DX13 is absolute king. DX13 seems to retain and possibly improve on the likeness of the DX10 while at the same time has the advantage of battle damage to give that robotic stare some added character. The figure just tells you more about what the movie is about than the first two (first BD doesn't count here lol) imo. We'll see how much gets lost in translation with the production units.

Thats the thing - DX13 won't look that good when it comes out. The PERS will look more like what we've come to expect from the production figures.

The thing about DX10 is its not the same sculpt at all as the prototype and even on the prototype the PERS looked crap. Perhaps if we had seen a prototype of the actual sculpt we ended up with and then seen the usual disimprovement on the production run I'd be more critical of it myself. But as it stands it actually improved on the prototype we were shown.

DX13 looks great at prototype stage and will probably not look as good when it comes out.

Ok - I'll start by posting ON TOPIC. :lol

I thought - while a nicely done figure, Hawkeye was meh.

Definitely the SSC Bith guys though! :lecture :lol

..& regarding the DX-10, man the last few pics in here have just confused me more with what I really think about it. Some earlier shots in the corresponding threads, do highlight the positives with the likeness. Others - like the last few in here, don't do it any real favours if I'm going to be honest with y'all. :monkey3

I still see DX-10 & think Benicio Del Damon-negger. :huh

Of the ones I've bought Ironman Mrk I 2.0 - didn't get a wow factor when opening it and I dont think it looks that great on the shelf either

EDIT: Actually another nomination would be the Rescue Captain America

The majority in this thread perhaps. And most who actually own the figure seem to love it.

What do you guys think of the DX13 sculpts?

I think it looks awesome! I won't buy it because I generally never get battle damaged figures ( they are much too representative of a scene and not of the whole movie), but I think it is much better than DX10. That said, I think it's perfectly normal that some see the pinnacle in a figure while others don't, it's part of the hobby. Besides, we all know how different a in-hand figure can be in comparison to pics, so this fig is probably way better in hand.

I never thought I'd derail that thread when I listed it as my meh figure of the year! :lol

I bet the final product will look better then the proto in properly lit pics and even better in hand.

The PERS won't. I mean it hardly even looks like PERS in the prototype pics. But we're now 12 figures into DX (except DX11 which hasn't come out yet) and PERS still has basically the same negative aspects that its always had on final product figures. I don't see DX13 being different. On close inspection the irises will look cartoony, the eyelids will be thick and maybe create a guyliner effect. And this coming from someone who doesn't hate it and actually does take advantage of it.

I don't know, PERS looks the best on DX08 and 09, Jack Sparrow DX most definitely and DX04 Bruce Lee looks great.

DX13 has more of a squint so, the PERS will look much better in the worst pics/lighting conditions taken unlike whats going on with DX10.

PERS is really hit-or-miss. . .which is why I wish HT would not use it. Better to avoid misses than take a 50/50 (at best!) gamble that it will be a 'hit.' But the prototypes pretty much tell you when it is gonna work and when it isn't. And personally, I think it works with DX-13. . .not so much with DX-10, though I think that sculpt does have some positives.

Yeah but those figures all have makeup around their eyes or are asian. They are immune to the guyliner effect by default, the makeup guys at least.

The squint, well yeah I hope that makes it to the production figure. It might help. I do kinda wish DX10 had been more squinty.

And damn, seriously, we ought to take this to the DX10 or 13 threads.

This is an interesting thread. And im actually racking my brain to give an answer. Because, as i look at my figure display i have 11 HT figures. newest of Which was released June 2011. Theres nothing this year thats came out so far i want. I kinda want DX10 but im waiting on a good deal for that.

Theres been way too many super hero figures released this year. Pretty sucky year to be into HT if you are not a batman or Avengers fan. This year has been so meh for me i cant even pull a name out of the hat.

DX12 has got makeup and the eyes look much bigger,i think it all has to do with how well the sculptor can marry the sculpt they did with the eyeball system+ manufacturing and how they execute this, Arnie Kim so far has the worst luck with his work and the PERS.

The Shadow 2 was a great dissapointment for me, the new body is pretty bad in the chest area and has stopped me buying any more female figures until it's changed

I bought something like ten 3A figures and that was the only disappointing one, they fricken :rock

When were the Bruce Lee casual figures released? Those have got to be the most boring figures I feel like. They immediately plummeted in price and just aren't at all interesting. I never cared to pick one up even now that they are so cheap in price.

Also every 3A figure ever.

I don't have one in my collection because I don't buy recently released "blockbuster" movie figures. My figures have to marinate in "pop culture" before I feel it is iconic enough to make the purchase!!

Anything Marvel Avengers

Agreed. I am happy I don't collect Marvel stuff. So many variations of a character with constant upgrades (ie. Thor, Avengers Thor, Thor 2 and future AV2. Figures are outdated quick. CA2 also down the road. My meh figure choice for 2013 is Catwomen. I saw it at a Collectables store looked so plain and boring!
