Never mind this thread hasn't seen any action in over a month... ;)

Would anyone be able to do me a favor and post a picture of the SSC Dewback directly from above? It's not important which way it's facing as long as the image shows the entire dewback and directly from above. Resolution isn't terribly important either, so any camera-phone picture would be fine.

EDIT: Never mind. ;) I found a site with some great SSC Dewback reference images that includes one from below, which for my purposes was good enough: https://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=JReviews&file=print&id=1077

Using the image and a little photoshop work, I determined that it should fit into my expanded Ikea Expedit shelf (27" wide x 15" deep) with a small rotation and the snout sticking out past the edge. Unfortunately it means no glass doors on that shelf, but I suppose that's less work as I don't have to build the glass doors anymore. Win-win.

Alright...I absolutely love this piece, but it's pretty much as if you can't have one without the other (meaning the Sand Trooper). And right now, you almost literally can't have the Sand Trooper, because they're all taken up, and the only way to get one nowadays is by aging a lot, throwing down $400+, or waiting for Sideshow to realize that it wouldn't be a bad idea to produce a Sand Trooper 2.0 to sell along with the Dewback.

I'm relatively new to collecting, and it's obvious that I've missed out on the Sand Trooper, but I had a cool thought that I haven't really researched yet. Has anyone thought of slapping a Clone Trooper/Commander on top of the Dewback? As much as I dislike the new Star Wars flicks, I've always loved the diverse combos/colors/ranks/jobs of Clone Troopers and Clone Commanders. I'm all for movie accuracy, but who's to say that the Clone Troopers never utilized a Dewback? Quite honestly, I'd rather have a nice $150 Clone Trooper and/or Commander perched on top of my Dewback over an overpriced Sand Trooper who, when clean, belongs behind a desk in the Death Star anyway.

The Desert Sands Detachment Sandtrooper "Deluxe" was already 2.0, so you'd need Sideshow to do a 3.0 this time around. ;) You can find troopers for $150, the first place to look is here in the forum because members usually sell for the best and most equitable prices. You can also find deals on eBay of course, YMMV. I have three right now. 2 Sideshow including one from eBay one from the forum, and a Marmit from eBay.

But if you find a Squad Leader (Orange Pauldron) or Deluxe for under $150, you should send me a PM and let me have him instead - you should really pick up the Sergeant and Corporal first before you tackle the Squad Leader or Deluxe. ;)

Thanks for the info, dude. Bring on the 3.0 then! I'll definitely look around here, but I really don't wanna wait for the right one to come along. I still think it'll look just as sweet with a Clone Commander sitting on top. Thanks again.

i'm in the same boat with you bro. I missed out on all the sandtroopers, ive had my dewback since last year and I still don't have a sandtrooper for him yet. very frustrating. and like you I refuse to pay what some of the prices are for him right now are (ridiculous). you just gotta keep looking and hope for the best.

I remember thinking Desert Sands was guaranteed to be in stock at least until the Dewback was sold out (especially since the trooper had no edition size), but that's Sideshow.

Was just admiring this piece the other day and decided to take a few pics . . . . . .

Great pics, TK83. Can't see how anyone who loves 1/6th scale, figures, and Star Wars wouldn't have a set up like this in their home. I can't stand figures, but for the price of the Dewback (a fantastic statue), I couldn't pass up the chance at owing one. It'll be here in June, and I finally picked up a brand new SS Deluxe Desert Sands Detachment Trooper (yeah I know, a figure) at a decent price to sit on top of it. My 1/6th Star Wars collection is now complete....unless of course they come out with another sweet 1/6th related product....let's say, AT-AT Walker/AT-AT Driver?

It's still available at SSC so there's still hope. I'm also looking for one but they are hard to come by at an affordable price overseas :(
