The photo shopped pic Gomur put together is ten times better than the actual. What were they thinking with his left hand, seriously WTF? I guess you could put another PF really really close to him like he was pushing their face out of the way or something haha. Hopefully SSC reads the boards and see's how much better it would be and changes things up a bit. Thor is a huge powerful God, that pose makes him look dainty and with that girly outstretched left hand it's just a fail.

And original Thor PF was 325 upon release. And that was what? Like 6 or 7 years ago at least? So its gone up by 125 in almost a decade? That's not bad I guess. But I'll flex it or do what Josh and many others will do. Just sucks that we have to do that

Good point... but what if the es increase by a lot too? I always assume if the ES increase a lot, then the cost of making one should decrease, unless SS wanted high margain profit :dunno

I see the ES on this being about 750 to 1500. And yes a higher ES should decrease dollar amount, however SSC's fan base has also grown exponentially in the last 6 years. And compared to 6 years ago Thor is a much more universally known character Especially cause of the movies.

That PS of the new Thor works so much better with the sword in the left hand...kinda makes you wonder why it has to take us collectors to show the guys at sideshow how it should be done! :lol still, I'm sure their are enough talented guys out there who can custom a new left hand and actually make it happen...

Thor looks dumb holding a sword anyway wtf.

Just don't let Thor hear you say that. :)

I suspect Thor Frog would've earned so much praise as an EX, that our reactions would be night and day. But in scrambling for a new EX, I think Sideshow did well. The execution could've been better. I've already committed to the Justice League (prices pending), but if I had enough income and wanted to form an Avengers display, this guy would be my definitive Thor easily. The pose is very dynamic and the fabric - which I loathe on a statue - doesn't look cheap and is well applied. I don't doubt he will win over some fans in person. Could've been an A+, but it's a solid A or A-, I say.

Of course, scores are subject to change when production pieces roll out. So I give myself that caveat! ;)

I think it's clearly a case of which representation of Thor you are more familiar with and which you prefer. I've always grown up seeing Thor as the Sideshows original PF rather than the modern version...and it's still one of my most favourite pieces in my collection...

Which is just aswell really, cos even if I did want to pre order this new one I couldn't afford it anyway :lol with that said, I'm glad that those who weren't a fan of the original now get the opportunity of owning this new one at last :)

This statue looks all kinds of awkward to me, both arms look contorted, the wrists and angles of the hands... the way he's holding the hammer... oh dear

Six years is not "almost a decade." No need to exaggerate to justify where this price point is landing. That one also had a COH EX, not a sword that nobody will be using.

Talk about landing with a thud. I really thought the way he was crafted meant multiple changeouts...pretty disappointed in this.

I still really like it, but at $440, I definantly don't love it.

The news that Thor Frog was the original EX is upsetting to many. I think it is a plus for buyers who want Thor Frog in their collection, but don't have to spend over $400 to make it happen. A spinning hammer switch-out would've been great. Personally, I don't mind the Odinsword, but it would've looked more impressive (I feel) in the lead hand. EX aside, I do feel it's still an impressive statue. The only reason I won't be getting it is the rising costs and my hum drum income. Pardon the photochop. :lol

This looks fantastic!!! I would definitely purchase this in a heartbeat if this is how they would have went with the sculpt! Gomur, maybe Sideshow should hire you...it looks like they need someone like you around...haha

Looks like I was banned at SF for thinking Igo sarcasm vis-a-vis customers was a little much. Someone expressed their opinion that the price is too high and Igo gave, what I consider to be, a disrespectful reply. If production costs are rising exponentially for them, there would have been a nicer way to put it.

Excellent point man. I love the old PF and the costume but I'm never going to be able to get that under 1K so it sucks for me. I like the newer costume too and I've always wanted a Thor so I'll pick this up WITH the frog lol and add a code to it to make it $499 flat out lol. As much as I also feel the execution of the sword could've been done better or at the VERY LEAST they could've given us a swap out left hand because it looks weird with the sword.

