Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + Interview (X-Wing

Hot Toys will get to the Johnny Depp character from "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" before they do even 1/5th of all the Star Wars figures some folks are expecting. :lol And then his character from Chocolat before the next third.

Soooo nothing new?
Nothing more from SDCC or that other con going on?
What a let down.
Glad Sideshow had a lot to show.

I tried to tell everyone nothing would be shown but I was only told I was wrong. :lol

Probably won't see anything until the new movie is released in December 2015.

Coming from the man who was pretty much the only one that couldn't figure out that HT was trying to get this license, sorry if I don't trust your cracked crystal ball. :lol

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

I bet some people at SideShow are incredibly unhappy about this.

What are they without Star Wars? I presume they will continue to produce figures on their own, but there is no way they can compete with either quality or price given what we have seen in the last few months.

There must have been major battles been fought behind the scenes, which is why we only got one figure (Luke Bespin). I wonder will SS stop stocking HT at some point in near future? Why support the competition?

Cause they are the only thing they are selling

You forgot his character in Benny & Joon.
A possible DX version perhaps.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Figures from Episode I-VII + Interview (X-Wing

Some people are gushing, blushing and flushing all over because they think Hot Toys is going to not only compete with Sideshow, but get them to stop making Star Wars figures - that's one extreme and insanely far from the truth. Then other people put Hot Toys down for not showing anything, the other extreme. They just announced the license, this is a brand new development, so it's going to take them time to start working on a figure before they have anything to show. The most solid rumor that's been posted to the forum, is that the first character may be Han from ANH.

So I know it's not popular around here, but patience is the only thing that's going to pay off. ;)

Theres no rush, lots of figures to hold me off till they start making these. If I can wait that long for BTTF Marty then I can sure as hell wait even longer for Star Wars

They already released a two pack Luke. They could have easily had a WIP or "backstage pass" preview of figures they are working on.

*If* they had worked on anything else. And even if they had, they may never release what was worked on - for whatever reasons, licensing or otherwise. I think the point is they don't have anything to show of what they will be releasing, otherwise they would definitely have shown it (with permission from LFL). They didn't choose to not show anything to somehow screw their fans. I think many collectors start to get a strong sense of entitlement when it comes to this stuff. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride - there's so much out there for everyone and most people don't have the money nor space to collect it all. Those that do, PM me, I'll send you my PayPal address - I'll pay the commission.

No Sideshow released a HT Luke two pack. HT didn't have a license to do that so it was done using SS license.

I am sure they have some WIP stuff as there was a plan to make more in conjunction with SS but once they got their own license they would have had to restart all the approval process. There was no way in hell SS was going to assist them once they went after their own license. I am not sure it's entitlement or ignorance of how the process really works.
