Ordered. Mine will be placed with Habba with the drink tray.

And it's about frigging time!

I looked at the size comparison chart and I'd say it does look a *tad* on the small side. I think I'll be okay with that though. I think the set is really great.

One other thing. They went as far as adding all those lighting effects--they couldn't go one more step and add sound too? I'm normally not into those gimick-y type things, but what the hell. R2's sounds are as iconic as he is. And they're doing sound for the Probe Droid, so the precedent is there. But not a deal breaker by any means.

The sideshow R2 should be accurate to the Tamashii 3po because they collaborated, and the scale for the 3po was painstakingly created.

6.75 is not accurate in relation to the Tamashii 3PO. Sideshow will have to make an 11" 3PO for that (the approximate height 3PO is listed at on wookiepedia). Just a thought, but these "1:1" heights may be handed down by LFL and out of Sideshow's control.

Who said this was made for the Tamashii 3PO? Sideshow would be crazy not to make their own.

I have to say I agree with you, Piper. What size would R2 have to be to match with the Tamashii Threepio?

Sound was looked into extensively for R2 but with everything else that was executed for him there ended being a room issue with the piece so no sound could be added in.

I'll probably use the sensorscope or maybe the terminal arm... but I'm sure after day one about half or more of the accessories will never leave the tray :lol

I dig the little arms. I think the circular saw is my favorite, but I don't think ill be using any of the arms for a permanent display.

Anyway, now that we know what the price is we could expect a barebones astromech to be $90-100. That is if Sideshow were so inclined to release any.

Its funner making the R2 sounds yourself anyway.

I second that. Sideshow R2 is a weathered figure. So its fitting a weathered 3PO should match this. I can almost see Sideshow will make a removable lower leg to match R2's accessories. And to be different from BanDai and Medicom.

It's probably for the best. It'd be bad if he ended up sounding like some strange guy doing beeps like the Hot Toys ED-209 voice.

R2 will have his restraining bolt included.

Thanks Alex :duff Any chance we could get a picture of R2 next to a figure?

No doubt... I find it less likely they could mess up the beeps and whirls of R2, but better safe than sorry and save $20 on the gimmick. Lights are a cool option though and from the video look great :rock

It's a little weird that it doesn't say Exclusive at all on my order details. I'm sure it's the exclusive version but just a little strange.

You mean on your email confirmation or in your account information?

If you go to 'Manage Your Account' and open up the order it should say 'Exclusive' in an orange box under the link to the R2 page. And the link itself should open up to the Exclusive version.

Yeah it is all tough to tell. While I think the SS R2 could stand to be a little taller, I do not think it will matter much comparatively. My Tamashii 3po is up on a stand so that half inch difference would be harder to spot.

I am hoping Sideshow will release their own 3po that is weathered up. This release doesn't make me want to chuck my Taito R2 out the window. I may display both sets as a clean and weathered option. I am just excited for the potential of astromech variants.
