Yes the pack he is wearing is the cape. It is clearly seen in the blu ray and talked about in the commentary and special features of the blu ray. Remember it is a memory cloth and can make any rigid shape as explained in Begins.

Initially when he was to be riding the BatPod his cape was to fold up like in the Hong Kong rooftop scene.... but when they tested the stuntman they realised it was way more dramatic flapping around, and didnt get in the way at all.

So they left it.

Correct.

Plus, reasons behind this are:

1) you can clearly see it unfold with no additional pieces with a frame by frame of the max brightness blu ray when he leaps from the building in HK.

2) Lindy Hemming stated that the cape 'does things' in TDK. Apart from this, I fail to see anything else it 'does'.

Yeah, exactly. All the storyboards and early concept art had Batman on the Batpod with the cape pack on. You can even see that this is the case on the Art of The Dark Knight book, which I suggest picking up by the way.

Personally I doubt Hot Toys will include a "pop out" action feature. That's something Mattel would do and has done. And a 1/6 removable cowl seems highly unlikely to me.

We'll have to wait and see how this all "unfolds".

A chest button from the front or behind the backpack to activate the Pod up action cape.

I maybe wrong in quessing
:D

I hope you are wrong!!!

A chest button on what is to be such a nice figure :duh

There will not be a pop out cape feature, mark my words. Such a cheap gimmick. Also, where the hell would the hard plastic parts go when the cape expands?

I don't think they meant removeable cowl, more a spare empty one.

I don't think it's possible, especially at this scale, for the cape to even fit inside the backpack let alone a mechanism for allowing it to pop out. Likely there will be a separate cape.

I just wanna be able to display him with the reg cape too. Wish I wouldve got the Begins suit instead of the TDK one before.

I think everybody know that he doesn't ware some thing on his back for nothing and that that contains the cape

the discussion is whether that backpack contains the cape or that the backpack IS the cape...the last one being strange and illogical because of the 2 parts the backpack has.

It FORMS that rigid box shape. Then, story wise he (Batman) sends an electrical current through it and it becomes his cape.

Filming wise, yeah it's a simple molded back pack. But for the story and movie that IS his cape.

Agreed, it would be "cheap" for hot toys to make somthing pop-up, pop-out, pop whatever.

These are show collectibles in the first plays, not toys to play with like you would with Mattel or Barbie

okay, it IS the cape.

But without discussing something like "what is the backpak, IS it the cape or just a backpack"

I'd rather discuss the figure itself, because discussions like this make us look like pathetic fan boys :naughty

Instead of coming with a second outfit like DX Joker, I could see that the "deluxe aspect" of this fig would be 3 included heads (one with light up sonar eyes, instead of the PERS) and two capes, one regular and one in the glider form. I don't really see this coming with a Wayne suit (although I could be wrong of course)

I would love sonar eyes which would be great because I would not have to sell my medicom and keep both.

I'm sure this figure will function just like film suit did, with two "capes". I'm sure we'll have the hard molded plastic "backpack" cape and a new cloth cape. Just snap off the "backpack" and snap in the cloth one.

Nuff said.

Good, I didn't think you wanted me to pull out my screen shots and youtube link.

I don't think we're "pathetic fan boys". Well, I take that back. I don't know about all of us. We love the film and hobby and know our stuff. It's called enthusiasm. Messageboards are the only place I talk about this stuff anyway.

indeed, that would be the only logical way to do it, cause to do it like in the movie is impossible (memory cloth tech, 1/6th scale => lol) even folding a cape in a backpack in that scale is impossible and the cape would look like ^^^^ afther unfolding it

Good, I didn't think you wanted me to pull out my screen shots and youtube link.

I also saw the movie enough times, so there is no need to pull out the magic youtube and screenshot tricks ;)

Calm down man. You'll pop a blood vessel during your teenage years.

I am calm. Was just putting that part in capitals so it would get across, seeing as the logical reasons prior to that did not seem to work.

I would have to go back in time seeing as I am 22.
