September 14th in OZ!!!WOOT WOOT

cannot wait.I love all the hype before anything Star Wars releases.
Just seeing this as pristine as possible and as clear sounding as possible is what it is all about.
the deleted scenes have me in anticipation of seeing something "new" again.

Had to quote you for speaking the absolute truth. I love Alien more than I should and the bluray release was so phenomenal. Also you get the option of original theatrical version, or updated extended (but really shortened :lol) version. Ridley is the man, man.

Hope A New Hope and Empire look as wonderful as Alien did to me. To the point of shockingly beautiful.

New Hope will not. :(
Empire will look a lot better, but don't expect Alien levels of picture quality. Alien was shot with anamorphic lenses. By a visualist, the exposure levels, the focus pulling, it was perfect. Like 2001. Star Wars unfortunately was not.

I can't wait for these myself, but best to limit your expectations slightly.
:monkey2

I can see your point. Maybe one day he'll budge. I think if a large enough fan base said we aren't buying it until you give us what we want, he would eventually cave in.

If that's the case, it'll never happen. As years go by and the "OT Elitists" get more and more outnumbered by newer/younger generations of fans who won't really care about "little" things like that, the chances of releasing the pre-SE versions of the OT will get smaller and smaller.

True

then eventually the newer/younger fans of the CW cartoon will outnumber and drown out the PT elitists :lol

I don't know. :lol I mean those kids like the CW and PT more so than the OT I think. They will feel much more attached to those two and like the OT for what it extends of the characters from the PT. GL is winning no matter what. :lol

Watching that clip makes me laugh, because now I can't help but notice that Family Guy was right, each time that horn honks and a character glances to someone else. . . it goes on forever. :rotfl

And the other thing that bugs me, when Luke holds his hand up, it takes like 3 seconds for the lightsaber to fall into his hand. I wish they could clean up the timing of that scene. The sequence should be R2 shooting the lightsaber up into the air, and your brain immediately thinks "Why is R2 shooting that lightsaber up in the air??" and before you can even come up with the answer, Luke uses the Force to grab it out of mid-air. THAT would be cool.

Han shoots first and i'll never say anything bad about SW ever again!

Every freaking character in SW can step on Jabba's freaking tail for all I care as long as Han shoots first again!

I'll even sit and watch the PT and cheer while doing it if Han shoots first again!

Just freaking fix Han already, enough with all the bull____ reasons.

Agreed 100%!!!

Then why not keep it inside his ranch, and never release the saga to the public?

I mean...it's his...for him to enjoy...right? :dunno

Yeah and the ride ain't free. How many releases is enough. Back in VHS/DVD days he was raping fans and still had defenders. I guess it's that victim guilt. :dunno

In 1977 SW was not shown on non-anamorphic DVD transferred from a degraded 30 year old film negative. We'd like the film restored and displayable just like...any other movie that currently exists on blu-ray.

Coppola went through extensive restoration of the Godfather movies to bring what people saw nearly 40 years ago to blu-ray, with no need to add a CGI mobster. Not a good comparison since a sci-fi movie is perfect fodder to have a CGI nut go crazy on. Perhaps Lucas could have learned a lesson from Robert Wise..."Star Trek: The Motion Picture" was hardly a great movie and likewise with the DC of it, BUT Wise used CGI sparringly only to add stuff he couldn't put in (like Lucas) the first go around. Difference is he went into the CGI strip club just to watch a few dances and not take every girl to the VIP room, like Lucas.

What? No. No one will say that because that's ____ing retarded.

There's a difference between restored, and made better then those crappy versions....

I'm not asking for an extensive Blu Ray transfer that creates the greatest movie watching experience of all time....just a decent transfer that looks GOOD.

I'll take a first Predator Blu Ray quailty version...grainy, but still good.

Also, Alien was restored, and looks like a brand new movie...I dont see how that makes it "not nostalgic" any more.. It looks fantastic, and it's still a great movie.

I'd love for you to be right but what I've learned over my 30 years of fandom is that somewhere, Star Wars fans will complain regardless...:lecture

Not true. I was geeking out on SW newsgroups long before the Special Editions came along. Nobody complained about the 1990 VHS trilogy, the 1993 Laserdisc Definitive Collection, or the 1995 THX editions (laserdisc and VHS.) People had issues with ewoks and Boba Fett's death but SW was hardly "controversial."

There was an ongoing off-topic debate about SW vs. ST and that was pretty much it. 1997 and the following prequel trilogy changed all that. People have been asking that the original OT be preserved ever since.

I'm not a PT hater, and I am cautiously optimistic about the upcoming blu-ray set, but Lucas brought the complaining and controversy on himself 20 years after winning an entire generation of diehard fans.

He's done that with the PT as well though. I've said it many times that people my age and younger love the PT and it will be to especially the kids I taught what the OT was to people older than I.

OT Purists are like Jehovah's Witnesses. They will keep banging on about how the prequel trilogy, and the changes to the original trilogy, are blasphemy, until you are converted. It's all subjective so I don't know why they bother

i just want great picture quality with great sound and some of the matte lines and effects sorted- which they have said is done.

im happy with some of the se changes and least happy with others but its still star wars and thats why we're here ? right?
oh but if han could shoot first ?
