I don't give a ____ really.

But they said it themselves, don't know if you saw the pictures from the interview, they aren't TOYS but high-end collectibles. The name was just something Howard made up because it was "easy and simple to remember".

Its understandable that HT would call their products "High End Collectibles", which, theres no denying they are, but lets not cover over the fact that they are still very much "toys" as well. Doesnt mean people have to "play with their "Hot Toys"....People buy and collect Barbies and other Toys that they dont "play" with but would you not call a Barbie Doll a Toy if a collector only displayed it? Its still a TOY. As one other already mentioned, if you work for "Hot Toys" you work in the toy industry.

There are different definitions for the word "Hot". Temperature...popular...attractive...etc.


Theres pretty much only one definition for "toy".

Well, its the truth.

Only because YOU can make anything into a toy doesn't mean it is. I can play with a pen and pretend it's a lightsaber, doesn't mean the pen is a toy. Hot Toys themselves said that their figures aren't toys, but high-end collectibles. The articulation isn't there because you are meant to play with them as toys, but be able to change the poses. It's basically an articulated statue. Is a statue a toy? You could probably throw it around and play with it as a toy, but that's not its purpose really. Toy means to me something that you play with, that's not the purpose of these collectibles.

The point is they can not be treated like toys. I've seen stories of people who had never owned a figure before, and bought the Predator or Ironman figure since collectors were recommending them. And then were genuinely Stunned when it breaks because of how they were handling it. They never had experience with these products and thought they were no different than a hasbro G.I joe. Some people equate expensive with durable, which these are not.

I don't have a problem with you calling these figures toys, that's your personal opinion because you play with them. I don't mind people playing with these figures, not at all. But the creator of Hot Toys said they aren't toys which I agree with.

The definition of toys is mostly known by everyone as something you play with. The definition Dinolast pulled out was probably a joke, because I can't find it, but if it's true, that's the first time I hear of it. I bet not many people would know that Toy had that definition, first thing people would think of is something you play with. Therefore it make much more sense to call these expensive, fragile, high-end quality products for collectibles rather than toys.

Well I got my wires mixed up with all the comments because I am on your side, because I have never taken the word toy as literately just meaning a child's play thing. Calling these figures toys is fine, because they are grown up toys. So sorry for thinking we were on two different wave lengths