If you round up it is. Im still saying its the better partnofna decade. But a price increase of a $100 and a bit isn't bad considering the rate of inflation for everything else. And its true that cost Chinese manufacturing has gone up drastically in only the last couple of years man. However I too am not happy with the price at 440. I also feel like we got shortchanged on the EX and

I like it a lot. Could've loved it too. Wanted to but its still pretty cool. Probably won't display with the Ex.

Igo isn necessarily the guy who made the call about the Ex, he did pass on the info though, and I will say I respect the guy for being honest.

The guys over there protect a certain relationship they have with SSC, and I mean all of SSC including guys like Canalr, Andy B, Black, and a **** load more who post on the SF boards. From what I have heard from ink over the years this board lost a lot of people like that because ****** bags kept hounding them and harassing them here, and no one brought the hammer down. Now I read Snads comments, and I don't think they warranted a banning, so I am not defending them in this case. Just giving you the other side of the coin so to speak.

I understand if someone is harassing an SSC rep, there should be consequences. Igo was firm in the past that people shouldn't say "it sucks" but to give constructive criticism. That is fair. Communication is a two way street though. If someone says they don't like the price, then a sarcastic reply is unwaranted for the same reasons. An explanation as to why the price need to be elevated would be more professional. Frankly it leaves a sour taste in my mouth over SSC. While it is nice to have a rep on the boards, I would expect them to have a modicum of respect and tolerance for the people that put food on their table.

As for my 1 week banning, It's what I assume it to be. The only other possibility was on the PCS board. I made another poster there realize that "Poison" the capcom character is not a female but rather a transgender character. I supported it with facts. Then we all had a good laugh over how awkward a scenario that makes. Someone then came in with a very homophobic and tasteless post and got the thread banned. I got a warning from a mod but all I did was bring up the truth and had a laugh. I sent a PM to the mod that gave me a warning to respectfully defend my position.

So either my post to Igo or my private message was not liked. The later was not even argumentative or disrespectful to the mod. It would be nice if the "Reason for banning" was a bit more fleshed out.

I think this is the money shot right here and the ideal angle to view him from or display him. The hand doesn't look weird, he's looking straight on, and you can even see the inscription on the hammer. I think if this was the only pic SSC ever previewed people would be crapping themselves to secure a preorder. Much cooler than the chubby "looking at the sky" original.

I feel you bro and that's why I'm happy that those of you guys who missed out on the original Thor PF will now get another chance to own him albeit in the modern armour...in a way, I guess this is the reason why Sideshow have increased their price on this Thor inparticular. Like I forsee with the new Doom PF, these characters are in demand after the success of its predecessors if you like...and the prices they fetch on the secondary market...what do you think?

Straight up ****.

I like it a lot. Could've loved it too. Wanted to but its still pretty cool. Probably won't display with the Ex.

It's really not though, SS is raising costs WAY faster than the rate of inflation, and giving hollow casts to boot (especially when compared to the originals). I just don't think they are really that comparable, not trying to have a go at you or anything. :monkey3

Plus I was expecting a high price, but thought there would be a bunch of cool switchouts ala Captain America that would have justified it. That sword....doesn't justify anything, especially when the Frog was going to be the EX and Igo has a bit of a chuckle and says you figure it out...Man that's not the kind of answer you want to see from a company rep. I read the replies over there and thought it was a slap in the face to those who buy their products, and that nothing that was said deserved a banning...

I am with you though, a newer collector that wants a Thor and really, how many options do we have to check that box? But I will say this, over lunch I was going over a list of characters I am still willing to buy at these price points, and it was alot smaller than you would think. They may get their pound of flesh, but they are not going to be retaining customers long term with these kind of spikes.

Classic Thor isn't chubby. He is jacked. It is insanely detailed too. Eventhe cape has little ridges all over that you cannot make out in pictures. You need to see it in person to really appreciate how amazing it is.
