I dunno where you got your info from, but if this is true, then that prolly means SS US sales quota reaches the target and got the exclusive figure, while their EU sales didn't, hence they can only offer this to the US buyers.

Well, because they have been officially distributing Hot Toys to me and thousands of others around the world for several years now.
Being an official distributer, we return items to them when there are QC issues and we order exclusive official distributer only items from Sideshow.

There is no one else offering an official distributer service in europe.
Sideshow would not be allowed to distribute in europe without Hot Toys agreement. It's all a load of bollox.

The only points relevant to this conversation are these:
* Sideshow have been officially distributing Hot Toys EX items in Europe (and the rest of the world) for years.
* On this occasion Hot Toys have told SS not to distribute this item outside the US.
* This has quite rightly and understandably pissed off both HT collectors and loyal Sideshow customers in the world outside the US.

There is no rational explanation for this that I can see, well not one that wouldn't add even more fuel to the fire.
:lol

**************
Oh, and because we are now entering a socio economic discussion about the bands of wealth throughout europe and the disposable incomes inherent in that... a few more statistics.. these are the "wealthy" european countries.
Let's not get into a recession conversation, not on a toy forum, it would be wrong.. :lol

France: 65,436,552
UK 62,641,000
Germany 81,726,000
Ireland 4,487,000
Italy 61,000,00.00
Sweden 9,500,00
Netherlands 17,000,000.00
(Greece 11,304,000) but I wouldn't imagine too many in Greece are worried about toys right now.

So thats almost 384million (395 including Greece) people in 'wealthy' countries in Europe, obviously I have left a load out.
Switzerland, Norway etc. And what about Oz, India, NZ?

Nope, the "population or wealth" line of logic does not hold any water.

There are no facts, you assumed that the number of people in Europe, Canada, Australia, Africa wherever that would want this figure is in your words 'extremely limited'

You dont know that as a fact and unless you spend the rest of your life dedicated to finding out the answer you'll never know that as fact. What is fact though is you dont have a clue how many people would want this figure if it was made available to them

No I don't know the exact number of people in those countries that want this figure, but with a little common sense I did figure this; If you were to total the amount of people pertaining to those 196 countries that you stated SS and HT distributes to its probably fair to assume that it is an extremely limited number that actually care/want this figure. Hell even in the US its probably an extremely limited number when you compare the 315 plus million people that resided in the US that want this vs those that don't. But since SS sells a vast majority of figures to the US vs say "Europe, Canada, Australia, Africa or wherever" its seems pretty apparent why HT as of now decided to sell there ex. BD iron man to the US and leave most countries with the short end of the stick. Is it by any means fair to all those other countries that are @ssed out? Absolutely not but the FACT remains, for whatever reason, that HT made this exclusive to just those countries. That tommy is the point/fact I was trying to make, I know/understand why your angry about this and I would be too if I were in your shoes but there isn't anything anyone can really do. At the end of the day its all about HT bottom line and what they feel works best for them.

FYI, SS can't ship HT Ex to Japan, Singapore, HK basically countries that also get ex stuffs. But they can ship ex to Indonesia (back when there wasn't ex yet) not sure bout this year though.

The more likely case was this:

Hot Toys Howard: "We only have 500 of these super cool limited edition Iron Man Figures for you"
Mr Sideshow: "What?! We have a huge number of loyal collectors in the US and Internationally, all waiting for the pre-order email?"
Hot Toys Howard: "Well why don't you put up the pre-order at a ridiculous time of day, accidentally not send the emails to half your customers and make it a US only release? That will get rid of most of the fools?"
Mr Sideshow: "But we distribute in europe as well? we had a major PR fiasco with the DX07 Long Telescope?"
Hot Toys Howard: "**** Europe and don't ever mention that long telescope again. ok? OK?"

The more likely case was this:

Hot Toys Bill: "We only have 500 of these super cool limited edition Iron Man Figures for you"
Mr Sideshow: "What?! We have a huge number of loyal collectors in the US and Internationally, all waiting for the pre-order email?"

yes, well that pretty much says it all doesn't it? SS can't ship to countries with official distributers. They do ship to Europe and Oz and the rest of the world.. because... they don't have official distributers.

So this Iron Man deal makes no sense at all.
:dunno

Bill have taken over Howard's HT? :lol
Damn it,,, slip of the keyboard !:lol

Fixed!!

Gotta be edition size alone. Batman himself is easily as popular as any given Iron Man. The only problem is that the variants are limited due to the nature of the character. I'm guessing there were thousands and thousands of those.

