In my opinion, any of these would be suitable:

* Pilotwings Resort - if he likes planes, jets, flying.
* Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition - if he likes fighting games
* LEGO® Star Wars III: The Clone Wars - if he likes Legos and Star Wars.
* RIDGE RACER 3D - if he likes racing games
* Rayman 3D - the closest thing you'll get to Super Mario 64 at launch
* Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D - if he likes sports games, I'd recommend this over Madden.

The QR was really neat. barley held the system to the screen and it popped out plasmids mii.

I really want this, but at the same time I kind of want to wait to see if there are any problems initially that need to be corrected.

Remember the first DS Lites with the cracking hinges? I had one of those. :)

Looks like a great system. I've been telling people for years that I prefer the DS over even the major consoles. Sure, it's nowhere near the 360 or PS3 graphically, but the games are just so much fun.

Along with the colors shown at E3 last year, I liked how the analogue/circle pad matched the color of the rest of the unit. The final product has a grey/offwhite stick.

I only noticed last night that the 3DS top lid has a translucent edge. The base color is black (or blue for you blue 3DS owners), but it is covered in a clear layer that can only be seen when looking at the edges at an angle.

It was an awesome surprise.

I know what you mean. Waiting 2 hours for it to fully charge the first time was killing me. But I hear that it's good for electronics with lithium batteries to be charged fully the first time.
