What I didnt understand is why didnt the classic predator stab berserker in the neck, back, leg, chest, throat when he was invisible and had the drop on him?

Because it's a movie and that was not what the director wanted to happen. :wave

Simply because Royce had to be the one to kill the baddie predator. If the classic predator had been the central 'hero' he would have outwitted and killed berserker. Still, the fight was terrible. They should have made it a bit more elaborate and with less cuts to Jar jar binks. ....sorry jumped to the wrong film there. What I mean is sometimes filmmakers don't seem to know when not to bother showing us how the other characters are getting on when we're in the middle of the bit we really wanna see. i.e 2 predators fighting eachother. (or jedis embroiled in a 3-way lightsaber duel)

What also annoys me is the silly pandering rock-style musical 'announcement' of Classic predator when he gears himself up as if to say "Ooooh yeah, this is what its all about, here comes the real bada$$!".....then they go and make him get thoroughly owned by berserker. Hmmm, well that was embarrassing.

Yeah lets do this.......blah.....____ I'm dead!

You got it, exactly right. They build him up with this "a$$kickr" version of the original Predator's music motif as he puts his mask on and you expect him to do some real damage....I think he gets in one uppercut punch..just about...then gets decapitated. Humiliating.

I'm very ____ about the human likeness of HT's figures, but in this case I like HT's modification better. In the movie they tried to make the Berserker very different from other predators...although I like the concept of being different the final design was so so. They tried to make him wilder and more vicious looking but in my opinion the final design was kind of on the primitive side. The way I can explain it better is if you look at the human evolution...from ape looking beings we became human. From primitive looking features to a more sophisticated looking face. Classic predator looks like a more evolved predator.

I totally understand why some if not most like HT's design better. It does have a quality about it that looks different but at the same time, still distinctly classic Predatorish where the actuall design you see on film, you can tell it's a Predator but thats where the similarities end if that makes sense. However as I've said a million times I'm a stickler for accuracy not matter what, if the Pred's face looked like Jessica Alba, I'd expect HT to make him look like Jessica Alba (ok maybe not that extreme but you get my drift). In my very humble opinion, it is not HT's place to take creative licence on a figure unless the character they are making has limited reference material and in case of Berserker, there was plenty of references for them. Still my biggest beef with this figure is the small head and bio. I can look past the likeness issue but the small (or proportined as some put it) head and bio is what keeps this figure from being a home run in my eyes. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic figure and I still plan to get it, but damnit I want him to have a bobble head like in the movie :lol

Well, go and try to film a 15 minute fight scene with big clucky rubber monsters....it's basicly impossible. I dont know why people expect so much from these fight scenes. Look at Predator. Pretty one sided fight. And half of it was cutaways..(Shot on Predator hitting Dutch, Cut to Dutch reacting, bearly any wide shots). Even in AvP, the fights were quick.

You have to add in the factor of both the limitations of the suits, plus the actors wearing them. They can bearly breath, bearly move, it's hot...they sweat...

And all that fire around doesnt help. The fight scene was as best as we're ever going to get. Suit work just isnt that sophisticated. It's great, dont get me wrong. It's better then CGI....but dont exepect super long drawn out balls to the wall fight scenes with them. It wont happen.

PS. That Rock music version of the Predator theme was the best use of the theme in all 3 films. There I said it. :rock

that's where the slippery slope is - when toy manufacturers think they know better than the fx people who designed the characters/costumes in the first place. .

In the case of the head this argument doesnt really hold water. The head wasnt designed to be big, it had to be because it had to be built around the performers head and hold the electrics for movement/lights etc etc.

As an example I used once before - BD T-800, in the movie his face was asymmetrical due to the prosthetics being placed over Arnies face. Would you prefer the fig to be like that or for them to make it more realistic by sinking the endo skull down a little? (thats a genuine question I'm not just being argumentative! :peace)

The dreads are a totally different matter of course :lol

Who says they wouldn't have made the heads that big even if they weren't forced to? I just don't see what people think is so wrong with Predators having big heads or why people think it wouldn't have a big head like that if it were actually a real living creature.

HT should follow what they see onscreen and not take it upon themselves to make stuff up.

I very much doubt anyone would have complained if HT had properly observed the onscreen proportions and made the head bigger. Sure maybe someone would have said "gee does anyone else think his head looks a bit big?" but all it would have taken to dispel those concerns would be a couple of screengrabs. No one in their right mind would complain about something being screen accurate.

So its all just after the fact rationalising. If it helps people enjoy an innaccurate figure then thats what we have to do but accuracy would and should be preferred.

No but in the case of the predator I don't think a smaller head is necessarily 'more realistic'.

anger about big brains maybe.

those who say "it's ok as it is" would never notice. they like everything as it is. consumers.
