For me, if I get this figure, it will only be for customisation. Here's what I'll do if I decide to get one (or hopefully I can get some parts from whoever decides to split the figure up into parts if sellers treat this like they do the Hot Toys releases).

KP02 body. (Much more accurately sized / proportioned for Vader).
Sideshow ANH Vader body suit. (FAR superior to the new one and we already know that it works perfectly with the KP02 body).
Sideshow ANH Vader codpiece.
Sideshow ANH Vader mask with Hasbro dome replacement.
Sideshow ANH chest box.
Sideshow ESB / ROTJ belt boxes and buckle.
Sideshow ESB / ROTJ inner robe and cape.
Sideshow ESB / ROTJ shin guards and boots.
Sideshow ESB / ROTJ chest armor (with some black dry brushed streaks over the silver parts to make it match the more weathered appearance of the original ANH armor).

Since my preference is for ANH Vader, I will use the ESB parts on my ANH Vader so it will have the inner robe worn OVER the chest armor rather than under it.

I think the height of the body on this new version is an awful disappointment as it's quite clearly way too big when compared to other normal sized figures. Yes, Vader was big but he wasn't as huge as Sideshow have made him here. :slap

The pants riding up May be a problem he had but it wasn't an issue for me...

Theres easy ways to fix this. You can use a thin pair of tweezers or feeder/medical tongs to hold the pant legs down as you slip the boot shaft up the calf. Wrap the tweezers in painters tape if you are OCD and fear scratching the pants!

Or... tie a string around the pant leg bottom, gently pull down as you slide the boot shaft up. Then carefully untie or cut the string and attach foot. :peace

Can't believe people are hating on Malgus! I think he looks pretty cool :) Good design and well executed by Sideshow. Admittedly, I'm still waiting to see a decent futzed pose from someone but I'm happy to pull the trigger on it even though he's the odd man out in my SW display. As a standalone though, he's epic :D
Still in 2 minds about Vader. Defo need to hold fire until you folk start posting in hand pics...

I agree Malgus looks very good (going from Optibotimus' review) except in the RS photo with blue background. I don't care how good the figure is, that background makes it look cheap.

Guys take a look at any shot of vader next to a Stormtrooper; he's tall for sure, but not a giant.
I get it and I'm a bit worried myself, just gauging from pics (pictures next to other figs suggest he's maybe taller than 13.75", admittedly). Overall, though, I'm pretty happy with the figure, especially as displayed in the SSC promo video (think it looks fantastic there). If it's a bit out of scale, I'll wait until some of the talented people here find a fix and then follow suit. Honestly at this point, I'd rather get him (being more or less satisfied, even unmodded), hopefully mod it and be happy with it for 3 or 4 years, until a better version comes out. At that point I can sell it for a $100.00 or $150.00 'loss' but having had those 3 or 4 years of enjoyment. Time's short, really, and I'm moving away from my previous stance that everything has to be 100% perfect before I'll buy.

Malgus will look great in the right lighting, I get him down the track to go with my star killer and revan customs. He does look a bit action man in full light though, vader looks incredible even in that lighting

I have mine on order, and I'm excited for it, but it looks like this figure is grossly oversized, just as the ANH Vader was. I think it'll look great displayed alone, though. I am mildly disappointed, though.

Glad to see you posting here, again, rubio. Seems like it's been a while. Yeah, kinda thinking he might be a touch taller than 14" when looked at from those pics, but again, I can live with it. That side profile shot of ROTJ Vader looks amazing, IMO. I'm not planning on displaying it in a diorama type environment (or vs Luke, etc.) so I don't think the height will be an issue, honestly.

Thanks for noticing, Sol. Yeah, I've been going full-bore on my 1:1 Boba Fett, so I've stepped back from 1:6 somewhat. I have Vader and Prototype Fett on preorder, and I'm quite excited for both.

This Vader looks great, but the sheer size (to me, at least) is somewhat of a negative. I know Vader is a big guy, but he shouldn't make other figures looks like dwarves (like he does with the stormtroopers above). Screen accuracy is huge for me, and although it looks like SideShow has gotten the vast majority of the details correct, I'm saddened by the size. But I'm hoping it's different in-hand. We'll find out soon!

Wow! That pic tells me how SSC has improved quality wise and how my aesthetic standards have risen since those Stormies came out. :lol

I always thought the SSC Stormies were perfect. Now they look like Hasbro figures to me.
And as for Vader, I'm not satisfied with it despite looking better than them.

Re the stormtroopers, I'm baffled that marmit stormtroopers were still better sculpted by a foreign company--
when ss is the company in the ent capital of the world, comprised of world class artists, with access to all manner of props and references due to its relationships in the business...and access to lucasfilm directly...

They better have a stormtrooper 2.0 in the works and it should surpass marmit's...there's no excuse...
That sculptor of marmit proto vader, bandai's metal threepio, and likely marmit stormtrooper has singlehandedly raised the bar for ss since back in 97...er whenever he sculpted for marmit...

I agree in this disappointment. Can't solve the height issue, really?

People blindly look past this on Vader for some reason, but if it were Han or Luke or someone else it would be a huge issue. Being an inch overscale at this scale is huge. It's almost as bad as the under-scaled Medi-size, although bigger is usually better.

Everyone here better learn how to do the torso mod from 4 years ago.
