What!? I'm just trying to catch up on this thread -- are people dissatisfied now with the new deluxe Vader's mask?

Well, I can't speak for anyone else but I don't dislike it. I just like the ANH mask more.

I just scored a ANH Vader suit from a friend of mine, after looking at some of the modded pics with the older suit I think it looks much better.

You're lucky! Congrats. I wish I had another.

Here's a couple more pics. I didn't push the dome so low down over the eyes this time so it looks more "ESB-ish" in these pics. Although it's still going to look most like the ANH mask because it IS the ANH mask. LOL

I've seen this question asked before but don't recall seeing anyone answer it.

When the armor / cape etc are swapped over onto the TTM20 (or similar muscular body), what's everyone doing with the cape and robe length? Presumably, both cape and robe will be too long if they're swapped over onto a shorter body? I don't want to get a TTM20 if it means the cape etc need to be cut.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

How much does the severed hand and cuff go for? You could always buy the regular version and the exclusive parts separately.

Loving the creative mixing/modding of Vaders going on in here! Here is my Hurricane/SSC v2 hodge podge Vader. I have a cathode saber on the way as well, can't wait for that!

The more I look at some images, the more I have a serious hate-on for the toy-looking helmet/mask combos. It doesn't appear in every image, but when the thickness of the helmet screams out like a sore thumb, it's just too distracting and ruins the entire figure, IMO. That's why I think it's silly to use the low-end Hasbro helmet on a high-end collectible. I really dislike that little helmet/shoulder example that was recently posted and quoted as well. Without a size reference, it honestly looks like it could have been cut off from a 3 3/4 figure. :rotfl

Has anyone tried any extreme mods to the new Sideshow helmet? I mean something more than spreading the bottom rim apart a little or tilting it back.

I would really like to see how the Medicom helmet works with a sideshow body. As you are thinking about how to customize it, I recommend you check out McHaleyArt's custom Medicom Vader. It is by far the best Medicom custom I have seen. I assume you are using a standard pro body as the Vader ones would be so large that Vader would look like a pinhead. I always kind of figured that when my Medicom Vader breaks (as it will inevitably) I will have to use a Hot Toys slim body to replace it. I would love to see other alternatives.

Agreed, the McHaley Vader is really a stunning piece. I've actually bashed most of it together already. I couldn't wait! I actually ended up using An old Kumik body I had. I ended up drilling some holes in the legs to fit the medicom feet with extenders on it. I'm not sure how I feel about the scale so far. I'll post some pics in a bit!

Gadzooks! HIS SABER IS IN HIS LEFT HAND! Very nice picture. The purplish background looks an awful lot like a Star Destroyer's interior.

He called it a fitting. Eventually, he'll paint and buff it. He's already said this.

McHaley knows a thing or two about bashing and modifying.

Be our guest. Then you won't simply be a critic anymore.

Then you won't simply be a critic anymore.

I've already done more mods to the Sideshow Vader than most of the people posting in the thread, so I'm not sure what you're getting at. In addition to modding the body, neck plug, neck armor, shoulder armor, mask and helmet, I've also eliminated the need for batteries in the belt and both stands. My next mod, while I wait for my replacement head, is to restitch the stock suit. Getting the sewing machine ready tomorrow, by which time I hope a recent illness is over enough that my hands don't feel like they're being cut by 1000 blades every minute of the day. Then it's CCFL saber in a way that hasn't yet been done.

I know a lot of people do amazing mod work, I follow enough threads here to see it every day, I'm not making any judgement on that, but the source parts. As a general rule with most things, garbage in, garbage out. Nothing is going to save the appearance of a too thick helmet. Except using one that's not, uh, too thick. These other helmets, including toy helmets, don't look as good as the part Sideshow supplies in the box.

And yeah, saber in the left hand? Just put it on his belt already. Vader also never carries around an unlit saber in his hand, why would he? :cuckoo:

Oh, and if you feel like I get in your face because I speak my mind, then just scootch over a bit out of the way. I do bite sometimes.

Hi eveyone,

So I'm new to the board, not to the hobby. Not much of a basher considering I'm not very artistic so be gentle :) . But considering my medicom Vader broke recently, I decided to try and bash a Vader together considering I already have 6 pre-orders coming my way this year and amongst other things, my mortgage tends to get in the way of collecting as well hahahaha. So all that to say there is no way I can afford the new Vader.

Here's what I used so far to put this bad boy together:

Medicom head and dome
Medicom hands
Medicom feet
Medicom modded armor
Medicom shoes
Sideshow body suit
Sideshow Leg armor
Sideshow chest box and belt
Modified Kumik body
Custom cape (being shipped to me as we speak)

So here's my bashed medicom/sideshow Vader. Keep in mind it's still a work in progress. I plan on beefing up the thighs a little as well. Probably adding some kind of cool looking stand. Might consider stitching up the body suit a tad as well. It measures at just under 13"3/4. I'm still not sure about the head sculpt. thinking of maybe getting a kaiyodo head instead. But like I said, I'm not sure if the scale works or not.......And yes, that is a chocolate Stanley Cup in the photos. After all I am Canadian! Any thoughts or suggestions?Be gentle lol!
