Terminator Salvation Steelcase

My first movie on Blu-Ray disc! After having some trouble getting the movie to play due to old firmware, I finally got it working earlier tonight.

I just watched it, the picture and sound is amazing!!!!! :rock :rock :rock

Got blu-ray now? nice one bro :rock :rock

I got my 400 disk changer set up over the weekend. I currently have just over 200 disks loaded. I haven't decided on that TV season sets to put in for now yet. After loading all the disks, you have to connect it to the internet to pull all the movie info/cover art. That took several hours to do and then some weren't right so I had to go in to manually update some of the info.

Here are a few pics.

Just bought Seasons 2, 3 and 4 of House on DVD for $17 at Target. Finally completed the set.

I run an AppleTV on both my living room and bedroom TV -- ends up with a similar set up (can call up DVDs by remote control). We have to digitize the DVD content and put in on itunes (we have a couple of terabytes of storage), and the Apple TV accesses my computer and displays the content on the TV. I've liked the convenience of the thing.

That is nice for DVD's but what about Blu Rays?

You'd have to have a blu-ray drive on your PC (and a program to decode it), or buy blurays with digital copies. I just got a PS3 for Christmas, and only have 2 BRs -- Star Trek and TDK -- but I also have the DVD, so it wasn't really an issue.

Actually, its one of the main reasons I've resisted the switch to BR. The digital copy is more important to me than the upgrade from DVD to BR.

That is the difference, I would prefer to watch movies in the highest quality picture and sound available. I can just stream ripped DVD's, etc to my PS3 as well but wanted a better solution for my growing Blu Ray collection.

They're part of a Trilogy Boxed Set (not imports)

I picked it up at BestBuy (in Canada) for $29.99.

Haven't watched them yet...

That is awesome !!!! I so want that ! Why can't they have that here.

Are you guys replacing your DVDs with blu-rays or don't you have alot of these old vids?

I am personally replacing all the must-haves. Not much more. But then again, that would include almost all my Sci-fi/Action stuff. LoL.

Just ordered the Reign of Fire import HD-DVD!!!!
~~Sorry, but I still collect the random imports. And I still have 3 working HD DVD players.

No shame there bro ! I have three too ! :rock

Nice.

Is it built in wireless ? I wonder how it compares to the PS3... updatable ?

I've been frustrated not being able to pick up the older Pixar flicks, particularly Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo and the Incredibles on blu-ray. Disney better get their crap all in one bag and get them out in '10. Hell, Finding Nemo has been delayed two years now!

It's funny since someone asked if we were replacing older DVD copies, and those four would all be blu replacements for me in a heartbeat. As would all the Star Wars flicks, all the LOTR, and all but the last Indy. And yet, none of them are on blu at this point *sigh*

No built in wireless or memory for BD Live stuff but you can add a USB memory stick in the back USB port for that. It does have firmware updates, I did one when I installed it. I think it actually has a little better PQ than the PS3 but they are close. It has the same cross bar menu system as the PS3.

Hmm... that could cause me some issue...

Really better PQ than the PS3... wow.

How is the AQ ?

I assume you are running HDMI... any issues ?

Very nice, Natrix! The interface looks pretty good! How quickly do the disks switch?

Good question.

Good question.

I had to bring my modem upstairs to wire it up to update and download disk information. I still have to figure out a wireless bridge or something so I can keep it online for when I load new disks. It is also like the PS3 in that if it is connected to a network it will notify you that there is new firmware available.

Yes, it is hooked up through HDMI to my receiver. It bitstreams the True HD/DTS-HD audio to my receiver which does the decoding so that is different than my old PS3. I can't tell any real difference in sound between that and LPCM from the PS3. The video might just seem a little better since it is a new toy.

I haven't timed the disk change but it seems to change disks in about 45 seconds to a minute. That is to unload the current disk in the drive, relocate that in the changer, find the new disk in the changer, load it into the drive and boot the movie to the menu. It kind of depends on the disk it is booting up.
