Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

And yet for every person who is "priced out" someone else fills their spot, and the prices continue to go up.

Truest statement ever. Whaaa-whaaa, bye kiddie with no money, hello kind sir who has real cash.

No one ever said buying expensive toys was gonna be fun.

+1 for toys2 as well. They've been very reliable for me, and they are usually the first in NA to get the HT stuff, sometimes even before Sideshow. Their shipping is usually about $12 cdn.
Super Power Collectibles is also looking pretty good. Definitely thinking about buying from them instead of my LCS as they tack on an additional $25.00 on every figure, so I don't save much compared to buying direct from Sideshow.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

But to think that this will lower the prices is silly.

No but at some point they will go too far. They are increasing both in price and production. Were they increasing in price and keeping production low they could continue much longer, but as they raise the price the market does shrink. If they keep going like this they will eventually find themselves with a lot of product and too small a base. And no, this is not me whining. This is me noting what I have seen happen time and again with businesses that caught fire and expanded too fast only to be caught with their pants down when the market fell out.

Depends on what you consider expensive. As I have pointed out in the past there's a lot of collector hobbies that are way more expensive including the world of Ball Jointed Dolls. Those can get super expensive really fast. You can pay $300+ just for a nude body and head. There's also resin garage kits, statues, prop replicas, etc.

1/6 is kind of mid to low level in terms of cost. Somewhere between 8" action figures and larger format statues.

I'm sure if he's joining this board and ordering from SSC, he knows the price, can afford it, and not worried about it. Which is what I wish a lot of board members would do.

indeed. i've spent way too much on these in the last month. you know how it is when you start collecting something new. you've got to get back editions, etc. i've got to set up a limit of 1 or 2 figures a month.

I said 1 or 2 a month too. 36 Hot Toys, 24 Medicom, 163 Sideshow and 32 DC Direct 13" later, ...................:slap:slap:slap

I'm not even attempting to fill the backlog of what I missed. Only preordering.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

For those of you that already own iron mans whats the battery life one the eyes and repulsors on these babies?

If you leave them on, 6 days 21 hours 18 minutes and 44 seconds.

If you don't leave them on, 6 days 21 hours 18 minutes and 54 seconds :horror :wave

The production amount we see is based on retailer purchases from Hot Toys. If retailers have unsold product, its because they over ordered not because Hot Toys over produced. HT doesn't just make 10000 and ship them out. Stores place orders. Retailers were betting on selling more then pre orders. They didn't so there is an over stock.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Non-exclusives usually gets free shipping.... (which Mk. VII's EX does not have)

Aw crap! Oh well, ordered him anyway. :slap

I feel for some of the collectors out there. I love HT's and while their products range from good to great, I'm only collecting certian IM and Batman figs so I can afford some of the other figures like Gordon ex.

I would love to get alot more figures but I'd be that guy in a ditch from the direct tv commerical after the wife found out how much I spent.

I'm sticking to the Avengers only for the time being. My wife would hang me if I go too far with this hobby.

It's funny this same discussion happens every $25 increase in price. And yet for every person who is "priced out" someone else fills their spot, and the prices continue to go up.

Very true.

Buy it directly from Hong Kong?

Shipping would be a killer....

Yes indeed. Knowing the prices these will reach on the secondary market is why I make ordering immediately a priority. This time though, I have 4 PFs with NRDs in that time frame and cannot afford anything else in March. If it was May, probably would, and pray it goes no higher.

:exactly:

It is fun. It's just also borderline insane. :lol

:clap:rotfl

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I've decided that I want this figure. Something tells me the IM3 figures will NOT be spectacular and who knows with Avengers 2 or when, so......I shall preorder this _____

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I'm thinking about ordering 2. First I was sure, now I'm not. The thing is that the Mark 7 is probably in IM3 so perhaps Hot Toys releases a Mark 7 IM3 version...?

well the good thing about preordering without a cancel fee is that most likely you will have a glimpse of at least some filming photos and artwork to see if something upcoming might be better, assuming HT will make a good figure.

I think if the IM3 movie is a big success, everyone and their grandma will want the figure despite the vomitus color scheme.
