I grew up with the old rubber figures too. It's amazing how far figures have come.

I've just started collecting them. I've fought it for a good while, since I collect a lot of 1/6 figures, particularly Hot Toys figures, and they can be quite expensive.

I was a huge wrestling fan during the 80s-90s, and I'm loving the articulation on the elites, and am particularly enjoying the Legends line. I miss the good old days of wrestling, and these are just wonderful. :)

When I was younger, I always wanted wrestlers with GI Joe style articulation, but the road from there to here sure was a bumpy one.

I had the old LJN rubber figures as a child. Hated that they weren't posable. Ugh.

Bought the Galoob figures, even though some of them were ridiculous. How anyone could think it's a good idea to sell an "action figure" with both legs molded together is beyond me. Again, I dreamed of more articulation, and more realistic proportions.

Jakks got the line, and had the bonecrushers which promised "hidden articulation." Turns out the hidden articulation meant the same thing to them as non-existant. Then Jakks started making the more articulated figures, but you could never quite get the legs to move. What good is a wrestling figure that can't even assume a seated position? I WANTED to give Jakks my money, but couldn't stand the lack of scale for the most part, and the identical bodies on everyone.

Finally, Mattel came along and gave me what I've always wanted... right as I started buying $150+ figures. hahaha! I would always look longingly at them in the toy aisle, but never would buy. Then I decided to buy just one or two every week as funds permit. That way, it's not getting out of hand. In my opinion, Mattel is doing everything right with these: multiple body types, reasonably accurate scale, excellent articulation.

It only took 30 years, but we're finally here. Now get Big John Studd and Andre the Giant on the shelf. :)

Mattel have done a great job with the line so far.I am only interested in Classic Shawn Michaels and the WM 25 attire, plus ill consider any Macho Man they are making.
I currently own the WM 12 Entrance Great Shawn Michaels,no plans on collecting big with Wrestling figures.

Check out those rocker figures. I know u will get those!

I picked up a hacksaw jim duggan and sgt slaughter so far... I'm really digging the legends line.

Just Met Chris Jericho... pretty great guy and one of my all time faves.

Christian though was one of the most genuinely nice, cool, down to earth guys I've ever met.

Modern day Wrestling has to be one of the most retarded impossible to understand things in my life, even more so then religion.

Having said that, the Legends line looks incredible, Jake the Snake, Iron Shiek, Hacksaw, Road Warriors, and I think I saw Mr. Perfect? Those are ____ing Wrestlers, not those pretty boy MTV reality stars. Glad to see the real superstars getting good plastic treatment.

I agree that today's wrestling is garbage,it got so boring after 2005 so i never bothered watching anything else than Shawn Michaels, and the last 3 years the only wrestling ive watched was HBK vs Undertaker at WM 25 and 26.
I wouldn't say impossible to understand, wrestling is wrestling...it is what it is.

I knew some how this thread would turn into "Fans" knocking the current product because it's like the wrestling they watched when they were a kid.

Im neither a wrestling fan nor did I mention the current day products, just current day wrestling itself.

In less than a year with the license Mattel are blowing Jakks away in every area, it is not even close.

The only issue for me is that Legends aren't sold officially in the UK which means I can't afford as many as I'd like as import stores always overcharge but I have got,

series 1 "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
series 1 Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
series 2 "Ravishing" Rick Rude
series 2 Terry Funk
series 2 Kamala
series 2 Jake "The Snake" Roberts
series 3 Vader

Next up for me are likely to be,

series 3 Mr Perfect
series 3 The Rock
series 4 Ultimate Warrior
series 4 Ax
series 4 Smash

My most anticipated figures are,

Defining Moments series 1 "Macho Man" Randy Savage
Defining Moments series 2 Ultimate Warrior
series 5 "Macho Man" Randy Savage ( WM IV attire )

I actually have tried to get back into wrestling, but you are right that its is not the same.

HOWEVER, despite the terrible story lines, I do appreciate the athletic "Cirque des sole-esque" quality to new school wrestling. I took my 10 year old cousin to RAW a few months back and the matches themselves were AMAZING. They can do some amazing things. Moves that are intricate, advanced, and amazing death defying feats. The same stuff I loved seeing when the Rockers would get on stage and wow us with all teh "double" high flying moves they could perform. Hardcore and ladder matches can be especially exciting.

But I still think todays wrestling is missing some of the elements that made old school wrestling so entertaining.
Ultimate warrior was a terrible wrestler skillwise, but the character was AMAZING and the energy and spectacle he produced is what made him a legend among fans. This is exactly what wrestling needs to reclaim.

I especially hate how nobody has a stage name anymore??

Batista
HHH
Chris Jericho
bla bla bla

What happened to the rest of their names?

I am talking

Mr. Perfect
Hulk Hogan
Demolition
The Heartbreak Kid... etc.

Remember when HHH was Hunter Hearst Helmsley

The only wrestlers of today that have a stage name are Undertaker and Goldust who I would consider legacy wrestlers.

Imagine Jake the snake was just called "Jake"...Yuck!

Reality TV has caused wrestling to rot, despite the legions of fans.
I really hope they can fuse old and new school wrestling together. I would love to sit down and watch some wrestling matches and not feel like a dinosaur.

I've not watched wrestling regularly for years largely because,

A) None of the new "stars" have any natural charisma because they're no longer allowed to come up with their own character and style of talking.

B) They all have the same cookie cutter appearance...it's like they're made with a CAW mode from a videogame.

C) The actual wrestling has increasingly taken a back seat to all the soap opera/reality show BS.

A) Is this true?

B) True. We only need one ravishing Rick Rude. I would like to see more variation in wrestlers looks, not just extremes like Giants and Midgets.

C) I actually don't hate the story lines as much as most. I am just happy it is not as X-rated as it used to be. I should not feel embarrassed to watch wrestling in front of my mother. I see they are slowly getting more family friendly again.

Has anybody ordered from Ringside Collectibles?

I would like to place an order and just would like to hear some feedback.

Thanks,

Balsquat,
From what I've been able to discern from reading various books and watching several shoot interviews most of the newer generation are given a character and all their promos are scripted by the "creative" team which is no doubt why they all sound so robotic and forced.

Veterans like the Undertaker & Triple H have enough clout to still be able to come up with their own material but the newbs have to adhere to the scripts otherwise they don't last long.

IMO the only current guy that sounds convincing is CM Punk and it's because he had years of experience on the indies to perfect his style.

Back on the topic of the figures I ordered the Legends series 3 Mr Perfect yesterday which I'm really looking forward to getting as it'll be nice to get a figure of him that isn't built like Scott Steiner.

I picked up Iron Sheik a few weeks back, damn Mattel have some really nice figures on the horizon, Ultimate Warrior,Macho Man,Demolition,Hulk Hogan,Nikolai Volkov etc...all must haves!!.

Thanks,

Ringside is the nr.1 retailer of these Wrestling figures,Jakks and Ringside are VERY close,i used to collect The old Jakks Legends line many years agoo followed by the Rocky Jakks figures which i still have off course.the official www.wrestlingfigs.com forum was started by Ringside as well which is the most popular Wrestlingfigure forum today as far as i know.
I have many years experience with Ringside so id say they are the most popular site to order new wrestling figures from.
