I am not sure they warrant a partial refund either though dude. These are hand painted statues. Plus the cracks look more like too much paint and not actual stress on the clay.

I personally think you and few others are going over board with this stuff. Other opinions are available of course. :)

Eamon, I have about 40 statues (just went and counted what's on display--I have even more in storage!) from various makers: Sideshow, ARH, Bowen, DC Direct, Playmates Toys, First 4 Figures, and Roku Toys. Not one of those statues has cracked paint. Sure, there are patches where the paint is applied sloppily or maybe unevenly, or maybe there's a little ding on a few of them, but none of them have cracked paint. My feeling is that I can live with the cracks, but I don't trust the paint to hold. My fear is that a month, or six months, or a year down the line the paint will just start flaking off, in which case I'll need to pay to have the statue repainted, and that won't be cheap.

It's not the hairline cracks he's worried about Eamon. It's fear of that happening to his entire statue over time. The Psylocke PF had these issues from SS when she came out. People had perfectly good statues go bad as the paint peeled off over time. That's defintely something to worry about

Each collector has their own levels of what they can and cannot accept. You can see my crack is in a prominent spot yet I am not looking to return it. I don't see how this matte paint would crack further sitting on the shelf. Psylocke if I am not mistake is a very shiney and glossy figure? so more prone to cracks or flacking.

Admittingly this is my first statue from POP Culture Shock and I have no idea how QC is with them generally but looking at He-Man, I do not see hwo this would deteroriate over time.

Psylocke only peeled on the painted skin portions which looked similar in color this. I'm sure it will be fine but past mistakes would make anyone think about what potential issues could arise

Well, I just sent an email asking them what they think of the photos. I'll be honest, I'm canceling Beastman and won't be ordering more of these statues, and that sadly includes Skeletor. It seems like these paint issues are characteristic of the piece as a whole as opposed to being isolated to a few pieces. It's too bad, too, because the sculpt is great.

@ Eamon

I am willing to live with the sloppy paint in some areas of the statue, after all, as you say it is a hand painted item.

Cracking paint has nothing to do with being hand painted, in my opinion. I believe that is a defect. As Mutant-Man said, I have never had this happen on any of my statues before, and it is concerning. Maybe I hold PCS to a higher paint app standard because I have Judge Dredd and Judge Death...the paint app on those are probably the two best in my collection. Literally not a single blemish on either. The paint app on this He-Man is a significant drop in quality for PCS when compare to those other two statues.

The big question is whether these cracks will continue to develop over time. I can live with the small cracks on mine as-is right now. But, will they get worse? Will cracks start to develop elsewhere on the piece? Further development of the cracks is my biggest concern.

I believe the issue is worthy of reporting to PCS, if for no other reason than to make PCS aware of it. They may do nothing about it, but I think they need to know this is happening.

I just touched on this in my post above...the paint on this He-Man is not up to par with other PCS pieces. Hopefully it is a one-off, and future pieces from PCS will be back up to their high standards.

I suddenly feel less guilty for suggesting you guys go to far with this. You are not even considering that they will learn from this one and apply some changes to Beastman and the others.
They might be characteristic of this piece but perhaps not the others.

Ruling out the others based on very small issues with this one is totally unreasonable on my opinion.

What clay? This is a polystone statue. Too much paint doesn't lead to cracks. It is airbrushed on. Too much paint would run not crack.

Sorry but that makes no sense. Matte vs Glossy paints are not more or less prone to cracking. In Psylockes case, it was a lack of primer. The paint had nothing to bond to. If this is what happened to He-Man, he will get worse for many over time.

Well in my experience of airbrushing stuff, too much paint does crack.
However it seems know more about statues than i do so I will not debate those points. But given you have a clear idea what the issue is, it's stands to reason that PCS will too and sort it out on the nest ones.

I believe they will correct whatever has gone wrong with this one.

I guess we can but hope. I am certainly not going to rule out the others until I know that this has not happened.

Maybe. But if He-Man is flawed and doesn't display well or if I send him back, then I have no reason to invest in other characters. The display would revolve around him, so if he's out of the equation, then so is everyone else.

Im sorry to hear about everyones He-Man statues over here. But it seem's to be an isolated incident and only a select few this is happening to. There doesnt seem to be too many complaints on StatueForum about it. This is my first statue and I guess I got lucky or something because mines pretty flawless. I hope you can get a He-Man replacement with zero flaws mutant-man, so you can continue on with the line, because it's gonna be one helluva line to complete once all is said and done.

a little messy on the paint job, i can accept that.....these are hand painted, i agree with that...but never seen crack or bubbling before on any statue i've had..if that doesn't warrant a return i don't know what does.

PCS replied. They apologized, said the statue had been checked, and that there are no more replacements. I can either send it back or keep it and take a $40 refund. I am verifying that they will refund the original shipping and allow me to cancel my Beastman EX without penalty. I'm done with PCS, I think. Just a pretty crummy overall first experience, and like I said earlier, collecting more of these statues without He-Man is pointless.

Sorry to hear that. Just fyi the regular version is still in stock at BBTS unless Orko is the dealbreaker and not He-Man.
