The sadistic part if me hopes that happens, the Jar Jar part at least.

Surprised SSC hasn't made him. That's usually their M.O. Make stuff people DON'T want. :p

They been talking about anakin for awhile now, so u gotta think they should be somewhat close to showing a prototype right?

But I really want a HT Yoda, with PERS. At last the googly eyes would find the perfect figure.

Regarding the silly HT v Sideshow conversation, they are simply not in the same league.
They never have been. There are hits and missed on both sides. I have around 100 or so Hot Toys and about 30-40 Sideshow fugures, a few Medi's, a handful of EB figures. Nothing Sideshow have ever done comes near to the quality and sophistication of Hot Toys. It's preposterous to suggest anything else. So why wouldn't people be excited about this news?

I prefer SS as a company, meaning their attitude and interactivity, and I hope they continue to do well producing what they do best. Non human characters. Leave the humans to HT, sure the likeness may be off at times but at least they will look like human beings not dolls. The last few Sideshow heads in particular have been appalling by any standards. They would really need to up their game to be competitive.

One's likely not coming so you don't have anything to even worry about or consider. I just just feel sorry for the people delusional enough to believe that Hot Toys would release one immediately and that it would be any better than SSC's. Just like people thought SSC couldn't compete with Tama on a 3PO. Living in fantasy land. Every company in 1/6 today has hits and misses, no one hits it out of the park every time. And if anyone spends even 5 seconds in the DC forum they'll get eyeballs full of HT criticism and ridicule. It's amusing, no, hilarious, that some folks think HT is a panacea for Star Wars. I'm wondering what they base that on. DX07? Yeah, pretty good, far from flawless. Maybe all the Marvel stuff? They've yet to release a passable Tony Stark figure or Wolverine - they're all plagued with crazy number of issues and poor likenesses.

IMO, it's a good time for collectors with TWO great producers incensed for Star Wars. If we lost Sideshow in the Star Wars game it would be a truly sad day - there's no way Hot Toys or anyone else could take up the slack alone.

I collect 1/6, I'm not stuck to one producer. That said, I have a number of Sideshow *AND* Hot Toys products on my shelves and additional products from both pre-ordered or on schedule for the next 6 months.

You can bet your bottom dollar that as soon as HT got the green light to produce Star Wars figures, they started working on Vader. No brainer. They probably already have the Stormtrooper workers out, having helped SS with theirs.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

My theory is they will make the Episone 7 stuff in 1/6 and the classics in 1/4.

100% correct. :goodpost:

You don't think they will make 1/6 scale Stormtroopers, Boba Fett and Vader? From a financial point of view that makes no sense at all.

The possibilities are endless with a line like this. But due to cost and space concerns, I do have to limit myself. I never got too much into SSC's Star Wars line. And I would really only do 1/6 scale figures. But I did nab a Boba Fett, Vader, and Grevious. Even though HT could do a great job with these, I'd probably pass on any version they did of those characters. But anyone else? I'd at least have to think about it. Chewbacca could be epic if done right. Any any of the major leads - Luke, Leia, Han, Padme, Obi-Wan would at least make me consider. Hell, even Anakin :) And the bad guys would be likely purchases - Dooku or Maul. Not sure how much Hot Toys intends to flesh out the line. They've generally only stuck to the major characters in most lines. So we'll see...

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

With Rebels starting soon, I expect to see some 1/6 figures coming out soon from that. Hopefully Sabine will be first on the list. Think of the possibilities of a female Mandalorian. Can't wait!!!!

You can't forget who controls what gets made - LFL. And you can't forget who brings more money to the table, that's SSC. You have to balance releases between your licensees if you want to keep the peace. And HT and Sideshow also have an amazing and long-standing working relationship that I'm sure neither side would want to jeopardize. Don't let lust and desire cloud your judgement, this is business, and it's not good business for any party involved to release the same characters at the same time.

I'm not letting anything cloud my judgement. LFL would be crazy to deny HT from producing the three figures that will make the most money. Plus, SS have produced a Vader and Boba recently, both of which have sold out.

Maybe much later. But for now I think they kinda share the 1/6 licence with SSC. But who really knows :dunno

But I totaly see a Storm Boba Vader in 1/4 !!!!! :yess:

Yes, Sideshow and Hot Toys have a fantastic relationship, so good in fact that Howard would only refer to them as "another company" recently rather than say their name.
:lol

Actually from what I can gather they do have a pretty good relationship with each other.

I think HT are ruthless. As soon as it's stops being advantageous for them to be in bed with SS they will drop them like a hot potato.
What I believe HT and SS have going at the moment is "treat your enemy as your friend" type scenario, both companies are currently benefiting from an uneasy alliance. All HT have to do is get their own international distributors. I would like to bet Howad has his sights on world domination.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + New Interviews

both of which have sold out.

They didn't receive their full order of Vader initially, so they were unavailable for a little while - but they've been back in stock now since last month. Fett is supposed to be re-released later this year. So I don't doubt that Hot Toys would take a stab at the primary characters - I just doubt they would overlap or come back-to-back with Sideshow's versions. This doesn't apply to Stormtroopers, but does to Vader and R2/3PO which had been mentioned before. I'd fully expect the same type of release arrangement we've seen in the past with other licensees producing the same formats.
