Yup, I've had him since he first shipped from Sideshow and he's been on display in the same spot all these years and I still get a thrill whenever I see him, always been one of my favorite Star Wars characters and in my book, the representation by Sideshow is nothing short of perfection, the throne looks great, his sculpt is phenominal, the paint work beautiful, though arguable, and all the extras they've done have been equally impressive, like the Bib figure or the critters or the Han and wall set. I love it all and I think the Jabba group represents a lot of Sideshow's best work in this line.

Right there with you, Sean...Jabba is still the king of this collection...

Thanks Dorgmal! I'm looking forward to getting him abet the sudden purchase.

One reason I never went for it, is that I really have several high-end Jabba collectibles. I can never have enough right? Time to start saving for the throne then.

I have an announcement. Tonight I took the plunge and purchased a Sideshow Jabba. It's just the figure with inclusive wine goblet. Needless to say I bid low expecting to be outbid and that never happened.

So I need advice on getting a throne for a good price from experienced Sideshow Jabba owners. I know I just took on a commitment by getting this.

Just keep eying auctions for the throne. You'll be able to nab one for a good price. Or, you can find an etailer that still has one in stock and pick it up with a Black Friday discount at a fraction of the price. I was able to nab the Carbo Han display for $126 taking that route. The thing I like best about Jabba is he's a display you can keep adding to. Beit the Clone Wars figures or ROTJ, he fits both. I'm currently getting my wife to braid hair to finish a Slave Leia as well to compliment mine.

For me, a Slave Leia is a key to the display, I didn't take long to put mine together once I got Jabba, he just didn't look right to me without her there, Leia, Crumb and though not film accurrate, Bib Fortuna atop the throne with Jabba are musts for me.

I can't wait to add the Sideshow Gamorrean Guard into the mix.

Yeah. I almost bashed her using a buck, but the waist isn't realistic. The Otakus can't pose for ____ and the CyGirl bods won't mimic the pose either so it was a matter of waiting for the perfect body. Finally picked up an Eva (not happy about the genitalia but, meh), which matches the paint on the Boushh head nicely. Now it's just a matter of getting hair braided to match the head's paint apps and porting over the Hasbro outfit, gluing it down and then packing her away until we move. :lol:monkey1

Still on the fence about the Gammoreans though. The lack of poseability has me preferring to keep the Hasbros since they'll largely be static anyway.

There is a lack of good female bodies for customizing with, I find most tend to have very exaggerated proportions or inhuman figures. I lucked out that at the time Jabba was shipping, Triad was selling this body.

Sure it has visble joints, but I am able to get her in the sitting pose I wanted, and the Hasbro costume and head fit on it just fine.

Yeah, that's part of what I had a problem with. I don't mind the exposed joints, but that abdomen is basically a ball. I wanted something more "realistic" since that part is not only exposed, but predominantly so. She needs to match the high-end figures surrounding her or, to me, it would stand out (in a not so good way). Unfortunately, there wasn't a body on the market at the time that had that but also had the articulation to pull off decent "lounging" poses.

I repainted mine a while back. It's not quite as orange as it appears in the photo. If I were to do it again I would make the green more prominent, and in fact I'm thinking of going back and touching it up a bit.
