Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

Sadly it's happening with multiple iconic characters at the moment superman and Indy are in stock at multiple sites. Hot toys are not selling like before when you had to always preorder nowadays you can even wait after its hit the market and even shop around for marked down HT's. The company has lost some of Its killer demand it had in the past 16 months due to Its new direction and increase in price in my opinion. Happy holidays to all

They are not numbered and they are certainly not limited. HT will fill every preorder they receive and have plenty left to etailers/retailers for weeks if not months. The only people that will have to resort to higher then retail pricing are new collectors that came late to the party.
Much higher retail prices on new releases, along with declining QC, and recent announcement to re-release/redo long sold out pieces have have turned me of quite a bit.
Everyone agreeing that the prices are getting ridiculous but buying anyway is why the prices keep going up.
40% price increase for a Tobey HS :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

i'm one of those complaining about the price but also buying on this particular one, as Black Suited Spider-man is my fave spidey costume, but i've skipped others like Joker, Batman, Mark II remake and Milk machine cos of price and timing

When was Supes out, November? And people reckon it oughta be sold out by now? Mk I hung around for months after release, went through some heavy discounting and now look at it. Seems to me that these threads always get choked up with peeps with short memories whining about the good old days when it's pretty much the same as it ever was. One thing the whiners never seem to mention is how much better today's figures are than just about any figure bought 3 years ago. Prices have jumped somewhat in the past year or so, but I see this reflected in the complexity of the figures as much as in Howard Chan's new wheels.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

I am holding off on this figure even though it looks amazing. I'll wait until the figure is released then I'll hope the trend continues were these can be bought below retail after a short period. Absolutely no need to pay $200+ for a figure when it may be had later much cheaper. I don't care about the exclusive unlike Bespin Luke so either version will work.

I agree, the figures have come leaps and bounds, they are by no means perfect but they are a damn sight better than what they were.

I think that a head sculpt and a Sandman base does qualify the price jump. Who wouldn't want it cheap, hell i'd take it free, but i'll pay the price because i think that it's worth it.

I p.od the the exclusive ,the sandman base and spidey looks even better in the video glad to have in few months ...hope they keep coming up with cool bases like supermans fortress stand goblins board.....and this one

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

:lol Sideshow cancelled my order for the exclusive.

They don't want my monies :slap

Yeah I know it's only available to certain countries.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

Really, why did they do that? Maybe they are gonna lower the price, haha, yea right.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

"Please Note - This item is only available to customers in North America, Europe and Australia"

Edit: Uh oh, I didn't realise the normal version is also only available to NA, EU & OZ :slap

Maybe they are letting you guys get first dibs, then decide whether to open up pre orders for other countries later on. Kinda lame.

Ok, Just pre ordered this, because I think it looks great, the price is high, but I am not sure if we are going to see any Hot Toys figure under $200 again. The bad thing is I cancelled the 89 Batman, I am not a big fan of the 89 Batman costume anyway, so I am not sad. I really like spiderman, though Spiderman 3 was terrible, by far the worst Spiderman of the series, being Spiderman 2 the best. Again, I have to own at least one Spiderman in my collection, and passed on the B&R spiderman because it didn't come with Tobey's head sculpt. I just hope this thing worth the $210+shipping+taxes.. Not more quality issues, please!!!!!!

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

Might've been nice if the huge, superfluous, price-pumping piece was the exclusive accessory, like Sideshow's Toht and Belloq. It's cool, but make it an option for people with unlimited funds and more passion for Sandman than I.

PO are opened for distributors in Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia..& Thailand (I believe)... These countries will get theirs before US

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

I like SSC because their shipping is the cheapest that I know, their customer service is good (apparently, I haven't had to request a refund or replacement yet), & because of the reward points. It's only a preference. Of course it should be easy enough to order the regular one at other etailers, not sure about the Ex though.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

If you are a collector and not a flipper why would you care if they sell out? Personally if I can't PO something and can pick it up at retail a month after it was released good for me...if Supes never sells out I could care less.

You wanted the TM head sculpt to be the exclusive?? :dunno:lol

Seriously, the first Spiderman came with a pretty nice bell tower display base, and Sweeney Todd came with a fancy barber chair, a stand, a backdrop, a second set of "bloodied" clothes, and a ton of accessories - each at a lower price point than symbiote SM. The thing I mainly see driving up the price of this release is the swap-out portrait... that and greed.

Also quite seriously: I'm in (just barely) for this release, but henceforth, I am going to be much more selective with HT. I like black costume Spidey enough that they - just barely - roped me in with the extra goodies. But HT has shown their hand and now I must show mine: HT is PRICING THEMSELVES OUT of the collectable game as far as I'm concerned. Collecting high-end collectibles is, at best, a specious pastime in a poor economy. With these artificially inflated prices, though, it becomes completely impractical. :nono

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys: - MMS165 - Spider-Man (black costume version) Official Specs and Pi

Personally I don't feel 209 is a bad price at all for this considering that it's coming with a pretty cool diarama piece and another sculpt. How much do you see HS going for on eBay that aren't recasts?? Also some Type of R and D went into developing a masked swappable head which would bring up production costs. I'm sure anyone not interested in the TM HS could get 50$ for it basically lowering the price to what the R and B suit Spidey went for.
