Most names are lost to me so if they mention a character not in the scene I'm oblivious to who it is, but I'm enjoying the show a lot

Dong? :lol

I read the books, couldnt imagine listening to them. I assume it is narrated by one person, correct? Doesnt it get confusing then, considering there are so many characters?

Also, as someone else mentioned, yes the characters, including Jaime Lannister are not so cut and dry, many of them have good and evil in them, and JL's killing of The Mad King was one of his more noble acts, but is also the one used to defame him. There is no question evil in him, pushing a child out a window (likely to his death) is testament to that, but at the same time, I think in that harsh world, life is pretty cheap and murder doesnt carry the same weight there as it does here, especially for someone who has been a part of taking many lives.

One character that I find very interesting in the same way is Sandor (The Hound) Clegane. There is obviously real decency in him, but at the same time he is capable of so much evil, and often speaks of it with a sense of glee.

Martin did a real service to his characters in making them have such real depth and nuance.

couldn't agree more, Sandor is my favorite character.

Just to answer your questions about Theon's torture and the Dragon Lady from the books:

Spoiler Spoiler:

While I understand it would be impractical for the show, I think Theon's story would be so much more powerful had it mirrored the books story.

Spoiler Spoiler:

The majority of this episode, nearly in it's entirety, never actually happend in the books. Was kind of weird to watch actually, my Wife and I were constantly pausing the DVR over this.

My only complaint about the show is time wasted on characters I don't care about. Having read the books and now watching the show, I think it is valid complaint that there are TOO many characters for a TV show. It works great in the books but sometimes it does not translate well to a show to have that many characters and story lines going on at once.

Totally agree. One hundred percent, and it has no main protagonist, which is why this show is boring. Not became of the acting, production, character design or overall plot.

But because of the endless interruptions of characters that have little to no value, even if it ends up going somewhere or they are important eventually innthenbook, the crippled kid and his posse, Theon, the fat bald guy in the senate the old lady from kings landing,Stannis, the fat guy from the crows, the list goes on and on and on... I cringe when those guys come on because they interrupt the storyline and that's why I feel things are moving as slow as molasses.

That and the names are confusing, all the damn guys they cast look the same, it drives me crazy.

And again, no clear protagonist, of it was like that in the book that's fine but it does not work for a TV show.

I know I look like a whiner here rhe truth is I really do enjoy the show but I'm just frustrated because it could be a favorite, the moments of greatness are just too few and far between the long drawn out side storylines.

There are some things about this show that in my opinion surpasses any other TV show in history but overall I truely feel like its a bit of a hot mess.

Can you not let your own judgement choose a side? Then their opposition becomes the protagonist, its like a choose your own adventure, if I choose the Starks the lannisters are the protagonists, if you like the lannisters then the threats to them should affect you...etc. etc.. If it was a movie the swapping from character to character would be to much, the parts you hate others may like the most

With so much going on with so many characters, it seems like 5 minutes of the hour is spent on my favorites, then onto the others I could care less about.
Anyways, I'm still glued to the sofa on Sunday night waiting for GoT to come on! :impatient: :lol

All of those people you name are super important, they don't have time to waste on stuff that doesn't matter.

A book can more easily hide the true identity of a character. That type of surprise doesn't work in a visual medium. So they either had to lose Theon for several seasons or clearly show its him all of the torturing was happening too. They've done that plenty this year. Just show him once more before the end of the season and that would be plenty really.

They did at least climb the Wall in the books, so at least that wasn't fill in the gap stuff :lol

The fact that there is no protagonist is what makes the series so good...no one is safe. This is a story of this world, not one character. Also Senate? This isn't Star wars. :lol And I assume you mean Varys, he's pretty damn important

Tywin Lannister has entered Godmode. Does not like butt pirates and broke Grandma Tyrell. :lol

Sucks about the hooker, she had a nice rack.

I noticed that too, it is very disappointing to see how far the show has drifted from the source, even with GRRM involved. The overall story may be the same, but the path to getting there is drastically different.

Except for the fact that Martin didn't write anything about the climb. In one paragraph they are preparing, and the next they are at the top. The 'climb' never actually occured in the book. :rotfl

Whatever happened to the 'Horn of Winter', I guess that plot was dropped completely?
