Your best bet is to bleach the fatigues. Use a diluted solution of bleach and water. This will "fade" the color of the fabric to a light green (making it easier to dye later).

Make sure, after you lighten the fabric, to completely rinse/wash out the bleach solution out of the fabric (use a mild hand/dish soap and water).

When it comes time to dye, you might not need to use all that much (maybe slightly less of the brown than the green, but not by much).

I never approximate the dye amounts, I sort of eyeball it. But then again, I've been dying fabrics for years at this point.

Are you in the US? I'd be available to dye yours if you'd like (at the cost of shipping). I'll upload some pics tonight of mine. Let me know. Thanks

Thanks for the offer but I think I'm close to my goal. I tried now only with the dark green to see what comes out. i had put so little brown that I guess the initial brown was coming out too much. waiting for it to dry now. won't be perfect but still better than the original. in the movie it sometimes look light green, so it's hard to find the correct reference. also the yellowish lights if my detolf make the fatigue look even more brown so it's even harder to find the right balance

All right here's my result below with the previous as a comparison. A wee little bit too dark, but I like it. I just hope it looks as good in my detolf as opposed to natural light (probably not!!)

Thanks. I actually already found this ealier (the correct size for this era, I think, is this:

https://onesixthscaleking.com/shop/product_info.php/scale-mr1bor0-complimentary-sized-cigarette-pack-p-913

What I was looking for is somewhat a picture I could print at home and fold to make the pack. I'll try to do one myself, and worse case I'll order from these guys.

This is what I meant:

Now I just need to print this with a precise color printer!

It's not really accurate, but at that size, who's gonna care.

:clap
That does look good, hope it prints out ok for you. Also, good find on the proper scale cig pack, since it's meant to go in the helmet.

I will post a picture once I finished putting it all together, which in theory I can't right now: I told myself i wouldn't buy anything for two months, then I found this guy at $150 and couldn't let it pass. My goal was just to dye him and put it back in the closet for 2 months.

We'll see if I can hold my promise!

Great price. I got him at a good price too. The Head sculpt is awesome.

Here's what my cigarette printout looks like. It somewhat looks big, but it's the size of the cigarette that comes with the figure

Also I found that my helmet fits, and looks, better without the metal insert bit. Might want to try it. it comes down to his ear with it removed like the pic above.

Some other (crappy) photos (before he goes back to the closet!)

Like most people mentionned before in this thread, this figure always comes out browner in photos, especially if not under natural light

I've lowered his sleeves to hide the joints. The watch hides also one of the wrist.

Not a good pic I know but just wanted to show another smoke shot, use the stuffing that comes in the backpack, can look pretty cool if you're going for the smoke in the hand look.

This will explain it..

THe problem when you remove the inside of the helmet is that the fabric of the helmet isn't held anymore. The helmet itself is not shaped properly. It's like oval and that's why it look weird.
