I spent some time today futzing with my Vader. I wanted to address the skinny arm issue, more cross arm articulation, and put a tilt on the helmet. So this is what I came up with. First I decided to trim a bit of the chest for more 'cross arm' articulation, I wanted to get a good 'pointing saber' pose. Then I changed out the suit to a custom made one that I originally done for a DC direct Vader custom. I figure by going with a bigger suit it would hide the skinny arms a bit more. Next I popped off the helm and replaced it with the Hasbro one, to me it looks a bit better because its a tad larger than the SS stock one. Over all I'm pretty happy with the result.

Custom suit? Now we're taking this to new levels. Nice.

Can you shed a bit more light on the first mod you made, the one that's marked in tape? Do you have any pictures of the result after cutting and not hidden by tape?

Size comparison of my old Vader on the stock body and new Vader on the TTM20. Both I have modified the helmets to be lower.

Sure, here it is. By cutting out a little of the chest you gain a bit more of arm articulation. With the suit on you don't get quite this much range but its enough for what I need.

Katkuru - your custom bodysuit is excellent dude!! :clap :rock

..& with the little bit of arm padding you've done - it REALLY transforms the figure.

I don't know about the Hasbro helmet dome though, it looks awkwardly 'bulbous' on top, & a bit short at the bottom. :lol

..unless you can push it down a tad more?

I did not like this figure so I returned it but I messed around with it before, I tired him on an Arnold body and a bane body I have to say the bane body is way better almost the perfect physique and fills out the suit in the right way.

One would still have to extend the ankles and shorten the neck like the arnold, also maybe cut the sleeves of the suit down at the wrist

But he is more barrel chested and had less huge moobs so the chest box fits on great.

Bummer you didn't take pics.

Hi guys. Can the ANH Vader head fit on the neck joint of the ROTJ body? Thanks. :)

Not without modification. The ball joint is too big so you'll probably have to sand it down to fit. Plus, the ANH head has a shorter neck so that may or may not affect it.

Looks good. Could I bother you for some more pics of the TTM Vader, please? I'd like to see him with his cape pulled back so I can get a good look of how his gloves look in proportion to his arms. Also, maybe get one with his robe pulled back so I can take a look at his boots, for the same reason as the arms. This would be really helpful. :)

Good idea, katkuru. Can he cross his arms across his chest? That would be awesome!

I put the ANH suit on him last night.

This should give you a good idea why his arms look so skinny while this was never a complaint with the ANH version, even though arms are almost the same in diameter.

The new vader body is nearly the same size as my modified ANH body.

Here's the new Vader body with just the ANH suit on.[/B]

And here's VADER!

Even the gloves look better with this suit.

Great mods Fiend, the pose with him holding his belt is fantastic.

I havent had time to mod my Vader yet. These pictures will help. Thanks! :)

Yep, the ANH suit looks MUCH more accurate with all the little "bunched up wrinkles" along the stitch lines. I don't know what Pixelpiper was looking at when he said he "couldn't see any difference" when another member posted pics earlier with the ANH suit swap. The ROTJ suit that Sideshow did just looks off because in the movies, Vader's suit was never so brand new looking - the SS ROTJ suit looks like it's just been pressed! I will be putting the ANH suit on mine as soon as it arrives.

Yeah, they're much better. The overall suit is better. Why Sideshow decided to fo with something different is beyond me, at least find something comparable.

Neither do I - you must have misread what I posted, because I've always been a fan of the look of the old suit.

I just checked on ebay for the Hasbro Vader undersuit... and it might work, with some serious stitching to slim the arms. But clearly the SS ANH is the ideal.

Also, I switched my ANH body several times and I did see some "vinyl" flaking on my ANH suit. That may be the reason SS switched to the new material. I do not think the ANH suit will last years and years if you are constantly playing with it.

Weird. You wrote it was a fools errand to bother with changing the suits over because you "couldn't see any difference". I responded by saying that I didn't think I was a fool and I'd be changing the suits over as soon as my ROTJ Vader arrived because to my eyes, the ANH version is a much more accurate looking suit (as can be seen in The Fiend's comparison pic).

I may try and add a bit more "shine" to the ANH suit by using some car dashboard "gloss" wipes.

I've got the Hasbro electronic Vader here (I got hold of a new one so I could use the Hasbro dome if required on the ROTJ version) and the suit actually has a "silky" appearance. It looks good in pics but in person, I wouldn't use it because of the silky effect.

Thanks for all the compliments , guys. :) I love the bunched up "lived in" looks of the first suit.

A few weeks ago prior to buying the new Vader I looked up the Hasbro suit and was wondering the same thing. It looks comparable, but I didn't know if it would be big enough. I don't know which release it was either, it was loose on ebay. I also don't know if there is any real difference between the Hasbro suits either.
