I do....? Because I recall saying as follows: "Wasting time on stuff they are never going to follow through with is just.... a waste of time. Ask the following franchises: X-Men 1st Class, Prometheus, and of course Mandarin from IM3. If we ever actually see one figure from those movies released, I will eat my hat."
So, anything HT-wise from XM:FC, Prometheus and/or the Mandarin character made an appearance at SDCC? I stand corrected. Cool beans.

Not really. What you just said is that the only reason people care about The Joker is because Heath Ledger. Joker and Zod were there before either actor, and they have endured despite neither continuing the role. I get you prefer Stamp to Shannon. I don't personally. But hey to each his own. But Zod didn't need Stamp in the same way Superman did not need Reeve.

Nope you are not. Stamp was ok, but there was something very mustache-twirling and Mwa-hahahahaha! about Stamp's Zod; I want to say he was trying too hard.
As far as visual impact there is no comparison. You got one Zod smirking in the Oval Office, and the second one is throwing pick-up trucks right through Ma Kent's abode. I know which one I find most fun to watch; that is just me.

I'd say Stamp Zod is more comparable to the Nicholson Joker, not Ledger. Not that either character portrayal is bad, just less modern.

You're not. I love the original Superman movies, but other Superman himself, I can't imagine owning another figure from those movies.

You're not getting it. Zod wasn't any where CLOSE to the Joker's status in the comics before SUPERMAN I/II. Any comic reader can tell you that. He was a minor, D-list villain at best. In most of the early Phantom Zone stories, he was just a background villain.
The reason we're still talking about him today, the reason he's been revived in the comics, and the reason he was chosen for the new movie, is because of the impact he made in SUPERMAN II. Hell, all the recent comic incarnations are physically based on Stamp and expanded his backstory.

I'm thinking two head sculpts. One sans helmet, one with the helmet on with switch out visors (one transparent, one opaque) similar to the HT Kane figure from ALIEN.
Though, I'm not sure if you'll need a completely separate head sculpt just for the helmet, I think his hair is short enough to where you'll just be able to slide it over.
