Randy's answer to the twitter hate:

"I have always profited from criticism, and thankfully, I have never been in short supply."

I hope his next Borderlands ****ing sucks, and all his fans feel the same way we do. Maybe that'll get his attention.

Actually according to reports BL2 is the reason they outsourced and delayed this game. They never had the manpower to take this on to begin with but needed the money that it came with to finish their other games properly. If that's true, it seems not only BS but illegal.

How is that illegal? As long as they paid the people who helped them with development, they haven't broken any laws. Making a s@!tty Alien game might seem like a crime, but that's only in our nerdy minds.

They took the money that came with Aliens and instead of putting it into the Aliens game, used it to finish Borderlands. If that isn't illegal it's definately unethical, I'm sure Sega didn't assume their money was going to go twoards making someone else a better game while the people they hired never touched the property they gave them and lied to your clients.

It's like if I send you a custom figure to paint for me and $150, and you spend the $150 on your own figures and let your little brother paint my head. That isn't the service I bought.

I don't think we'll ever really know what money went where. With so many years involved and all the outsourcing going on, it'll be hard to see if they did anything sketchy like that. I hope not. I need Borderlands 3.

Actually the years passed is exactly why we know this. People who use to work at the studio on the project have since moved on to other jobs and are the ones coming out and saying it. If I were Sega I'd have lawyers on the job right now, Pitchford needs to answer, his attitude is only going to further piss people off. At this point, unapologetic as he is, he should be fired. That'd get him saying sorry real damn fast.

That sounds like complete speculation....

The articles somewhere in this thread from the past 2-3 days, take a look and judge for yourself.

they paid another company for work they didn't do.

Some guy did the same thing in his own office, he paid people in china do to his work while he didn't do nothing, and got FIRED. why is this different?

Also Randy LIED about the previews of the game, He lied and used faked footage, He lied to buyers and to retailers.

He didn't use his own people to work on the game he paid another company to finish a game and then he used fake footage to sell the game.

any way you look at this seems illegal and wrong. He should seriously get fired or at least give a refund to everyone that wants one.

This has to be the second worst game I've ever played since Duke Nukem Forever. What ever happened to the creative minds of the 21st century? They really hyped this game up with all their marketing and fake screenshots prior to the release date. What a rude and pathetic way to get everyone excited. What a complete epic fail attempt to do something very wrong from start to finish.

And funnily enough both came from the same company in very similar circumstances.

All kidding aside, even if you HATE Alien 3, the fact that someone actually wrote this absolute drivel is baffling. It's the worst thing in the Alien franchise since AvP-R.

I actually kinda likes AvP-R, particularly the ending. AvP however......

Here is a fun review from Amazon. :lol

This review reeks of "we're getting hammered on Amazon, you guys should contact your friends and family so that they can bump our score with 4 and 5. Don't make it too obvious though!"

I'm pretty sure it's illegal and SEGA could sue. SEGA (whatever they knew) paid for ACM, paid for several extensions of deadlines and if the money and manpower truly was dedicated mostly to BL2 that's a breach of contract and all kinds of unethical ****.

That sounds like complete speculation....

Like Deckard said the articles have been posted, the information is there,

they were working on both Aliens and Borderlands, they gave Aliens to another company to finish for them.
I mean, how much proof do you need? is right there, they didn't have the manpower to finish Alien and they outsourced the work to the other company.

They kept getting paid by Sega but the other company was doing the game, and they ruined it.

I don't think that's the issue though. if GB had outsourced it and the new developer hit a home run, I doubt people would be complaining about it being outsourced. The issue being brought up now is whether or not, GB used Aliens money to make Borderlands 2. If they did, I'd have to agree that they screwed up and would be in deep dookie with Sega...rightfully so.

like you said I could even understand the outsourcing if the game was very good. You are right, there would be no issue.

but the fact that he used fake footage is what is driving most people to the edge of insanity.

Besides, people like Borderlands and maybe Gearbox Could have made a really good game if they didn't outsource.
that is the problem here, that Gearbox Could have made a good effort and make a really really good game but we will never know now.

The story still sucks anyway, the plot is really stupid specially with the one person that survived.

Absolutely tragic.

That kind of thing may have been allowable under the contract between Sega and Gearbox.

I'm sure it was. Outsourcing happens all the time in game development and GB hasn't tried to hide the outsourcing at any time that im aware of. The real sticking point becomes whether or not, money was misused. There's a conflict of interest where GB was contracted by two different publishers at the same time. I don't know if wrong doing could be proven even if they were guilty of anything. All I know is that I love Borderlands 2 and need Borderlands 3.
