Re: Days of future past wolverine hot toys?

Less than a week away. Hoping we see something from HT. Wolverine or either Magneto would be awesome. Mystique would be cool, but would a blue or Lawrence version be preferred? Hrm...

I don't see why they couldn't do both. Make it the blue version with alternate normal head and hands and give her an outfit that coves up the blue body and you've got an easy 2 in 1. Otherwise she ought to be a very cheap figure because in theory she would just be a naked blue female TT (obviously not the case, but as an actual figure, it would be more or less true).

If they make a Colossus from the Movie, I'll be Happy and would be my 1st Hot Toys

Not a popular opinion but I love Colossus' look in this, he looks the most comic accurate thus far and his costume is dead on except for colour.

Seriously all I want is Fassneto in his awesome new outfit. Is that too much to ask for, HT?

Re: Days of future past wolverine hot toys?

Hopefully we see a figure sneak peek soon. I'll hold off making a custom Wolvie for a bit longer.

Re: Days of future past wolverine hot toys?

Movie open tomorrow , I am beginning to doubt any substantial (or any) figures from this film. CA2and ASM previewed before the films release.

Re: Days of future past wolverine hot toys?

Last stand wolverine came out years after(and was announced years after) the film..they just started Keaton batman 20 plus years later, and like 10 yrs after batman begins...so just because they have not announced anything before the film opens really means little. It could be an sdcc announcement, or toyfair, or any other con. Or they could just have so many figures in the works at the moment that picking up the license wouldn't make sense till they could actually use it. Hot toys uses only a couple artist so it could just be timing. I wouldn't read anything into it. They know their customer base pretty well, and know that they could lose a sale or two or thousand by making to many figures released all at once.

Edit-also look at Star Wars and planet of the apes..made decades after the films release...there are even more examples.

I am aware figures happen at anytime however, the likelihood of a deep run into the license lessens the longer the wait. HT releases figures from this line 6 mos or longer after the films release typically indicates 1-3 figures not a deep run. Granted the film could generate the standard three figs (POTA, SM3 etc) if released later but most folks want Xavier (x2), Mags (x2), Raven and Wolverine at bare minimum which is 6 deep. Unless this suddenly becomes a classic ala Terminator, Predator etc. then I doubt we see all the characters above released. I am beginning to believe should figs be released, we will see the new Xavier, Mags and Wolverine and they call it a day.

I'm sorry sir, but I find your point a bit invalid. Most of the lines you mentioned were released way before Hot Toys and Sideshow were established. HT started acquiring licenses in the early 2000's if I'm not mistaken, and of course they had to test the waters and may have had very limited capital when they started, thus taking them longer to acquire more licenses, particularly the older/classic lines. Focusing on Iron Man may have caused HT to pay attention to other franchises much later, but perhaps they noticed that it was giving them the money they need to acquire more licenses in the future?

It's also possible that acquiring older licenses can be trickier. Who knows, maybe having to deal with Jack Nicholson was part of the reason 1989 Batman took long to happen, Jack having a somewhat unique agreement with Warner Bros regarding licenses?

Also, HT's Batman Begins figure came out just 2 years after the movie, and again they were still new in the game then. People are anticipating the launch of figures from Xmen DOFP coinciding with the film's release because it's been the pattern HT and SSC's shown for like 2 years now. Patterns can be broken, but you can't help people from expecting since they had been conditioned to do so.

This says it all completely on point.

Re: Days of future past wolverine hot toys?

Having just seen the movie (which was amazing), I really hope we get 70's Wolverine, he just looked so cool.

Re: Days of future past wolverine hot toys?

As the point of WHAT and HOW MANY will be made with every non Marvel Studios film is discussed, there is absolutely no reason to think Hot Toys will even go 2 deep into DOFP. Unless they finally do a complete turn around with 7th film in the license, we'll be lucky to get a 4th Wolverine. I'm sorry, but 3 wolverines in 6 films can't possibly give anyone any false hope that anything will be different with DOFP. Not even Uncanny Spiderman.

For the Wolverine it was mentioned in an interview that they would produce figures for the movie. After the movie came out the previewed the figure. I am not sure why the are slow to announce figures for this franchise even though they do produce them.
What were told would happen around the release of this movie is that they would debut the professor x figure in the yellow and suit from first class. Will that happen I am not sure I dont understand why this franchise gets the least love.

Hot toys continues to get awards for its products from both marvel and WB/DC so I am not sure what the hold up is on the fox side. They better give squared away as Fantastic Four is set to come out next year and I would like to see the whole team produced

Yes there is this fact.....the hope being HT hard on for Marvel along with this being the first Xmen film made with the old cast since their infatuation will generate new love....the fact isn't lost a few Wolverines is all we have to show for the longest running marvel movie franchise....we can still hope.
um

Re: Days of future past wolverine hot toys?

If HT announces DOFP figures soon Wolverine would definitely be there. So far HT seems to think that Wolverine is the only X-man.

Seriously, could it be possible that HT secured a multiple-figure likeness license agreement with Hugh Jackman to make things easier for them?

You're a much more positive thinking person than I. And I'm pretty positive. I still think there is an issue with difficulties Hot Toys has dealing with non Marvel Studios films and licensing. It wouldn't shock me if we never see Rhino released.
