Re: Hot Toys Michael Keaton Batman (1989)

I cant tell by the pics but will batman be able to fit in the batmobile? I know he did in the tumbler but this looks smaller.

Don't know if it's the lighting at SDCC, but this looks to have a dull paint job and a bit of a cheap overall look to it.

I agree, it doesn't look like its been painted at all. It should have a glossier gunmetal look.

Maybe this really is a proto, I hope so, because I have wanted this to become a reality for years!

Re: Hot Toys Michael Keaton Batman (1989)

How much was the Tumbler upon release? Was it a regular release or was it very limited?

If memory serves it was $600 MSRP with retailer discounts and didn't seem all that limited when it came out. Everybody had it.

Keep in mind, we have yet to see pics of it with the roof closed. This batmobile tends to look a bit shorter with the roof open, so that may contribute to the stockiness.

You sure we're talking about the same Batmobile here? This is the thread for the 1989 Batman Tim Burton matte black Batmobile from the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie. The one with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

:stick

The proportions on this are way off. It's about 20% too small. There are so many areas on this that are off that an entirely new sculpt is needed to make it accurate. It is too short. It is too narrow. The inside of the front fenders come to much too exaggerated a point towards the inside of the car. They did this in order to have enough room to put the headlights in and have them look not totally off. What they basically did was widen the front fenders towards the INSIDE of the car instead of the outside. The proportions of the Toyami Batmobile are much more correct, except that the Toyami is too saggy and droopy looking.

Good. Then go back to the Toynami thread and let us enjoy this Batmobile. :wave

It wasn't matte black. Does this look matte black to you?
You know what matte means right?

Tim Burton's 1989 Batmobile (still the best IMO) was designed to look like a gun barrel by Anton Furst & Burton & Co.

On Sideshow they have the Iron Man Gantry with an actual figure. Maybe they'll do a combo like that where you get Keaton Batman and the Batmobile.

Well, it's not "gunmetal" either. :lol

Man, I feel the same way. I didn't want to say it because a lot of people are excited about this one, and I hate to crap on their fun.

It has a well done model look to it, which is good, but hardly the mind blowing awesome of other HT stuff I'm seeing. Could just be that it's a vehicle, and they've never really been my thing. I fault nobody for buying it.

Well, if all you want is an approximate representation of the Batmobile to put your figures in, like the old 8 inch action figure Mego Batmobile was, great. If you want an ACCURATE 1/6 scale Batmobile, then this ISN'T that at all.

It's pearl silver. Whether people could tell that it was pearl silver or not, and if people believe that the Batmobile should always be black is beside the point. The color of the car was silver, and if you can tell what color a car is at night, you would have seen that it was silver and remembered that it was silver like I have, since 1989.

Look good enough to me and that's all that matters. I'm not gonna go lock myself in the closet, knees to chin, crying about the existential risk because the dash has an extra button or the wings are 2 degrees less curved than the actual prop. :huh
