For me, the V1 is still the more accurate sculpt and has a truer colouring. Unfortunately it?s let down by being slightly under scale.
I used to think this too, but seeing V2 in person totally changed my mind.

Below my photos of V1 vs V2

Really, v1 has truer coloring? It always struck me as pale pickle. Jabba was not that pale in the movie.
I think when you look at the prop itself without post processing / lighting it also looks really pale.

Still, that's not what you look for when displaying it I think.

The V.1 color is really not even close to accurate. It reminds me of the old hasbro "Jabba glob" figure's color scheme - too pale and yellowish. I had always intended to do a repaint - ajp's is an awesome repaint. The old Sideshow prototype was better though.

There are some video stills of when they were fitting the arms and doing camera tests in 1981 but the video color balance is off and makes Jabba look very yellowy. This reference pic is the closest I have found to what the Jabba prop's "true" color was. The V.2 Jabba is by no means perfect in terms of paint but it's fairly close.

Thanks for the details on those accessories, Talibane! As well as the color references.

Yep, leaning more towards the V2 now.

I always thought my v1 Jabba looked great. It wasn't until I saw someone repaint it, that I realized it wasn't that accurate.

Arrg, every time this thread pops back up I get really tempted again... and then I put it in my cart and see it comes out to almost $900 with taxes and shipping and remember why I keep passing. Lol

Use the affirm.

I got for $80 a month. 12 months

Well the new HT Gideon, a pretty basic figure, is $250 - this Jabba is not much above the cost of three regular figs, and in hand it feels like it's actually worth (in terms of display "bang for the buck" and sheer complexity of what's actually in the box) more like four or five regular figs.

Seriously, that 2nd pic could pass as a screen shot or production photo. Amazing!

I'm amazed too every time I look at it [emoji2]

In the meantime I'm trying to add some extra attributes to it, which will be 3D printed (like the barbecue in the back is)

This thing is never finished I guess [emoji28]

Where are you getting a 1/6 scale 3d print of the barbeque?

There he is. Don?t even want to open it for inspection because I don?t plan to display him yet. My display room is still being set up.
But I guess I have to make sure he?s all well and in good condition.

If I can get my countertop display and my desk done by this weekend, I should have some pics uploaded by next week!

Congrats!

By the way, the Rancor is scheduled to ship January-February. Giddee up Jabba owners! :lol

Yeah bo kidding. I think I?m gonna try and get it after I pay off Jabba. Have a feeling it will be around for at least a year.

Will be one hell of a display!

I don't know, the ES is 600 which isn't very high for Star Wars. And Sideshow has already imposed a limit of one per customer which is usually an indication that stock will be low. Rancor collectibles are rarely made and this one is by far the largest ever offered, it might go quick? The price is pretty high but statue people are used to that. I dropped almost $500 in points I had saved up to knock down the price, I'm not taking any chances.

Collection just sitting on the show floor waiting. [emoji30]

I got $209 in BBTS credit. They have a lando skiff guard. Was thinking about grabbing it, but $244 still seems high for him. Unless he?s getting a short run?

Maybe you?re right but I couldn?t swing it right now. I already maxed out spending on collectibles till late this year.

Im more of a robot fan and spent my money on P1 Robotech and preordered Blackout and OP Prime. Now this Jabba and some $3,000 in Fans Toys, of which I?m never selling. Lol.

But I sure will try and get him if he?s available after I catch up. [emoji106]
