Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

So I was thinking, I know, dangerous statement on this board. Like every other figure, it says pending licensor approval. Do you think the Marvel will make them change the body sculpt so it matches the film version? Meaning less cut and more bulky. Because even though the head could be tweaked more, its a pretty decent representation to film. Where as the torso really isn't even close. And seeings as this is not an actor decision but a studio one. I wonder if we will see a completely different figure when its finally released.

I hope so!

That'd go a long way to improving this figure imo. DX Bruce Lee's proto body was ridiculously cut and toning it down before release was a good move. They shouldn't even have to be told by Marvel, they should do it regardless.

Maybe it's over-defined here with the proto, but by the time the mold is made, and the final version produced, it gets less defined. Maybe. :dunno

ARGHHHH! I couldn't resist the urge, the price is too good (haha, the 12 year old me wonders how $270 was good). I honestly don't care. In pictures it's hard to judge how big this bastard is... but he's huge, and awesome... and will dominate my shelf.

THOUGH! I hope there isn't a giant hole in his ****** to shove the clear stick. That would suck! (or sodimize)

edit: amazing that r*e*c*t*u*m is a bad word on this forum... can't get much more anatomical than that.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Isn't this supposed to be a representation of a raging Hulk? Therefore making him ripped.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

it's the rod rammed into his butt that makes him rage........... RAGEEEEE

edit: SOOOOO butt is ok, but r*e*c*t*u*m isn't... that's just weird

Yeah I agree but this is Tsang we are talking about. He doesn't seem to care about whether or not it looks like the movie. This would have been a great example of using the Sideshow statue as a reference like they some times do.

Some detail is softened when the molds are made due to the process so he won't be as ripped as the proto. I'd still prefer a more accurate sculpt to the movie physique but i'm happy with it as it is

Then he needs to be replaced. Sorry, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but really, at the end of the day I'm not buying a "highly detailed replica" because I want something stylized and inaccurate. The body needs work. I'm going to be a little b#$ch about this, but really, if you're companies written MO is accurate likeness then I want accurate likeness. The Hulk's body has a very specific look, and that's what I want. Does it look bad as is? No, but we shouldn't have to settle for less.

I agree with all this. But the definition of LIKENESS is

act of being like, resemblance, An imitative appearance; a semblance.
A pictorial, graphic, or sculptured representation of something; an image.

I'm guilty of it too. As I think we all may be. Likeness doesn't mean mirror image or identical duplication. As much as we may want it to.

No definitely not.. but I think trying to make something as close to the source as possible, and being overly stylistic are two very different POVs. So I think Hot Toys still needs to address that in their work. Take the new Black Widow figure for example. I think she looks great, but I still wish she was a bit more screen accurate in regards to her body. I think they made a stylistic (and obvo business decision so they could reuse the body) choice instead deciding to be as true as possible to the source. It is what is. The figures are still great, I just expect more as prices go up.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Hot Toys seems happy with Tsang, many dislike his interpretation of the ALIEN and some of his Predator work and HT keeps using him.

You'd think that the licensor would set out the rules but Hot Toys must have a 'artistic license' loophole in their contracts somewhere as, as stated by MaulFan, the issues are across several licneses.

Yep. And I think thats where the HUMAN aspect comes into play too much. What the sculpters eyes are seeing is different that what Marvel is seeing. And thats different from what I am seeing......etc.

Someone made a comment in the Lt Gordon thread about many of the recent head sculpts looking a tiny bit asian. I actually agree with this. I love the figure and have it PO'd. The worst part now is waiting 7 months or so. The positive is that since I have all the Avengers and Batman figures on PO, they all started trickling in last month. And they probably will come @ 2 a month from now until someone smacks some sense into me!!!:slap:cuckoo:

people still buy aliens, predators and his other work so ht probably don't see any reason to not use him. maybe his pay is cheaper than others too

Could be a lot of factors, who knows who signs off on products, maybe they don't get the source material as much as they should.

With Hulk, I think companies have flexibility with his musculature. Most of Hasbro's Hulks go for the bulky, undefined look, but the Walmart exclusive is very defined like HT. Hulk does look that way at moments, so it's not wrong, but less definition would be better representation of him overall. info think that licensing probably favors Hulk looking more ripped and fierce like HT went for.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

I totally get this argument and I'm suprised that Marvel didn't have more to contribute as this is the definitive 1/6 and Hulk is a digital character. I like the human aspect but given the ease to which a digital representation (3D sculpt) could have been made for reference, I'm suprised it isn't more like the move... that said, its massive, and heavy, and awesome...
