I'm not 100% sold on the stylization but definitely willing to give these a chance. On the one hand, I'm happy that these will not be yet another movie-based representation of the characters but I'd love classic representations at some point (disagree with Unclechopchop - as mentioned by screamingmetal, what exactly are these "million avenues" to be explored for comics accurate, high quality, 12" scale Marvel figures?... More like zero avenues, at the mo'!). That said, looking forward to seeing what 3A does. Like Evilface, I might be down for a Juggernaut or Hulk (supposing I don't get an HT Hulk from Avengers 2 or 3) and maybe just have a small representation of 3A Marvel in my collection.

And I wouldn't pigeonhole 3A as mandatorily having the typical Ashley Wood style, they could always branch out and do something uncharacteristic.

:lecture I agree...... I understand these will be an artist interpretation of the character which is fine however, I cannot foresee the typical 3A style working with Marvel characters (I could be proved wrong).

Wolverine / Logan with the typical 3A face, over sized hands and garment won't get my money. They'll need their own "look" which I can recognize as the character to earn my cash.

Even if they did something characteristic Ash's work is not even amongst the "grittiest" nor the "corkiest" on marvel ink and pencil, just look at these;

the last 2 just look down right stupid compared to Ash's work.

My point being, if you want a comic book representation, there's a big chunk of chances that you're gonna get a stylised one, the character is only what the artist wants him/her to be, if you want a classic one, get the statues or the 4" ones, you know 3A's not going to make a conventional job, no need for people to rip off their panties.

And someone said something about dissing Ashley wood be like dissing Da vinci? Well pretty much.

But that's just me :peace

might be good. Might be ***. or ****. or *******.

Depends on just how "reimagined" they are.

if, for example, itls like 2006 cartoon fantasic 4 VS comic fantastic 4, for example, ok, I can dig it.

if it means they look like regular ashley wood figures, Barf.

as for quality, I've heard nothing but great things about ThreeA.

My personal opinion. I want my famous super heroes to LOOK LIKE the character they are meant to be. In some cases, this reimagining can be pretty cool.

in other cases, no thankyou.

I'm not a fan of the ashley wood style, and they take aeons to release anything, but we will see how they end up.

Good thing no ones forcing them to buy them then. ;)

lol too true.

i own the Rex, some adventure kartel and a few WWR figures. as much as i like them i really wish they would take this as a opportunity to branch out and away from the "needs more dirty wash" look. everything literally looks like it belongs in the same freaking line from one another
im all for stylized interpretations and i get that its "their thing" but its time for them now that they have become established to start branching off from dirty washes make a figure
that's really my wish from this when it finally comes down to getting them out there.

time will tell, i suppose

Well regular Ash figures are a work of art, yup, it's not for everyone that's what makes them so special, but you don't need to worry, they look like that cause they're faithful representations of Ash's own graphic novels concepts, since this is a licence, I'm sure they will be different, while maintaining 3A and Ash's touch, which is the cherry on top.

What no Sam Kieth or Simon Bisley? :rolleyes2
Taste is a matter of opinion.
I don't think people who have an issue with this announcement are saying Wood's artwork is bad, it's just people are asking themselves, which would I rather spend large sums of money on, Wood's very stylized interpretation, or a more realistic interpretation of the Marvel comic characters? Most people would chose something more realistic and less stylized and feel this is a wasted opportunity.

Because there's so many artistic representations, you'd want to go with one that's the most popular, Wood's representation isn't the most popular and might be a little too stylized for most.
Affordable high quality representations of the comic versions of these characters in mixed media 1:6 scale don't exist. Statues just aren't the same.

But who knows how these will look like until we see them, I'm waiting to see what these look like before passing judgment.

a reasonable middle ground opinion outside all the nut hugging and debi downers. nothing to be excited / hatin on until their revealed :lol

REalistic is already being handeled by Hot toys.

I want comic book figures that look like the page come to life.

the medicom marvel figures are some of my favorites, but they're waay too fragile.

Just a question out of curiosity to those who are not 100% on board with Ash's reimaginings.

What comic version of your favourite marvel character would you like to see instead of the 3A? If you could put some pics that'd be nice.

If Sideshow was doing 1/6 Marvel like their upcoming DC 1/6 line,Nobody would even care about these or give them a look

I'd care more about the 3A versions than any other for both aesthetics and price.

what do you mean? those 3A pieces are expensive..

it would be cheaper to buy Sideshow Marvel 1/6 that will actually look like their Comic representations

threea makes great figures. this is good news the more competition in the 1/6 scale the better. why is there so much bashing on threea? HULK and PUNISHER would be freaking cool.

Human 3a figs range from $70 to $150 at retail. depending on what comes with it, only very rarely is it higher than that.

Sideshow first DC was $190 i think.

Oh yeah you're right, I just checked for some prices and they go for around the same, just a couple on both SC and 3A are above $250.

That leaves aesthetics only, and I personally find any Ash's concepts more interesting and exciting that the more conventional representations.

As for canon "comic" representations, they are vary a lot, see my post in the previous page.

they will, though not like any other figure of that character, it'll look like them but also be different

Thank god hot toys isn't like that

That's for 3A figures that aren't licensed.
Once you add the license cost, the price will go up.
Just look at the price of their Halo figure it's $220. Which I might add, isn't a stylized reinterpretation from 3A, so they can work outside of their typical style.

When it comes to Wolverine, it's old school Marc Silvestri for me:

Or Jim Lee during his Wolverine or Uncanny X-Men run:

And I'd also love a Travis Charest version of Wolverine:
