Paranormal Activity' Becomes Most Profitable Movie Ever

"Paranormal Activity" has just surpassed "The Blair Witch Project" to become the most profitable movie ever.
The box office hit was made for less than $15,000 and as of Wednesday has grossed a whopping $65.1 million, TheWrap.com reported.

The movie's box office success has reaped a staggering 414,233 percent return on its initial investment.
"Paranormal" has gradually expanded from 12 to 33 to 160 to 760 to this weekend's 1,945 theaters - a move that some criticized - but one that Executive VP of Distribution for Paramount, Don Harris, credits as a key to the horror film's success.

"Everybody else thought we should be going faster than we were," he told TheWrap. "But I thought we were doing a pretty good job of seeding the ground as we went. I don't know that we would have done a lot more last weekend if we would have added a bunch of runs then."
The studio has reportedly spent less than $10 million to market the movie.

<<<<COUGHBULL^^^^COUGH>>>>>

People really have to be reaching to call this movie the most profitable ever based on the percentage of return. There are movies out there that brought in (in the case of Titanic, if I remember correctly) over a billion dollars in profit. It brought in like 1.9 billion around the world and cost like 200 million to make

1.7 billion or 65 million. Despite percentages, which one is truly more profitable.

this movie has gotta be the worst I've seen this entire year. shows you the power of commercialism. I found myself asking why I'm was wasting my time watching two people laying in bed throughout the entire film. so the door shuts a few times and there are knocks whoopdy freakin' do scariest movie of all time my ^^^^.

Nuff props!! still..

Saw it yesterday...very average.the last 2 minutes of the movie, like blair witch, are good .But thats about it.3/10

Yeah finally seen this and I have to say while it started off fairly slow it picked up well towards the end enough that I enjoyed it. Its definetly not the scariest movie ever like they claim. I still think all those promo shots of people going bonkers in the theater are people who dont watch many scary movies. I can honestly say while there were some pretty tense moments I didnt jump at all. Still overall I thought it was pretty good.

I find it amusing how people buy the "scariest movie ever"...
I saw it because it looked interesting to me... I still think it's one great little movie!

Well marketed... but it still sucked ass.

I was interested and then right when it finally seemed something was going to happen it just ended.. and not a very original or well done ending at that. Even my wife, who can get pretty jumpy in movies didn't get scared.

Movie was a total fail for me... but fun to know it was made so cheaply, guess that's kind of cool.

I'm guessing you weren't a fan either Badmoon :lol :lol

Oh no sir. It was the most horrifying experience of my life. Watching a light turn on and off and door swing open truly had me blown away. Next week I am going to go see "Paint Drys on Wall". I heard its a real hum dinger.

Well then you sir haven't been introduced to the proton pack. :lecture

Paranormal Activity = Demon, the ghost Dr. said it's not a ghost but a demon.
