Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

If it wasnt for the cheap International shipping from sideshow, i wouldnt buy any hot toys from them.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Collectors are the ones to blame for the high prices. I'm sure HT and SS reps see what these are selling for on Ebay and realize that people are idiotic enough to pay stoopid prices. They know they'll sell out if they price it at $150 or $250. I mean c'mon, ae these things worth $300-$700? No! Those of you paying these prices on Ebay are the ones to blame :cuckoo:

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Ordered . . . but I'm afraid by this time next year I'm gonna be priced out. I love my Hot Toys, but if it keeps going like this it's going to get to where they're just not worth it. :(

Same here. I have some items on pre order. some on flexpay cause of the unaffordability.
I cancelled $300 worth of stuff on sideshow this morning to try and make room for this iron man.
Have been waiting to see all prices of the complete team of avengers before ordering, now i have decided im not going to get all of them.
Looks like $1600 so far not including (international shipping) or the HULK or Phil Coulson.
So im afraid Cap, Thor, Iron Man and (Maybe if hes not $600 frickin dollars) HULK will make the cut.
After this year, im afraid my hot toys days are done.... and its all because of pricing.:(

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

How much does it usually cost to ship a 1/6 figure to Australia?

The last few Hot Toys i have gotten from SS only cost approx $25-30 by fed ex.
Which is really cheap considering basically the average price of shipping from sellers on ebay by POST is around $40-60.

Rest assured, no end in site. Too bad you'll need to leave the hobby :(

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Here's an interesting question to think about:

How much is Sideshow marking up these Hot Toys figures?? Seriously, if places like BBTS (who buys them from Sideshow) sell them for 10% less than Sideshow then clearly Sideshow has a substantial margin on these figures... that they themselves don't pay a penny to produce.

I'm thinking Sideshow is making at least $50-$100 pure profit off of this $250 MKVII figure. And as the sole NA distributor of HT figures, perhaps their margin is a major reason for these price hikes. Everyone is quick to point the finger at Hot Toys for the prices, but retailers (who, again, get the figures from Sideshow) continually sell them for less than Sideshow's price. And Sideshow basically has a monopoly on HT figures in NA now. This is growing increasingly suspicious.

:goodpost::goodpost:

Again, I've always been suspicious of SS from the start, because if you want to know HT base price, just take a look at the pricing they have in Asian countries. If you factor in that price plus shipping to SS warehouse it's still nowhere near the price they're charging.

FYI, the price that I got here for recent POs are Spidey ($175), Bane ($150), The new Batman DX ($195), Joker DX ($200).

Yup. I think Sideshow's added margins are a BIG reason for these current Hot Toys prices.

As the only official NA distributor I'm sure Sideshow is selling these to the retailers for basically the price WE should be buying them at, and then setting the higher retail price accordingly.

I'm telling you, this is a $180 figure were it not for this.

Already there my friend :rotfl

The past year and a half has been a struggle keeping up.
Things arent as easy as they used to be.

When i started collecting hot toys, it was a switch from Premium formats to HT 12 inch, i thought, wow these are awesome, take up less room, hell of a lot cheaper and better quality. (Thats back when they were $139.99, $169.99 per hot toys figure.)
Now? They are getting to be the price of what the premium formats USED to be.

IF i continue, next year im pretty sure it will be very very very very few select figures and they would have to be totally over the top excellent to drop a small fortune on. No obscure characters etc.

But im pretty sure ill keep my 50 something little hot toys army and just be happy with what i got. :wave

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Hey guys for someone in Canada is Sideshow still a good option or anyone know of better alternative within the country? I've used Urban Samurai hobbies before but not for Hot Toys and wondering if the delay is much bigger

That's cheap. I live in NC, USA and HT Rescue Cap cost me $20 in shipping.

Sideshow is still good. No Brokerage Fees with Fed Ex through them. Just the taxes on our end. At least, that has been the case for me thus far.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

If you live in Canada then I would use toys 2 . There always getting figures first . I used to use them exclusively for years but shipping cost to America have sky rocketed to astronomical rates lately . There's just no way I can use them anymore unfortunately . For you there the Place to go .

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I feel everyone's pain I had to cancel my batpod and Joker 2.0 to afford this and Avengers Cap, Thank God for Big Bad Toy Store and the Spread out release dates Still though I have Gordon and Cap coming in September, Bale Batman in December, and Bane, Iron Man, and probably Catwoman come March. Hot Toys has me by the balls! One question regarding Iron Man though since this is my first Hot Toys Iron Man how long can you leave the figure lit up whats the Battery life usually like on these Iron Man Figs?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

I'm not getting all the THINGS ARE GOING TO BURST FOR HOT TOYS SOON comments. I agree that these are all getting VERY expensive. And that sucks. But the fact that they are making more figures every year and continue to sell out ( I know there are a few still in stock that haven't sold out ) and sell for retail or higher on ebay ( I know Odin, Goblin and few other sometimes sell for less than retail ), tells me that they are still growing. Not many companies sell out all of their produce product.

I don't think the end is near for HT at all. We forget that this is a luxury. We don't need these. Its not food, or shelter or transporation. And as some of us fall away and stop collecting, for whatever reason, there will be other starting to take our place. When prices reach my breaking point, I'll probably need years of therapy. I feel bad for those who are already there.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS185 - The Avengers: Iron Man MK VII

Side show probably has a 40% margin on these gives the resllers a 20% margin (the resellers offer a 10% discount meaning they make 10%) basically on a $250 product SS probably is making $110 when they sell direct (- $20 free shipping)
