Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

My Batman PF EX version (#0373/2000) arrived this week. After seeing all the pics posted on here, I was pretty pumped to finally get this in hand. Batman is a beast!!! I can't believe how heavy he is and how big he is (maybe too big). But that is ok with me because I like my heroes larger than life. Pit-gate is pretty laughable. All you have to do is futz with the suit and pull it back from behind. Really dig this piece. Now the wait for Superman begins.

Here are some pics...

Full length shot (long ears)

Close up (Batman don't smile for the camera)

The base (heavy! probably close to 25 lbs)

Scanning Gotham from the rooftops

More scanning (with short ear head sculpt)

Pissed off and looking for trouble

Stop taking my picture!

Full body shot (short ears)

Ready to throw the Batarang

With GL (Yes, Batman is probably slightly bigger than 1/4 scale and GL might be slightly smaller than 1/4 scale, but I think they look pretty good here)

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Sideshow has stated many times over that they do not resell returns. If your waitlist item converts you get a brand new unopened statue like the rest of us.

When I got my Batman in the mail, the tape was already peeled off the box. So not really sure about that "unopened" part. No problems with the actual statue though.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

GREAT pics Mister Ski !!!!! I'm particularly fond of the last one. He looks great with Ivy and Joker.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

It seems like your replacement head was painted a bit better and without a pronounced 5 o'clock shadow. It's gruff but not too gruff. I hope my replacement heads are similar. I receive them Tuesday... Then I get to break the Bat!

You're right - it's like they've put the head on some surface or something (look at the tip of the nose and the very bottom front) - the new head is perfect. About the the paintjob. In hand they look pretty similar, but in the daylight it is a bit lighter. The paintjob never was an issue to me though. Out of all the issues mentioned the last few weeks only the armpits has bothered me. thankfully.

I don't even have a favorite head - I love both!

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

your arm pits doesn't bordered me anymore, since I fixed mine, giggles.

Lol. Dude you have ***** of steel. I'm already scared and my wife is against it as she loves him the way he is. Maybe I'm lucky, mine wasn't as bad as some. Still, ever since that video I can't stop ocd'ing about it

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Well I finally had some time today while my daughter was at my parents to free Batman from his prison & I'm pleased to report he is pretty much spotless to my eyes...little paint fade on part of the cape but not enough to bother me.
He obviously suffers from "saggy pit Syndrome"™ but having seen it in hand I honestly don't think it's as bad as some people seem to make out, sure it's noticeable but it doesn't honestly detract form the rest of the statue & I'm more than happy with him.

So without further ado here's my pics just to go with everyone else's ;) lol

Only question I do have is did anyone else find fixing the utility belt particularly annoying??
It's like it barely fits & I was a bit bothered about breaking it by stretching it too much.

Other than that he is by far & away the best statue I have ever seen.

They have some extensive conversations about it over at SF.... Honestly, I wouldn't go NEAR that, but the guys over there say it isn't hard. Read the entire thread though because there are some great comments there.

some people like to believe in conspiracy theories

Well they do sell returns... As I stated before I returned my Obi Wan mythos and posted the edition number... Someone's waitlist converted and they got the same edition number as the one I returned and got the same googly eyed head that I returned.

Like I said in my other post I don't see them reselling damaged items but a bit of sloppy paint might be fair game for a resell. Otherwise it makes no sense not to sell a return that is undamaged.

Personally I don't have an issue with them reselling the Obi Wan because it was the young Obi head that had the issues but the old Obi head looked great. So if a buyer who got it only liked the older Obi wan head and never planned on displaying it with the younger head would probably have no issue..

Either way it is proof that SSC will resell returned items... I also think mine was a return since it looked like it had been opened before.

I mean do people really think that SSC just sends their returned items off to the island of misfit toys?? That just does not make any business sense.

I am going to attempt the whole replacement thing, but I am 100% certain I know what the answer will be. Looks like this particular one is most likely going back to Sideshow for, what appears to be, at least a third time. We'll see what they say.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Of course having said that I don't know if the guy was telling the truth or not... But I do know that my Obi Wan box had been opened before.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Can't see the conversation JAWS... What was the post number???

So have you decided to sell this me JAWS or are you keeping it??

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Well, they can't retire a number because it is limited... So I imagine they would have to reissue a same edition number. Now whether or not that's the exact same unit ... :dunno

Exactly. It's not like the number would disappear because of any damage/return. I have also seen SSC sell distressed merch before as well. I remember years ago a Spidey Com that was damaged offered up for sale at a discount. If I remember correctly, it had a red and white label that ran across the bottom of the base that said something to the extent of damaged or distressed. It was clearly marked as a damaged piece even though it had an number. All I know is I went on the WL once for the EX GL PF and converted. I couldn't possibly ask for a better piece than the one I received. It was super mint and clean. After that experience, I have zero problems jumping on a WL for something I missed out on.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

My wait list isn't going to convert I don't think. 27th may have been too late. I'm keeping an extra $500 in my account just in case

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Well since I'm on the wait list for a new body cause of the broken left arm and in this case being on the wait list meant a guaranteed replacement I decided to revisit the unboxing process because my wife was bugging me to get rid of the house of a box this guy comes in. As I was taking out the last pieces I prob was never going to use (short ear head and non exclusive fist) I noticed those were both busted as well,,,completely broken left ear and chipped right ear and a few scrapes on the back bottom of head sculpt, and 2 broken blades on the non exclusive fist.

I wasn't going to bother telling sideshow, but I figured for 500 bucks all the pieces should come mint, hope they don't give me a hard time in replacing those as well.

I'm starting to think this thing was kicked all the way to my house!

I find it hard to believe that Sideshow would deliberately lie, not once but at least twice that I have seen them answer the question do they resell returned items. It is probably more likely that Obi was mistaken about his number or they reissued the number on a replacement, which would explain why that particular box would have been opened.