Kind of funny that when last year's Mark VI exclusive went up, I procrastinated, in part because I didn't really need the figure, but also because of the TF Bats issue. I assumed "rare exclusive" meant it was not particularly rare at all. But with HT, it's hard to figure out. Some truly are rare in relative Hot Toys terms (like this guy), but many (Toyfair Bats, the 10th Anniversary figures) are far from it.

You have to wonder about this guy being ultra rare too. HT put up the numbers for the Mark VI right off the bat, but so far there hasn't been anything said about the numbers on this one, has there?

It was rumored a while ago that you might be EB BIll :lol

I guess the Iron Man deal is they wanna give it back to their biggest customer base, which is the US?

I guess I am simply surprised at how seemingly personal some people are taking this figure. No matter what Sideshow had done, they would have pissed someone off.

If they had declined to carry it, due to the exclusions, they would have pissed off their U.S. base.

But for the record, what time of day would have been "correct?" Because, I am willing to bet, regardless of when it was, that it would have been inconvenient to someone regardless of when it went up.

If anything, this guy would be more than the mark vi. If it were lesser, they would've put up the numbers as its a selling factor for some collectors/buyers.

Well they could have given a specific time and date of when it will be up maybe a few days in advance, that way the buyers can prep ahead of time.

Sure, but that just pisses off all the people who have been ordering from them from outside the US. They make **** loads of these things, a lot of fans have both all the Avengers figures and the completely overblown Iron man line, but they are then suddenly told "oh no, you are not allowed to buy this one" That sucks lemons in any country, in any language. IMO.

Oh, and I think my glowing reviews of some recent Hot Toys releases would have blown that rumor out of the water!:lol

We also don't know if it's going to be available in European markets as a separate promotion. It may very well be, and that is why Hot Toys is controlling which markets and at what times, it is being released.

No one knows anything about the decisions that when into this. To assume nefarious intent is foolish and ignorant.

from where? Sideshow? There are no official distributers here mate? And it has NEVER happened before, so it could be foolish and ignorant to expect anything more? :wink1:
Thats what we spent the last 5 pages establishing. And that's the reason why people are pissed off. By the way as I said originally, I'm pissed off by the business practice of it all, it's just very poor behaviour from SS.
I never intended to get this figure. I just came into the thread, saw the fight going on and decided to jump in. :lol

ready for the next pre-order debacle?

Everything else is drowning out the next reason why his thread should go into meltdown :lol. I hope this method of linking sales with other figures a la Selene Kyle style stops ASAP. This here is true horse s-it

Not sure if this has been posted, but here is a video of the Mark VII BD Version on display in Hong Kong

I think it looks good but I'm sure it'll look better in hand. I'm still trying to figure out if the damage is just paint & decals or if it's sculpted

I assume you live in the US? If so let me ask you a question; could you invision people queuing up for this in the states like they have in HK and Singapore? Personally I can't which is why the way of getting it in the US was through Sideshow the official distributor of Hot Toys for the US, for that reason I feel Sideshow was our (the UK collectors and everyone else) only way of getting this also

Obviously it remains to be seen if that is the case or not...

so now concessions have to be made for a person not here? funny when a person misses the pre-order and complains, he sorts through infinite 'you should have been available' posts. i believe the same should apply in this case.

Well it is usually board rules that the moderators would kick figure threads back on topic. Given the explosion of complaints this policy has gone the way of the dodo bird. We have mods in here posting as part of he sidebar. This is exception more than rule.

I realize you missed the figure, but good grief everyone doesnt have to suffer through 100+ pages people crying and ****ting the bed (yourself included) cause they missed the PO due to what ever the reasons.

(International company excluded from this comment, valid point on the dirty pool of exclusion and COULD NOT buy it. :lecture)

Hopefully more iron men will come out and this thread will finally die down and calm down.

Guys, I just realized something :lol you do know that this is just the flavor of the week/exc figure of 2013 right? :lol

Fast forward 1 year, and this thread would be exactly the 2011 Batman Begins Bruce Wayne figure - missing parts, loose joints etc. and sub par sculpts and hints of a 2.0 coming soon. Let's face it, part of the fun is hunting and anticipating the arrival of the figure. Once you got it and admired it for a few weeks, it doesn't feel as exciting as the next new figure. My point is, if you missed it, it's fine. There's bound to be the next exclusive 'it' figure of the year next year and the year later etc. HT is a business after all, and they have a bunch of people who throw around ideas every year and come up with a figure that will create buzz like this one. I'm pretty sure this isn't the last figure that'll be The be all end all fig from HT.

Hot Toys Howard: "**** Europe and don't ever mention that long telescope again. ok? OK?"
