except fail. It may do better when it goes to DVD/Blu-ray/Digital.

I blame Robert Rodriguez. He's the reason this film bombed. His reputation and his track record are terrible, that's why the film failed. Why do Leonardo Dicaprio films make money? Because people trust him, and they know his films are good or of a certain quality, but Rodriguez has been making terrible movies for 9 straight years, so why would anyone go see his movies? His name is synonymous with low quality films like Machete 1 and 2, Planet Terror, Spy Kids 4, and The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava girl. You can't take someone like that seriously...

That's what really killed this, IMO. You could see a bomb coming at SDCC but not quite this big.

The Machete trailer on Grindhouse, was a work of art.

And almost in true fashion, the actual Machete movie was close to grindhouse flick. The sequel was absurd and had no grindhouse charm.

It looks like the performance of RR sequels will be consistent. I can't see Sin City 2 doing much more than that after this dismal opening weekend.

I bought the Machete 2 Blu ray last week (cheap) and seeing it for the first time as well. It is what it is. Park everything at the door and either you enjoy it or you don't. I was entertained and surprised at the direction the second one went. I did keep thinking to myself while watching "Who is RR making this movie for? Does RR think he is going to make money?". Or is he doing this strictly for the fans!! I don't know the answer for that!

They def waited to long to make this, plus it's a horrible time to release this competition wise.

So is the general consensus to wait for bluray on this one. I loved the original, and I almost went yesterday.

I personally find Death Proof long, boring, annoying and pointless.

The ending is pretty awesome, but the girls talking is really boring and a little bit cringe worthy.
He tried to do what he did with they guys in Reservoir Dogs in the diner with the female characters and it comes off annoying as hell
