Good lord! Is this figure really that dead to you?! :panic:

No, you know how OCD I am. Just a thought. I looked at Rory's pics where the oil appears to be coming up from that sealed sculpted section of the lower legs. I've got another on the way that I can't back out of (if I canceled I'd have to pay a fee). So the thought did occur to me that, since this figure doesn't have pants/leggings like the DX 02 and Begins/OC/Demon it might be interesting to create an incision around the waist (circumference the belt would hide of course) to see what's going on.

I haven't ventured into customizing (other than a few paper clip tricks for Terminator and Two-Face or cape clips on Batman) but I have thought about getting an extra body to cut up (appropriate segmented armor pieces) and put over a Stormtrooper under suit.

I would strip you of you're 1989 Batman fan status...and yes, I do have the authority. :lecture

I don't think you realize how many I end up with . . . whole figures and bodies.

August was a month of many pre-orders. I thought for sure this would be problem free. Looks like the jokes on me. :lol

By looking at the list, not much people was affected.
Thinking if i should take this risk to collect '89 Batman to accompany my PO-ed joker.

Well, for you and I and many others it still is problem free.

Luckily mine is fine . :yess: Like i already said , "I already have a leaking wet Batman DX02 , Don't need another"

Thanks JYE4Eva

Here's the deal with mine...

In the interest of absolute clarity, the only place I saw any sort of oil was underneath the belt buckle itself. Keep in mind that I left the black paper more or less in place, only scrunching it under the belt here and there to hide it in key, visible areas. Any of this talk surrounding the taping/gluing of the belt's magnet and how it's reacting to the body suit doesn't apply to my particular figure.

Now then, that said, it actually made a...and believe me, I wish I had a better way of explaining this...but it produced a kind of "trail" when I opened the buckle and pulled it away from the body. Y'know, kinda like caramel between two halves of a candy bar in a candy bar commercial... ;)

Seriously though, that's what it was like. Thinner (much, much thinner) than caramel, of course, but the same basic principle. A super-thin trail of clear moisture. I wiped it off with my index finger, refastened the buckle and left it untouched for a few days. I just checked it again a few minutes ago and it's still as dry as a bone.

For now? Possibly. But there it is.

So maybe this time the culprit is the belt and not coming from the rubber suit. However with the belt possibly leaving a residue trail like that, some may have assumed based on bad memories from the last oil debacle that it was leaking from the body again? :dunno

So far 6 figures from 5 collectors have experienced oil secretions,

1. Rory (1st Batman)
2. Rory (2nd Batman)
3. The Boot
4. CollectorNC
5. King Darkness (I think)
6. schokolade

2 figures/2 collectors are unsure if it's oil or simply tape residue from the glue of the belt (left side around magnet),

1. Maglor
2. UltraMarknus

19 collectors have checked and claimed to have not had signs of oil so far,

1. Myself
2. Jye
3. Evilface
4. Batty
5. PJW
6. Custo
7. highlander1
8. zeelhar
9. IrishJedi
10. Cocoboloboy
11. Karnis
12. preeny101
13. mikericm
14. Natrix
15. Guyver (If anyone had oil I thought for sure it would be this guy)
16. tommyh84
17. cr0w
18. T-?
19. Mr. EcKo

I've checked facebook, onesixthwarriors and a few Asian message boards but so far, we freaks are the only ones that seem to be experiencing problems. I'm sure that will change once more collectors become aware.

Add me to the tape residue list.:panic:

No, no, no. Folks here would never assume the worst and/or jump to such conclusions.

That still doesn't explain Rory's oil residue returning after keeping the belt off the figure, and having previously wiped it clean.

Caramel??......

I mean...y'know...yeah, that was one way to describe it. From personal experience, I can think of a few staunchly heterosexual alternatives that might help to illustrate my point (then again, with this crowd, ya never know...i keed, i keed...) but yeah. There was a super thin bead of clear moisture that momentarily suspended itself between the body and the buckle when I removed the belt.

Jeez, this sounds filthy. I'm telling you though, that was my personal experience with Batman.

Aww man, that sounds disgusting, too! Too much innuendo! :panic:

Seriously. Bead of oil. Buckle to body. Been a few days. Only saw it once. Just tryin' to help. The end. :monkey3

so have any of you actually emailed HT about this? All I read is a lot of ranting about the problem and hoping there's a fix for it.

Emailing them will get you the stock email it always does. You'd be better off peppering pics of the issue on their Facebook page in hopes of a rep contacting you.

Direct email as a form of communication is already dead.

Pics on the internet/Facebook get you noticed. Now if you can get a picture of someone at the HT factory injecting our dolls with oil, well then you have the motherload.
