I think you're right. I also think that in all the photos I've seen, the lapels on the front should be folded, as in iminime's proto. The material of the coat is probably too thick and prevents it, but I plan on stitching it. I'm sure it will make a difference!:)

Looking at all the Sherlock photos on the web, the lapel is not usually completely flat to the coat but partially sticking up. So I don't think stitching is the answer. Ideally I think a wired collar would have been the best solution to get the look exactly right.

yeah... it needs something in there, but I really like the material chosen... looks great... feels great... just needs a little... something...

After undoing the scarf I found I couldn't get it back on to look right, so I went looking for instructions and found this:

Unfortunately the end result is backwards of how Sherlock normally wears it - so I flipped the image:

Nice! Yeah, the scarf definitely throws things off if just tied. That's why on mine I had just kind of laid it over the ends. But I'll definitely have to try this!

I did experiment with trying to keep the lapels down, but yeah, they won't stay on their own. Maybe just some wig tape might be a good solution.

Ah yes, the scarf is much better now.

As for the lapels, an iron MIGHT work but it's a pretty thick fabric. I'd be afraid to take an iron to it myself, not really knowing what material it is.

Never tried it myself, but I've seen wig tape talked of as a great solution to this problem, as you said.

Yes, you're right! Ideally a wire would be the best solution. Do you think it is possible to insert one without too much damage? I don't understand why they didn't think about it themselves!

what?? please tell me!! auuuughhh!!! must! know!

Well, it's hard to tell, but I think the lines on Watson's face look more crisply defined. The colors seem sharper too, more contrasted? Is that what you did? A wash for sunken ares and dry brushing with a lighter color on the raised areas? Eager to see better pics anyway!

Mine will be there tomorrow? Can't wait to have these in hand!:)

Oh, man I feel your pain!

According to Fedex, mine should be delivered tomorrow, but I seriously doubt that! Tracking shows they've driven it to the other side of the country! With my luck, he'll be delayed and with a nose rub!:(

Thanks. I know BCS will replace it, but after waiting so long I now have the figure but can't really enjoy it. It's such a small thing too - just large enough to look like a boil on the end of his nose, marring an otherwise great paint job.

Well, long ago, in a not so far away galaxy, Sideshow figures often came with a nose rub. A small touch up with acrylic paint and dull coat used to do the trick. Maybe you can fix it yourself! Would spare you waiting even more!;)

Ah! yes... exactly... a few wash layers... a few highlight layers... darkened the eyebrows, which were too light... added some layering to the hair colour... I know this sounds like a lot, but it really wasn't... was FUN!! hope y'all like!! It's a bit of a better pic... but I really need to shoot some more. Sadly, my 'real' camera is busted, so I have to rely on the iphone...

I'll be glad to see closeup of your Sherlock-seens to me-it's impirtabt changes done. And how you get his shoulders and head in so good proportions? It looks very human;)

Now that looks good! They look less pale and more defined. I will certainly keep mine as he comes, but since I plan on recasting the head to make an alternate sculpt with deerstalker, I'll certainly go this route! Great job!

Too bad you can't show close ups!:clap

thanks! I'll try to get some close ups... the iphone camera does distort, so I'll play a bit until I can get them... I'm not a perfect painter, though... I'm red/green colour blind, so I have to use paints out of the bottle without too much mixing, cause skin tones are tricky... so be gentle with me.
